Given all the anger lately, thought I'd post a positive digression.
What electoral strategy will win the general election in 2008?
In 2004 we came damn close in a few states that could have shifted the election.
I pulled out the following:
Iowa: -1% 7EV
NM: -1% 5EV
Ohio: -2% 20EV* (ahem...)
NV: -3% 5EV
FLA: -5% 27EV
Assuming we can hold the states we won in 2004, how do we get to 271 next November?
Some of my random thoughts:
1. Richardson for VP
Just thinking he might help in the close Mountain states and with the Latino community.
3. Obama for the Black & Youth vote
With Obama on the ticket LA, MISS, ALA, SC, NC and VA might be competitive. Also the Gen x Gen Y votes give Obama some competetive edge in the New West states and the Southwest.
4. Hillary for Florida
Hillary polls much better with older voters than with young, and seeing as Florida has a huge swath of older voters my hunch is Hillary makes a good chance of winning Florida.
5. Edwards: I think he would help open up some of the upper south and some midwestern states.
