but aren't lunch times staggered for the people involved? Wouldn't the noon hour be the busy time for restaurants? Unless the casinos all shut down for an hour next Saturday, some people are going to have to work through the caucus.

1. That's the point of at-large caucuses
As far as I understand it. I don't know any details, though.

2. It's during a big shift change
as I understand. Also, I think there have been negotiations to let workers take time to go. But yes, lots of pepole are going to have to work, not just the casino workers, not just the teachers.

3. That is part of the Teacher's Union Suit. They and other
Nevadans would not be able to vote.

BTW HRC is not involved inthe suit.

6. teachers don't work on Saturday so you can see the skuldugery in this
most teachers are pissed that this lawsuit has been filed. It doesn't represent them.

7. People, this whole thing was Harry Reid's idea ...he didn't want to disenfranchise
the casino workers in Las Vegas ....

we need to go back to primary voting in this state. We have too many people working in mining and service industries and hospitality industries who work on Saturdays.

We have successfully shut out a good portion of the working class in Nevada with this caucus statewide!

8. I agree
I don't like the caucus, and think it should be a primary for just this reason that we are seeing in Nevada. There are many other people who will not be able to vote on Saturday because they work. Nurses, police, firemen, and many others. A primary allows everyone to have a chance to cast their vote if they want to, and that's what it's all about, isn't it?

9. I am wondering if the unions didn't have something to say in this.
Public voting in a caucus might yield a better result for them than private voting in a closed-curtain booth.

Not that I am against that. I like the idea of different caucuses/primaries/hoops to jump though. This test should be a good test of the worker's votes, and the strength of the unions they belong to.

12. Teachers are being required to work in schools holding the caucus, but
if they live in another precinct they will not be able to vote. According to the lawsuit filed.

10. caucuses are stupid. there's a reason why we have secret voting, and polls should be as accessible
as possible, in terms of hours and locations.

13. some of the teachers are administering caucuses in districts other than where they live....
Of course, there are ways that particular could be remedied.

The whole lawsuit is a sham and a scam. The Clinton campaign, its intended beneficiary, pointedly remains neutral about it AND HAS NOT ENDORSED THE IDEA that it is somehow fair. Some of the PARTIES to the suit (some of the plaintiffs) were, according to minutes of the meeting in March, as reported by ABC and WaPo, at the meeting where the plan was unanimously approved.

No one, including the teachers' union, for months of the plan being publicly known, challenged its legitimacy, despite plenty of opportunity. ONLY when the union decided to endorse Obama was this bogus but powerfully backed lawsuit brought.

Many of the leading people behind the suit have CLOSE TIES to the Clinton campaign, and some to her -- remember the "independent" SwiftBoating? And all those indirect links to W Bush?

You might argue that it's merely politics as usual, but it's DISENFRANCHISEMENT-GEARED 'politics as usual', and the people being disenfranchised are precisely the kind of voters Hillary Clinton purports to champion.
