Poll question: who would be the least objectionable GOPer to beat in November?
Let me rephrase that. Who, should the sky fall on our heads, would be the GOP candidate that would cause the least amount of damage to our country?

Every Dem is far more preferable to any of the GOP, but we have to face facts. After all, we are not members of an organized party - we are democrats. And we have been known to snatch defeat from victory all too often, so this issue is not merely academic.

This is NOT a poll asking who you WANT to win because we could beat them easiest. Rather this poll is directed to who would be the least bad choice from the dark side.

5. President McCain IS a possibility, if Bloomberg runs or the stars align in other ways.
I don't like it either. Nothing like having the bozo with the flag officer parent and grampa who was just a few hundredths of a percentage point away from being the ANCHOR MAN of his Naval Academy class leading the goddamned free world.

It would be nice to have someone in office who did WELL in school .... for a change.

3. All Of Them Have Policies That Are Antethetical To What I Believe In
But I can't work up a hate for John McCain... He just chose the wrong ideology...

4. Would you like that shit-sammich with Mayo or without?
It would be horrible any way it went but McCain would probably be at least the most likely (if you can confuse a sentence so can I) to get along somewhat with the Congress and there is an off chance his Court selections wouldn't be as bad as the others.

7. Khrushchev
The GOP needs someone to denounce the Stalinist neocons and a purge to rid the party of them.

9. so long as no Andropov is hiding in the woodwork
I just finished a scary book, Hitler, Stalin and Lenin. What lenin started, Stalin commercialized. But his henchmen, andropov in particular, survived, and managed to stain his hands with the blood of hundreds of thousands.

The 2008 GOP field is remarkable for how frighteningly bad it really is.

11. how? How does seeking an opinion about
our opposition help the opposition? Does it turn D voters or caucus goers into raving necon lunatics? Do indie voters, tired of 7 yrs of crap suddenly become religious reichists and lovers of Romney or huckster?

Are you suggesting that from the frame of liberal, progressive thought, some topics should never be raised?

A fool? My ex thought so. And shared her opinion with me, loudly, repeatedly and in my face. I guess the jury is out on that one.

12. McCain?? Now I'm convinced more than ever that this place is infested with repukes!
Next to Gullaini, this guy is the most dangerous puke on the list. He'd drop bombs on Canada if they sneezed on us by accident.

16. never have I seen such a weak slate
strange. Almost as thought the party wants to spring someone on the country at the end. A bush, or a newt, or Ann Coulter.

17. Newwwwt! Help us, Obi Wan Ke-Newt-bie, you're our only hope!
I don't know, they'll either shrug and go with Romney, or unenthusiastically let McCain have it, out of pity. Either way, they won't have the excitement and drive and energy on their side. GOPers are going to lose in '08.
