OBAMA similar to JFK? - In many ways, YES!

“Barack Obama is the political heir to my former boss.
He faces many of the same obstacles JFK faced before winning the presidency.”
- Ted Sorenson

Barack Obama and the Kennedy legacy

Edwards likened to RFK as well.....
"throughout his campaign for the Democrat's 2008 presidential nomination, Edwards has not-so-subtly encouraged the Kennedy comparison. He notes that no presidential candidate "in 40 years"—since Kennedy—has run a campaign centered on the plight of America's poor. Last week he ended his three-day, 1,800-plus-mile "Road to One America" poverty tour in Prestonburg, Ky., the town where, four decades earlier, Kennedy concluded his own tour of impoverished Appalachia. "I want you to join us," Edwards told his audience, "to end the work Bobby Kennedy started.""

7. I know who Ted Sorensen is. I know who they all were.
It was a unique time back then and the best part of it all was that I and all the rest of us were young then.

It ended all too quickly. That's why I pass up posts or articles that compare these times with those.

Sorry, but "parallel", as I understand its meaning, is not a good word to use when inviting these otherwise stimulating comparisons

9. You may be correct......
the more I think about it. But this post is because I haven't ever encountered so many progressives attempting to discount the power of the people the ballot box. It's quite amazing really....and an eye opener!

8. Very much so.
Thanks for pointing this out. Obama's story is even more striking in that he doesn't come from a political family, but they are both history makers and excellent speakers, and they both have great ideas.

10. Hillary is no Eleanor Roosevelt
Eleanor Roosevelt was a liberal and an internationalist. She was a key driving force behind the forming of the United Nations, an organization designed to prevent wars of aggression.

The Iraq War is a war of aggression, and the votes in favour of the Iraq War Resolution and the bomb Iran Kyl-Lieberman resolution, are clear violations of international law and of everything that Eleanor Roosevelt stood for.

Compare Hillary to Maggie Thatcher, and you might make a good analogy.
