It's the corruption, stupid
Tbe GOP is supporting a corrupt, morally reprehensible and fiscally irresponsible regime in Washington that is unwilling and unable to explain where the money is going. The amount of money that is unaccounted for in Iraq has been estimated at $9,000,000,000.00 (Nine Billion Dollars) and counting.

This amount of money is greater than that taken in by 32 of the 50 United States in their accounts for fiscal year 2004. See this report for verification: http://www.nasbo.org/Publications/fiscalsurvey/fsspring...

The Bush Administration has 'lost' in Iraq more money that these states individually took in and spent on education, infrastructure, health care, salaries, road maintenance, construction and upkeep:

Maine
New Hampshire
VErmont
Rhode Island
Delaware
Michigan
Iowa
Kansas
Missouri
Nebraska
North Dakota
South Dakota
Alabama
Arkansas
Kentucky
Louisiana
Mississippi
South Carolina
Tennessee
West Virginia
Arizona
New MExico
Oklahoma
Colorado
Idaho
Montana
Utah
Wyoming
Alaska
Hawaii
Nevada
Oregon

Repeat, the Bush Administration refuses to account for this missing NINE BILLION DOLLARS! They don't believe they should be held accountable by Congress or the American people for this colossal piece of mismanagement and cronyism.

We need to get this message across. The Bushies have lost more money than it takes to run the state of Tennessee for one whole year. If that isn't corruption than I don't know what is.

I am not an accountant and numbers can lie. I am asking for some imput on this and any corrections that are needed. Then I can start writing some letters to the editor based on this stuff.

2. That's the soft underbelly the Dems should push, and yet, silence.....
I mean, what would be the repug response to a serious call for investigation of the already documented loss of billions of tax dollars? I feel, however, that all politicians are beholden to the corporate thieves. So silence prevails......

3. No Accountability And No One Within The Beltway Seems To Care
It is long overdue for a massive shakeup on BOTH SIDES of the aisle in upcoming elections. We need to send our legislators at all levels of government a resounding message, "We are mad as hell and we're NOT going to take it from you and your corrupt cronies anymore!!!"

Vote out corrupt incumbents. This type of change is only going to come at the ballot box.

4. A few billion here, a few billion there,
pretty soon you're talking about some real money.

The 9 billion missing was from more than a year ago - I've no doubt they've "misplaced" several billions more since then.

5. Right on Target! Corruption is the killer issue!
Corruption is the killer issue, but one unlikely to be addressed by either of the two major parties because there is so much money flowing into both parties neither can address it with clean hands.

reasonable and probably low estimates and assuming that the US will maintain a military presence there for another 5 years:

Over A TRILLION DOLLARS. which is over $10,000 for every US household!!!!!

Calculations reported in this NYT op/ed:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2021276
thread title: NY Times op/ed: "The Trillion-Dollar War" - How many realize how much {they are paying for Bush's wars in CASH, let alone the deaths, maimings, trauma, and all the other horrors here and abroad?}

And meanwhile, back at home, the scope of the unneeded funding for "transportation" projects handed out to areas with GOP favorites like the very shady Frank "The Bank" Murkowski, is HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. Totally wasted. Read about this jaw-dropping Alaska story here:

Thread title: NYT op/ed on Republican PORK - PORK - PORK in Alaska - YOU'RE paying!
You will find it hard to believe, but it's TRUE.

copy of the report. It's sort of a variation of the "My dog ate my homework" defense. Besides, keeping track of 3 trillion 9 billion is hard work. The real question should be, why do you hate America?

14. This, no doubt,
is the most corrupt government in US history. The whole repub/neocon cabal is and some of the dems as well. I really don't know how we stem it because they are entrenched, have a co-opted media, and declared some of our constitutional liberties null and void. We are in deep do do.

20. Yeah, since when did all those pukes start trusting big government?
Was it since 9/11? Did that terror have such an impact on them that they decided to flip-flop and begin completely trusting what big government told them was the god honest truth?

What virus has attached itself to the brains of all those conservatives who used to rant and rave about government spending?

Where did the sound idea of fiscal responsibility go? Oh wait, they are pukes, eh?
