Thank you, General Clark, for shaking up the democratic nomination race. Your military credentials helped restore a certain respect for democrats in this post 9/11 world.

You could have continued as others are doing, but you feel it now important to be active in the campaign by stumping for Democrats in the South and other swing states and serving as an adviser on national security issues.

Aides say you will also work to nudge the Democrats toward a more aggressive stance in challenging President Bush on issues of national security, faith, patriotism and values for the party.

You want us to win!

I will now throw my support behind the man who was at one time my first choice - John Kerry.

There should be a place for a man with your talent and credentials in the Kerry administration.

1. Sad to see him go
I was hoping the General would win at least one primary state. I think he made a good showing, considering this was his first shot at politics.

Kerry/Clark maybe?

The re:puke:'s would have no legs when it comes to National Security with a ticket that has 2 war heros.

6. Say it!
And I'm very proud of the 75 or so pledged delegates that he amassed. Hey, as a side note--anyone know what will happen to them? Will they still go to Boston to proudly represent him on the first ballot--especially assuming that Kerry does run away with this thing, there wouldn't be any harm in the other candidates' delegates representing what they've achieved, would there? Or can the candidates even release pledged delegates by state law?

2. I believe now that the remaining "contenders" are running vanity campaigns

With Edwards the only man competing at all with Kerry, I believe Dean, Sharpton, and Kucinich should follow Clark's example, gracefully bow out, and be active in the campaign by stumping for Democrats in the South and other swing states.

It is time for party unity.

Just my opinion.

4. I feel the same way, even thought we worked hard for Dean. However...
the longer the race uses up the airwaves, the less time Bush will have to contaminate them with his ads.

7. It may seem that way. But in reality..
If something unforseen happened to devastate the Kerry campaign, wel need an ace in the hole. I'm sure that's what Edwards is thinking.

12. Different perception
Agreed, but Edwards would be more of a 5 of spades in the hole. I remain hopeful that Clark will be the nominee after July 29th.

5. I'm sure the Republicans are breathing a sigh of relief
I don't think there was a Republican talking head that didn't say nasty things about Clark. They were nasty in every way. Now they are happy.

8. this news shocks me.
I thought for sure Clarke would stick it out longer than this, but I'm sure we haven't heard the last of him yet.

10. A hearty "Hail and Farewell" Gen Clark
But not for long. Clark's emergence and his impact on this race can't be denied. He made a strong statement about character, integrity, leadership and qualifications. This is a great man who cares deeply about this country and I believe he will always be there for us, no matter what. I believe he will work long and hard to defeat smirk and will be a strong influence during the meat of the campaign to come. I also believe that there is a place for him in a Kerry administration - if not the VP, Clark would make an outstanding Sec. of State and no one would be more suited for the job.

Thank you, Wes! You have nothing to be ashamed of and everything to look forward to. We will miss you as a Presendial candidate, but I know you are always going to do what is best for this country.

"Hail and Farewell"...but not ever forgotten!

BTW..I am bitterly disappointed in the voter turnout here in VA. It was disgraceful. But then, again, this is primarily a repuke state, so I suppose I can't be too damned upset about it.

13. Gen. Clark now has the freedom again to say whatever he pleases
about * and his band of thieves (unless he feels he has to restrict what he says if he's interested in some position in the new administration). He will not have to worry about offending voters. That is a good thing. I hope he will take a well-deserved rest, then return to speaking out.
