Lame Bush Apologist posts:
Not that the terrorists didn't try on the other watch. There was that little matter of the first WTC bombing in 1993. The terrorists stated their goal was to bring those buildings down then.
And my gentle, good-natured reply:
Yes, and we caught the fuckers who committed the '93 bombings too. For '01, we get a dubious catch with... Moussaui? *chirping crickets*
It is one of those perpetual Regnery-induced myths that Clinton "let Osama go". He came MUCH closer (15 minutes to be exact) to catching Osama than Chimpy McCokespoon will EVER come. It IS one of Clinton's regrettable failures that he did not catch him, but it wasn't for lack of effort. In fact, Chimpster's flip-flop on going from "we want him dead or alive" to "it doesn't matter where he is, it's not that important" may very well be the single greatest about-face act of cowardly waffling ever committed by a president (even a fake one like your coke-addled frat boy currently soiling the Oval Office).
So while we're playing this game of presidential Whose Your Daddy, I suppose someone should mention that it was that narcoleptic missed abortion named Ronald Reagan whose CIA trained and armed Osama to the teeth when he was our useful pawn on the Afghan front of the Cold War. When we cut Osama loose, a very common historical result of U.S foreign policy occurred: The blowback bit us in our ass. Shortsightedness and an eagerness to discard that which we all too easily use will do it every time.
The comparisons made by some between Lincoln and the Queer Smirking Cowboy of New Haven are laughable and disorienting. Lincoln was blessed with intellectual curiosity, abundant humility, and was always willing to listen to alternative opinions. His cabinet was filled with political rivals. Bush loves yes-people, and needs - like any narcissist - constant approval and validation. He is Incurious George, a tool, and an empty suit, full of bromides and faux-christian sloganeering that not even the best Madison Avenue marketing team could polish adequately. He's a latter day Nero, fiddling over a declining Empire.
It takes a seriously deep and disturbing amount of self-delusion and mental illness to rationalize Bush as anything above being a wretched puppet of various random business conglomerates - the energy industry in particular. From an ideological perspective I hold that this is wrong because it is anti-democratic, and therefore dangerous to liberty. The MBA/CEO disease has infected the body politic to such a degree not seen since the Gilded Age. Our elected representatives are bought and paid for by their lobbyist masters, with Bush leading the charge to Leave No CEO Behind. But it's also wrong because Bush is so goddamned incompetent, venal, and narcissistic, with a dangerous lack of humility and copious, unbridled arrogance, that ironically due to those very qualities, he may not even be able to pull off the NeoCon Agenda and theocratized codification of our laws after all.
Lastly, all you whiny fucking self-proclaimed "conservatives" have run ALL THREE BRANCHES of government (into the ground) for over a half decade now. The media is your accomplice. The "liberal media" hoax has been exposed for the shit-brained myth that it is. Big corporations, including defense contractors, own the major media outlets. Do you think they have a vested interest in destroying your fascist wet dream? If they are indeed turning hostile to Bush, it is because they too, are fed up with his vapidity and gross negligence.
He is the worst occupier of the Oval Office since his Mommy's distant cousin Franklin Pierce dawdled away in the White House some 150 years ago. Bush is a seeping shit stain on history - much too mediocre and useless to ever be vindicated. You know this is true on some deep and fundamental level, or none of you treacherous cretins would twist yourself six ways until Tuesday lamely defending him. Since you have no sense of shame about him, you obviously have none about yourselves. __________________
