BEN NELSON to endorse "candidate of change" Obama? BWAAAAA (Update)
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 08:06 PM by Proud2BAmurkin
I don't know the specifics but read Nelson was the deciding PRO REPUKE Senate vote helping the PUKES and killing the Dems on tons of issues. Does anyone have some specifics on that?

Ben Nelson.

http://www.ketv.com/news/15032306/detail.html

On Edit, here are specifics

- Nelson was the lead Democratic Senator among 14 Senators supporting an agreement whereby Democrats would retain the power to filibuster one of President Bush's judicial nominees only in an "extraordinary circumstance",

- The agreement meant the three most conservative Bush appellate court nominees (Janice Rogers Brown, Priscilla Owen and William Pryor) would receive a vote by the full Senate.

- Nelson was the only Democrat to vote in favor of Bush apellate court nominee Janice Rogers Brown

- Nelson was the first Democratic senator to support Samuel Alito's confirmation to the USSC. Nelson also supported John Roberts's confirmation.

- Nelson voted twice, with three other Democrats, to end Senate debate over President Bush's UN Ambassador nominee John Bolton.

- President Bush has nicknamed Nelson "The Benator."

- Originally, Bush nicknamed him "Nellie," but Nelson jokingly complained that he would prefer a "tougher" nickname.

- On March 15, 2007, Nelson was one of two Democratic Senators to vote against invoking cloture on a resolution aimed at withdrawing most American combat troops from Iraq in 2008. The vote, requiring 60 votes to pass, was 50 to 48 against.

Would you have responded the same way if Lieberman had endorsed him? Or Pat Robertson?

13. Obama on McClurkin
http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/alexokren...
Statement on Rev. McClurkin

"I have clearly stated my belief that gays and lesbians are our brothers and sisters and should be provided the respect, dignity, and rights of all other citizens. I have consistently spoken directly to African-American religious leaders about the need to overcome the homophobia that persists in some parts of our community so that we can confront issues like HIV/AIDS and broaden the reach of equal rights in this country.

I strongly believe that African Americans and the LGBT community must stand together in the fight for equal rights. And so I strongly disagree with Reverend McClurkin's views and will continue to fight for these rights as President of the United States to ensure that America is a country that spreads tolerance instead of division."

but he is a popular conservative Dem in his state, so it's all good.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of "reaching out"?

14. Why, even Bush would run as a "Change agent" - it is a runaway fad!
In an interview with NBC aired today, President Bush dismissed the notion that presidential candidates’ messages of “change” are a rebuke of his presidency. Bush said he would do the same right now if he were one of them:

Q: Do you see this message of change as anything other than a rejection of your presidency?

BUSH: No, listen. If you’re running for office, you can’t run for office and not say ‘I am an agent of change.’ It’s just American politics. If I were running for office at this point, I’d be saying, ‘Vote for me. I’m gonna be an agent of change.’

This is a lot like Xtian rock.
See which way the parade is going and jump on.
Cahnge agent Huckabee, at your service!

25. Perhaps Obama can broker a compromise where we only kill 500 troops a year in Iraq
Or maybe he'll have the FBI only listen to half of our phone calls.
Or perhaps we'll only torture people on odd days of the month.

Them: "Obama will compromise too much with the Republicans!"
Me: "His theory of bipartisanship more revolves around achieving nationwide consensus for liberal ideas by treating conservative voters respectfully." (this aspect omitted in this particular discussion; I simply denied your proposition)
Them: "So provide examples of Obama compromising with the Republicans!"

I would think that you would want to be giving examples of Obama selling out liberalism by compromising with Republicans to support your case, not me.

What an awful affect Clinton would have on down-ticket races. While Nelson is an extremely conservative Democrat, I don't blame him for endorsing the candidate who can beat any Republican.

By appealing to conservatives while maintaining liberal policies, Obama might be the absolute best thing for liberalism we have going.

40. Big endorsement.
Nebraska loves him. I don't care for his voting record either, but someone must.

An April 2006 poll by Survey USA found him to be the most popular senator in the country, with a 73% approval rating from his constituents. In their most recent poll, his approval rating was 68%.

How about Romney?

If anything, this is a blow to the DLCers who are supporting Hillary. Perhaps Nelson sees a glimmer of hope in Nebraska with Obama at the top of the ticket.
