Hillary's NH dirty tricks
http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/01/12/taken_for_granite.html

Some supporters of Barack Obama, stung by his narrow loss to Hillary Clinton, are lashing out at a large group of Democratic women leaders in the state who signed a letter criticizing Obama's commitment to abortion rights, a letter that went out by e-mail to many New Hampshire voters two days before the primary.

Other Obama backers are upset about efforts by top Clinton supporters to remove poll observers that the Obama campaign had stationed around the state on primary day, an intervention that the Obama supporters say hindered their get out the vote efforts.

Obama supporter Bill Siroty, a former Democratic chair for the town of Amherst, said the ill will is running so high that it could keep Democrats in the state who supported Obama from rallying behind Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, should she win the nomination. In 2000, bad feelings that lingered among some Bill Bradley supporters about tactics used by Al Gore in the primary - including misleading charges about Bradley's health care plan - were seen as one reason why Gore lost the state to George W. Bush in November, thereby giving Bush just enough Electoral College votes to take the presidency.

Thugs.

1. Abortion rights are vital. I hope Obama speaks up about this a little....
... the reason abortion rights are vital is because the Repukes use this to get votes. Once and for all, the issue of abortion has to be ended. Abortion must be available, and constitutional, and NOT up for change.

2. Obama has alwasy been 100% behind abortion rights.
The "present" votes were part of a tactic agreed upon by pro-choice groups and reflect his support for choice.

7. Just to expand on this a bit,
you noted, correctly,

the Repukes use this to get votes

That's exactly why the pro-choice organizations wanted some reps to vote "present", to dilute the ability of republicans to use the Democratic votes for attacks in future elections, which could ultimately hurt the pro-choice lobby.

It was a tactic. A good tactic or not, may be debatable (but I'll leave that to the pros) but maligning Obama as questionable on abortion rights when he did what the pro-choice lobby asked, is pretty low.

8. No doubt about it. It gives a bad impression unless the candidate clears up the matter....
... and when he DOES, the Bible banging a-holes come out to complain about the candidate being in FAVOR of women's rights. I hate Bible bangers, I swear I do.

5. Why is the Washinton Post promoting Obama?
They're a newspaper well known for advancing Bush's agenda and protecting him from being held accountable for his administrations illegal activities, while undermining Democrats at every opportunity.

Why are they trying to help Obama win the primaries?

6. It's a blog. Like a column on the editorial page.
Different opinions are represented by different writers, I'm sure.

However, I can't see how any democrat would condone the tactics Hillary's team used in NH. To be fair, she may not have explicitly authorized the harassment of poll watchers, and the letter is fairly garden-variety nasty campaigning.

9. Not at the WaPo
like other newspapers under GOP control (including our local rag) every last sentence they publish is under complete control and advances the GOP agenda.

13. Surely you don't think the wonderful things Dan Froomkin reports
(and interprets) on his blog White House Watch are approved by the brass at WaPo!

10. How about worrying about Clinton using rovian tricks?
Oh never mind, I forgot that your dislike of Obama is so strong that you'll ignore such things.
