Pul-ease. Iowa's population and NH's population are sooo infinitestimally small that whatever delegate counts they result in shouldn't cause any of the top three Dem candidates to drop out until after California at least casts its votes in the primaries on Super Tuesday.

The Fat Lady hasn't sung yet and CA is the Fat Lady.

1. That's the way the media operates. I hate it, and I will make my own
decision about who to vote for. I'm hoping the internet helps people to ignore what the constant talking heads are saying. THEY don't matter!

4. The Mainstream Media LOVES
the horserace and gaffes.

In fact, who's ahead and gaffes pretty much makes up 90% of their campaign coverage! One of the worst offenders IMO is Chris Matthews.

That's why I largely avoid the mainstream media for election coverage and opt for something better: http://bravenewfilms.org/election

13. No there wasn't. I guess I have to give Wold a bit of credit here.He said "Her eyes glistened
and she showed som real emotion. That is what happened. With the rest of them, it's a damn big deal that a woman shows some emotion, but there was no bog deal when Mittens actually showed tears a few months ago when he was talking about how afraid he would feel if his sons were in Iraq!

I can't damd stand it that the MSM is being the sexists that they are!

15. This same kind of thing happens to her ALL the time.
If you will pay attention to her, and not to what the MSM SAYS about her you, will constantly see differences between what is reported about her and what actually happened.

Judge her by her own words and actions and you'll see that she is a first-class person AND politician.

Judge her by what the MSM says about her, and, like all the other Limbaugh dittoheads, you'll believe she eats babies.

"Obama 18
Edwards 17
Clinton 16"

and the media won't let up on the inevitability drumbeat on Obama. IMHO, Obama's a naive babeinthewoods when it comes to dealing with the GOP. He got a few to cooperate with him once. Kumbayya. Hilary is hated by GOP and her healthcare proposal in '94 came right out of a rightwing Stanford professor's policy book- Alain Enthoven (see Jacob Hacker's book discussing Hilary's healthcare plan in The Great Risk Shift, pages 149-153).

Edwards is the only one ready for the upcoming knife fight. Funny thing is these immature Gen X'ers are sooo ignorant of the history of the past thirty years, from Reagan on, that they'll fall for slogans. In fact that's how the GOP has operated in the past too, just a bunch of bumperstickers to pass for reality.

10. Yep...
Actually I don't even think it's inevitable that we're gonna even have an ELECTION this year so how anyone can say who's inevitable is pretty funny.

I think it's inevitable that I'll be voting for Edwards on Feb. 9 in Washington state though. Unless the world ends first.

25. That would be when they passed the Sept AUMF in '01 and Oct AUMF in '02
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 12:27 AM by EVDebs
with the language in them giving Bush "...at his determination..." powers, which were unconstitutional btw.

"That the President is authorized to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons, in order to prevent any future acts of international terrorism against the United States by such nations, organizations or persons."

Sept 2001
http://news.findlaw.com/wp/docs/terrorism/sjres23.es.html

" The President is authorized to use the Armed Forces of the United States as he determines to be necessary and appropriate in order to

(1) defend the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq; and

(2) enforce all relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions regarding Iraq. "

Oct 2002
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/10/20021002-2.html

in each case the "as he determines" language abdicates Congress's constitutional war powers be a collective determination, NOT an executive decision,

This language contradicts the War Powers Resolution of 1973
http://elsinore.cis.yale.edu/lawweb/avalon/warpower.htm

"It is the purpose of this joint resolution to fulfill the intent of the framers of the Constitution of the United States and insure that the collective judgement of both the Congress and the President will apply to the introduction of United States Armed Forces into hostilities, or into situations where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances, and to the continued use of such forces in hostilities or in such situations."

That would mean, logically, that only TRUTHFUL circumstances and situations would be considered, right ? Pretexts wouldn't qualify, eh ?

I much prefer Obama over Clinton, but it's really a Tide-Ivory Snow competition.
Obama in many respects is just Clinton with an actual personality.
Both are corporatists. One just goes down a little easier.

19. Obama's rhetoric is inevitable but that's all it is, false promises and commitments abound.
One of his first statements as he approached candidacy
announcement was that he would put an end to negative
campaigning. See below a snippet from Obama Wikipedia website.

"Speaking at a Democratic National Committee meeting one
week before the his February announcement, Obama called for
putting an end to negative campaigning. "This can't be
about who digs up more skeletons on who, who makes the fewest
slip-ups on the campaign trail," he said. "We owe it
to the American people to do more than that."

If that's the case then how long is the list of
"digs" he has racked up?

Below again more comments on his trip to hurricane ravished
New Orleans, what did he do to change the circumstances of the
Katrina Victims to show a movement toward changing government
indifference to the economic class division, these people had
and have immediate needs, he could have championed these
concerns to bring about immediate Change. Isn't this what he
is proposing?

A snippet from Obama Wikipedia website.

"In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Obama spoke out
against government indifference to growing economic class
divisions, calling on both political parties to take action to
restore the social safety net for the poor."

Lastly, the reality of delivering a universal health care will
be a formidable challenge, one that cannot easily be achieved
for a new president without experience in the domestic or
international forums which will be faced by the next
president, including ending the Iraq war. Is it realistic to
promise a universal health care by the end of the first term
of the next president from a candidate that has no experience,
who is a junior senator?

A snippet from Obama Wikipedia website.

Shortly before announcing his presidential campaign, Obama
told the health care advocacy group Families USA: "I am
absolutely determined that by the end of the first term of the
next president, we should have universal health care in this
country."

Last of all is Obama running for president or is he practicing
for America's Preacher and has a caravan throughout America to
emulate Martin Luther King?

20. Some good news and bad news for Hillary on this:
First the bad news. The CA primary is CLOSED on the Republican side: only Republicans can vote in it. So all the "independents" there can ONLY vote in the Democratic primary: they'll all turn out to vote for Obama.

The good news: in New Hampshire, the MSM is now saying that Obama will win big in New Hampshire -- with a "double digit lead." If Hillary loses by anything less than 10% to Obama, she can plausibly claim to be this year's Comeback Kid. (In '92, Bill successfully claimed comeback-kiddity even though he lost by 8% to Paul Tsongas.)

24. um, don't know much about how it works, huh?
let me explain it. The tiny little states? They give momentum going into NV and SC. NV and SC? Obama is polling sky high in SC. No polls yet for NV's caucuses, but the odds are excellent that he'll win. So he's won 3 or 4 by good margins, then comes Super Tuesday. He'll have ALL of the momentum and he'll handily win CA, IL, Georgia, Alabama, CT, MA and several others. All other candidates can go home.
