For four years a group of anti-war demonstrators have gathered at the local courthouse on Saturday mornings. In the past few weeks a growing bunch of "counter-demonstrators" have shown up to shout down and disrupt the peace folks.
The local paper has been running letters, pro and con addressing the "gathering storm". Here is a letter from today:
Anti American
First off, Let's correctly identify Karen Porter's group as not anti war, but anti American. And also correctly identify the counerprotestors as pro-troop, and not pro-war. It's important that the American veterans and and other patriots who counter-demonstrate in West Chester let the public know that the people of Chester County continue to value our Constitution, our troops and the American way of life. The "peace" group appears to be composed of the "hate anything American" species and feels that Islam is good for us. Under the false guise of Quaker/Friends beliefs. theey seek to belittle the Constitution while seeking its protection when needed. I'm sure the counterdemonstration gives the pro-Americans in Chester County, who are working and raising their children and leading a law-abiding life, a very good feeling to know there are those fellow citizens waving the flag and continuing to put themselves on the line to preserve and defend our freedom. We must let the radical anti-American demonstrators express themselves, but we can't let their radical beliefs destroy our democracy and install the Islamic ways they so vehemently defend
