George Bush and CNP tied to scams and cheating voting machines!
Edited on Sat Oct-23-04 06:38 AM by Bozos for Bush
Wouldn't it be nice if we could destroy George Bush and the vast right wing conspiracy? It is my belief that all the ammunition we need is right here.

We have tied George Bush to fundraising scams, via his Council for National Policy (CNP)comrades.

In addition, we have detailed links between CNP members and associates, and Paula Jones, Swift Boat Liars, Stolen Honor, Rathergate, Moonies, Nazis, and cheating voting machines.

Fellow DU patriots - many people have worked on this story, some a lot longer than myself, so please see the bottom of this very long post because they deserve recognition, some much more than myself. Extensive documentation is provided at the end of this summary, proving our case beyond a shadow of a doubt.

The following organizations and people are a major reason why we are at war in our own country right now. They are all tied to George Bush by way of friends, and fellow CNP bad guys:

1. Response Dynamics
- They exist for one reason only - they operate turnkey scams for CNP clients that target vets, the elderly, and others. They receive a percentage of all contributions, and their clients include Gary Jarmin and the Ridenours, CNP members.

2. Gary Jarmin - this CNP guy is a major client of Response Dynamics, and specializes in scary Social Security scam letters that target our elderly and support Bush. In addition, he runs several other companies and so-called charities out of his home in Alexandria, Virgina, such as Christian Voice, JAR-MON Consultants, the US Cuba Foundation, and American Christian Cause - which the state of Pennysylvania has issued a cease and desist order against. Jarmin is directly linked to Bush and his dad, Timothy Lahaye, Moon, the John Birch Society, Newt Gingrich, and he has been operating scams since at least 1998.

3. The Ridenours - Amy, David, and Elizabeth - Elizabeth is CNP, while Amy scams seniors with scary health insurance letters. She used to work at Response Dynamics, now she is their client. Met her husband David thanks to Morton Blackwell, and today operates the National Center for Public Policy (NCFPP). She has strong links to Jack Amramoff, Richard Scaife, and the College Republican National Committee, which also uses Response Dynamics to raise millions from unfortunate souls.

4. Tim Lahaye - Behind the scenes co-founder of the Moral Majority, author of the Left Behind books, CNP, co-founder of the American Coalition for Traditional Values with Gary Jarmin, and the biggest reason why George Bush was (s)elected president in 2000. It was Lahaye who interviewed and approved George Bush as the candidate that the CNP/Religious Right would support in 2000.

In addition, the following people and companies have also been identified in the evidence below as part of this vast, facist operation: Bruce Eberle (scammer and friend of Ashcroft and Paula Jones), Richard Viguerie (CNP and Richard Scaife), Mike Krempasky, Roger Stone, Thomas Ellis, Paul Weyrich, Falwell, Harry MacDougald, the late Larry McDonald, Jack Abramoff, Carlton Sherwood (Stolen Honor), Floyd Brown (Willie Horton ad), Keyes, Jeb Bush (CNP like George and direct link to voting machines), Chief Justice Rehnquist (linked to CNP), Supreme Court Justice Scalia (Heritage Foundation, Starr and Ashcroft), and the list goes on and on.

Below is a huge amount of links that document everything above. It is getting very hard to organize, but I hope I've done an adequate job at summarizing the highlights. And yet, it's so huge that I find it hard to remember everything we have accomplished, and I apologize for that.

Without koko01, starroute, salvorhardin, and George_S, this post would not be possible. They are the real brains behind this journey that we are now on. I also want to thank amen1234, plastic_turkeys, votejohn04_com, OutsourceBush, Peter1x9, Evil, Rose, Teach1st, and others.

Here are the links to our findings,

John

Edited on Sat Oct-23-04 06:40 AM by Bozos for Bush
The vast right wing conspiracy is a monster. What does this monster need to survive, grow, and completely take over our country?

Money
Political power
Keep the majority of Americans in the dark about their agenda
Control the courts
Control the news media

If we do not destroy them, they will destroy us.

Please find the time to expand our research, or spread this information.

Thank you,

John

31. Sources of public records (corporate etc.) on the web
Here's a web site that has many links for obtaining corporate information on the web, they say they are the 'largest directory of links to free public record databases on the Internet':

<http://www.searchsystems.net/>

A while ago I did some investigation into a cult, so I have some experience with this and would be happy to help out. It's amazing what can be found out if you dig enough, sometimes it can be quite difficult due to hiding mechanisms. I'll see if I can find what web sites I used before, but Search Systems looks quite comprehensive.

80. Rutherford Institute = Christian Reconstructionism
Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 04:12 PM by starroute
"The other interesting California link to the "vast . . conspiracy" is the Rutherford Institute headed by John Whitehead, Esq., a member of the Council for National Policy, who is now the lead attorney representing Paula Jones. The Rutherford Institute was founded at the behest of the Reverend R. J. Rushdoony of Chalcedon, Inc., located in Vallecito CA. He also served on the board of directors along with multimillionaire Howard Ahmanson, Jr. co-founder of the Allied Business PAC. Both men are members of the Council for National Policy."

http://watch.pair.com/database1.html

And there are a lot of different Liberty Alliances, but the likeliest one is associated with Jerry Falwell:

http://www.streamingfaith.com/tab__qWkJTZkM+UI=/keywords__News+Details/tz__dttHOhmgvus=/nid__3zyJIa/5Nmk=/default.aspx

Barry Lynn, executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, recently asked the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to investigate Falwell because of a column posted in July on the Web site of Falwell's Liberty Alliance, a nonprofit educational and lobbying organization similar to his defunct Moral Majority, the Associated Press reported.

Titled "Time to Open Wallets for Bush," the column, said: "For conservative people of faith, voting for principle this year means voting for the re-election of George W. Bush. The alternative, in my mind, is simply unthinkable."

IRS tax rules state that churches can speak out on moral issues, but should not favor one candidate over another. Falwell has said he did nothing wrong, noting that his comments were not made under the auspices of his Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg or other Falwell tax-exempt entities.

83. The Seniors Coalition, Jerry Falwell, and the Washington Times
I found this at the webiste of the Life Extension Foundation, which seems to be one of those groups that believes if we took the right vitamins we could all live forever. They've been involved in the struggle to pass a bill to enable Americans to import lower-priced drugs from other countries. I don't know why the religious right is getting so heavily involved with the pro-corporate and anti-regulation right, but that seems to be the latest trend.

The drug lobby even went as far as to write a letter opposing the bill that was printed on the stationery of a large church group. This church letter was then mass mailed to constituents in Congressional members’ home districts. The clear objective of this campaign was to intimidate members of Congress into voting against the drug importation bill.

The highest-profile effort to oppose this drug import bill has been from a group called the “Seniors Coalition.” This organization has spent millions on radio and newspaper ads, mailings and a phone bank urging people to ask their member of Congress to vote against the bill. This Seniors Coalition says it needs to protect Americans from dangerous foreign drugs. The problem is that this group is partially funded by drug companies.

The pharmaceutical industry made it appear that everyone was against the right of Americans to purchase lower-cost medications from other countries. The Wall Street Journal and other newspapers wrote editorials against it. The FDA said it would open the floodgates to unsafe drugs of unknown origins. Even Reverend Jerry Falwell was induced to publish a slanderous attack against The Life Extension Foundation and others for supporting this bill. (Refer to the AS WE SEE IT column in this issue for our rebuttal to Falwell’s attack on Life Extension.)

Eight days after Jerry Falwell’s editorial against Life Extension appeared in The Washington Times, an FDA agent showed up at our facilities.
This was not a run-of-the-mill FDA field inspector, but a highly trained specialist who knew what she was doing. This FDA inspector tied up our entire legal team for a week while the drug importation bill was being rushed to the House floor for a vote.

79. The same Ron Kanfer, not the same David Kunko (NM vs VA area)
Nice post mcg!

Response Dynamics - Ron Kanfer, President, David Kunko, Chairman

Response Dynamics also owns the following companies: Direct Response Data Management, Best Lists, Inc. (this one looks interesting) and Mid America Printing, Inc.

Ron Kanfer is directly tied to YAF, Young Americans for Freedom.

YAF key personnel today - Erik K. Johnson (Chairman), Darren Marks (vice Chairman)

Their legal counsel is Wewer & Lacy, LLP - "Law Firm for Non-Profit Organizations." (hilarious - and I bet we can find more dirt there).

87. Kanfer sounds interesting.
Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 05:02 PM by starroute
Young Americans for Freedom was founded by William Buckley in 1960. It was heavily infiltrated in the early years by John Birch Society members, but (despite what you read at some of the CNP sites) the Birchers never actually managed to take it over. Young America's Foundation (a name which has come up several times on these threads) was a spin-off.

I've been wondering who it was in Response Dynamics that tied it to all these other groups. Kanfer is probably the missing link.

On edit: Ron Robinson is mentioned in the YAF history you linked to:

"1972 also saw the founding of YAF's Student Government Advisory Council, which held meetings in Chicago and Washington. The Council was created to win conservative victories at the student government level. It sponsored workshops and speaking tours by Phillip Abbott Luce, YAF National Chairman Ron Docksai, and National Director Ron Robinson."

Robinson is someone whose name first turned up in these threads as endorsing the direct-mailing firm of a woman who had previously worked for both Response Dynamics and Bruce Eberle. He's been president of Young America's Foundation and director of Citizens United -- two groups which are also connected with Floyd Brown. Brown was involved in the 1988 Willie Horton ad and was also named in a 1996 complaint to the FEC along with Response Dynamics. Robinson also contributed money to the congressional campaign of Charlie Gerow, the publicist for "Stolen Honor."

And, oh yes, he's CNP as well.

So simply on that basis, a Robinson/Kanfer link looks very likely.

92. Frank Donatelli -- another YAF/Charlie Gerow connection
http://hoohila.stanford.edu/firingline/programView.php?programID=382

This is a page on a 1977 Hoover Institution retrospective about YAF, hosted by William Buckley. The guests include Ron Robinson, Frank Donatelli, and Michelle Easton (who is now Robinson's wife.)

http://www.campaignmoney.com/political/campaigns/charlie_gerow.asp

This shows Frank J. Donatelli of Alexandria, VA as one of several high-powered out-of-state contributors to Charlie Gerow's unsuccessful 2000 primary campaign.

http://www.mwcllc.com/people/individuals/donatelli_f.asp

And here's a page from the firm where he's currently a vice-president, saying, "He served on White House Chief of Staff James Baker's team that negotiated presidential debates in early 1984 and ran Baker's 1978 campaign for Attorney General of Texas. He also assisted Baker in the 2000 Florida recount on behalf of the Bush-Cheney team. Frank was a senior advisor to Bob Dole in 1996 and previously worked in the presidential campaigns of George Bush and Ronald Reagan."

http://www.progressforamerica.com/pfa/wrapper.jsp?PID=1101-165&CID=1101-112403B

ABC <Americans for a Better Country> has been linked to George Terwilliger, one of the attorneys for Bush during the 2000 Florida recount, as well as GOP consultants Craig Shirley and Frank Donatelli.

Craig Shirley is someone who was connected with the Willie Horton. He was also part of the anti-Clinton movement, having both Paula Jones and Gary Aldrich as clients.

http://campaignsolutions.com/hdcs/who/

Campaign Solutions is a fundraising organization run by Frank Donatelli's wife, Rebecca.

And while we're on the subject of Frank Donatelli, who could forget this five-star Jon Stewart classic:

98. Some dirt on George Terwilliger -- and the CBS memos
This is wandering away a bit from the focus on direct-mail fundraising -- but it's also opening up fascinating new territory.

http://www.mail-archive.com/ctrl@listserv.aol.com/msg58356.html

"George W. Terwilliger is the former Deputy Attorney General under Ed Meese, who acted as the Political Liability Suppression Officer for the Department of Justice in the post-Iran-Contra environment.

"Terwilliger, in concert with his sinister hatchet man Lowell Jensen (now Federal District Judge Lowell Jensen) acted to suppress or manipulate Iran-Contra prosecutions in sensitive jurisdictions, particularly in Miami to ensure that no government connection would be mentioned."

http://stommel.tamu.edu/~baum/ethel/2004_10_03_ethel-archive.html

Al Martin's had a couple of good columns on the <memos> scam perpetrated on those gormless weenies at CBS, and I'll summarize his main points.

<snip>

CBS got nailed because they were the most active in investigating the malefactors in the post-1986 Iran-Contra environment. From 1986 to 1992, CBS was by far the most active in investigating the basic cabal scams, i.e. Iran-Contra, Iraqgate, BCCI, etc.

<snip>

There's a reason besides revenge for targeting CBS. CBS, i.e. <Sumner> Redstone <of Viacom>, has hired Richard Thornburgh and George Terwilliger to "investigate" the scandal. Both Thornburgh and Terwilliger (as well as others who will assist them) were neck-deep in covering up the damage of the Iraq-Contra scandal when the shit hit the fan in 1986. Thornburgh, as Attorney General, did everything he could to delay the breaking of the scandal, and both he and Terwilliger - the deputy Attorney General under Ed Meese - were active in covering things up after it broke. The CBS archives still contain the records of their investigations of Iran-Contra eta. from 1986 to 1992, and guess who's going to get complete access to those archives for their "investigation" of CBS? Perhaps the largest remaining repository of primary documents (interviews, etc.) about Iran-Contra is going to be thoroughly cleansed of evidence by cabal soldiers Thornburgh and Terwilliger.

103. More on Terwilliger and the Iran-Contra coverup
I'm starting to think there's something to the theory that George W. Bush was elected with the express purpose of covering up George H.W.'s misdeeds.

http://www.democrats.com/view.cfm?id=7506

The man who replaced Louis Freeh as FBI director that summer was Robert Mueller, a man whose name was way near the bottom of the list of people the FBI considered best for the job. But Mueller had qualities that put him at the very top of G.W. Bush's list. In the 1980s, Mueller was third in command in the FBI under George Terwilliger. Mueller apparently put in a lot of overtime working to keep the Iran-Contra scheme under wraps, and then, once things got sticky for Reagan, helped the Dept. of Justice's Domestic Criminal Secition Chief Dave Margolis and International Criminal Section Chief Mark Richards limit liability for Reagan, and then Bush, Sr. According to political watchdog Al Martin, Mueller personally handled damage containment for Bush Sr. during Bush's potentially scandalous dealings with Jordanian coffee merchant Mansour Barbouti. Barbouti was involved in the illegal exportation of chemicals used in chemical weapons to both Iraq and Iran.

So, while on the FBI payroll technically, Mueller appeared to have worked in actuality as a master cover up artist for Republican presidents involved in scheming and intrigues. So...what better man could Bush, involved up to his eyebrows in scheming and intrigues, want? If Mueller could shield Bush, Sr. and Reagan from consequences while just the No. 3 man - just imagine the tracks he could sweep clean as FBI director!

Porter Goss, of course, has now put in as CIA head to perform exactly the same function as Mueller did at the FBI.

And by the way, the Barbouti matter which Mueller may have helped cover up (if Al Martin is to be believed -- opinions vary) is what's sometimes known as Iraqgate. There have been a couple of threads on it here at DU and it's potentially very toxic for the Bushies.

106. Terwilliger and Restricted Access Group 2
I found an old DU post (through Google) which quotes from an Al Martin article which is probably no longer freely available online. Again, take Martin with a grain of salt -- but if true, this is highly significant.

The particular important of all this is that Frank Donatelli is one figure who is both directly connected with the administration and also a possible link to "Stolen Honor." His associate, George Terwilliger, is even more deeply implicated in Bushite matters -- and may also have a connection to the CBS memos scam. If those connections could be proven, it would be even more explosive than linking this stuff to the CNP.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/cgi-bin/duforum/duboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=1570&forum=DCForumID35&archive=yes

The logical conclusion is that George Bush Jr. is trying to put together the old RAG-1 (Restricted Access Group 1). He is reassembling the group of which Elliott Abrams and Dickie Armitage were former members. There was also Frank Carlucci, then National Security advisor and then Assistant Secretary of State Bernard Aronson.

Restricted Access Group 1 was chaired by the Vice President, George Bush Sr. It was the highest restricted group that existed in the Iran-Contra operations. It directly reported to the Vice President, who was after all ultimately in charge of all Iran-Contra operations, insofar as all Iran-Contra operations were consolidated under his office.

RAG-1 had monthly meetings and they communicated with each other. They acted as the Vice President's and Bill Casey's eyes and ears throughout all the other agencies,. They were the ultimate group that controlled political and legal liability for the Reagan-Bush administration visavis Iran-Contra activities. They were the ultimate liability control group.

They enforced directives by making recommendations to the Vice President which would then be forwarded to Director Casey. The recommendations would include the destruction of documents, the prosecution or inconveniencing of people who knew too much, and they would even make recommendations that individuals be liquidated. What individuals were to be pressured, harassed, exiled, intimidated, falsely convicted of something. Who was to be set up. Who would be made a scapegoat. And what other suppressive activities were to take place within the RAG-2 group. The RAG-2 Group included George Terwilliger of the Department of Justice and Bobby Gates of the CIA.

125. Americans for a Better Country
It turns out that Americans for a Better Country was the source of the attempt this summer to dramatically limit the activities of progressive 527's.

http://www.bushgreenwatch.org/mt_archives/000089.php

Last month the Federal Elections Commission voted 5-1 to consider rule changes that could drastically alter the legal status of many activist nonprofits, including environmental organizations.

If the proposal rules are approved, groups across the political spectrum may be forced to give up their core advocacy work or conform to stringent fundraising and financial reporting requirements usually reserved for political committees.

<snip>

According to People For the American Way, "The chilling effect of the proposed rules on free speech cannot be overstated. Merely expressing an opinion about an officeholder's policies could turn a nonprofit group overnight into a federally regulated political committee with crippling fund-raising restrictions."

The FEC is considering this change in response to pressure from a Republican political committee, "Americans for a Better Country."<3> The group was organized last year specifically to establish "an aggressive voter-mobilization and issue ad campaign to out-raise and out-spend ... the liberal groups whose stated mission is the defeat of George Bush."

126. Carmen Group
http://www.whitehouseforsale.org/ContributorsAndPaybacks/pioneer_profile.cfm?pioneer_ID=544

David Carmen and his dad, Gerald, formed the Carmen Group lobby firm in 1984. New Hampshire’s former GOP Chair, Gerald Carmen did stints under President Reagan as United Nations ambassador, head of the General Services Administration and chair of Reagan’s lobby group: Citizens for America (see Jack Abramoff). Carmen Group billed 54 clients more than $4.3 million in 2002. Its biggest catch was the Related Companies ... To bankroll its huge, mixed-use developments, Related often taps public pension funds and secures corporate welfare from local governments. The Dallas City Council approved a controversial $43 million aid package in 2002 for a $600 million project that Related cooked up with the California Public Employees Retirement System, Ross Perot, Jr. and <Bush> Pioneer Tom Hicks.

<snip>

Other top Carmen Group clients include Sunrise Assisted Living and Pyramid Management Group. Families of six nursing home residents--including the mother-in-law of Colorado Senate President John Andrews--sued Sunrise for negligence in 2003 after a resident starved to death. Pyramid Management was found guilty in 1996 of coercing and firing employees who tried to organize a union. Pyramid manages Albany’s Crossgates Mall, where shopper Stephen Downs was arrested in 2003 for wearing a T-shirt that said, "Give Peace a Chance."

Carmen Group’s most notorious client is the corrupt regime of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev. U.S. authorities are probing how $115 million from Amoco (see David Work), Phillips Petroleum and Mobil landed in the foreign bank accounts of Nazarbayev and his top officials. In a solicitation obtained by the Financial Times, Gerald Carmen offered to burnish the regime’s U.S. image for just $1 million.

David Carmen is active with several other Pioneers in the K Street Project, in which GOP lobbyists harness their clout and that of their clients to advance the GOP’s agenda.

127. David Carmen and Lewis Lehrman
Lewis Lehrman is another of those mysterious figures who donated to Charlie Gerow's 2000 primary campaign. He has a long history in various Republican causes -- including being an investor in Arbusto Energy back in 1977! (http://www.motherjones.com/news/feature/2000/03/slick.html) But I haven't been able to tie him into the dirty-tricks wing of the party. However, here is an association between his organization, Citizens for America, and David Carmen. (And note in the post just above that Carmen is also tied to Jack Abramoff, another of Gerow's donors.)

http://www.lew82.com/candidate/citizens/main_print.html

The idea for Citizens for America, a grassroots citizens lobbying organization in support of President Ronald Reagan, came from San Francisco businessman Jack Hume, a close friend of the President.

<snip>

Lew met with Jack Hume who passed along his recommendation to President Reagan. The President then asked to see Lew. "The President and I had a long talk," Lew told Blumenthal. "The conclusions of our discussion were very simple. We agreed we needed a national league, an activist enterprise, people who agreed on first principles, that would focus on economic and national security policies. Our first purpose is to induce a mutation in the climate of opinion in America among opinion leaders. We would join the intellectual debate in every town, village, and city through our Congressional district committees. We would also lobby Congress. Finally, we concluded that this would be the work of a lifetime. Just as the social democratic ideas took two generations to complete, so our work requires the remainder of the working lifetimes of the people involved."

<snip>

CFA's board members included a wide array of Conservative leaders including Holly Coors, Joseph Coors, Richard DeVos, Edwin Feulner, Theodore Forstmann, Richard Gilder, Fred Jones Hall, Richard Headlee, Robert Krieble and Holmes Tuttle. The group organized rapidly in the second half of 1983 - setting up headquarters on Massachusetts Avenue near the Capitol. Lew explained its structure in an interview with Human Events:
We have a headquarters office on the third floor of the Heritage building, on Capitol Hill. There we have a small research staff headed by Dave Carmen, who is in charge of our Policy and Communications Group. We gather the best evidence and data we can from the research of the Heritage Foundation, the American Enterprise Institute, Hoover, among others ...

Coors? DeVos? Feulner? Krieble? Sounds like CNP old home week.

Nice one Outsource! There is no way in hell all these people and organizations are just doing their own thing...this is coordinated. Just look what's happening this very day - voter registration cards thrown away, ballots being printed without Kerry's name in Ohio...now mistakes happen, but those kinds of things should never happen.

Before I take a break from this today, I'm going to try to link Nathan Sproul (vote registration scams) to all this.

67. L. Brent Bozell is worth further investigation
I checked him out a little in connection with his Media Research Center's promotion of the CBS memo story, and I've run into more on him since. Here's some of what I've got.

http://www.mediatransparency.org/recipients/mrc.htm

"...it is Bozell's Media Research Center that stands out as the right's preeminent media cop. Bozell is a Republican operative with credentials earned in George Bush's 1988 presidential campaign. The nephew of William F. Buckley, he headed the Conservative Victory Committee that year. He is also connected to the Political Club for Growth, a network of conservative and libertarian activists and groups sympathetic to cutting taxes and shrinking government.

<snip>

"Opposes any traces of liberalism on TV or in films. Chairman L. Brent Bozell III publishes the newsletter TV, ETC., with an advisory board that includes Elliot Abrams, Mona Charen, Pete DuPont, and Rush Limbaugh."

He's also on the board of the American Conservative Union, along with Jesse Helms, Grover Norquist, and Morton Blackwell. According to Disinfopedia, he ran the smear campaign against Clarence Thomas's opponents. And he's CNP, of course.

His father was also active on the right:

http://www.seekgod.ca/cnp.be.htm#bozell

"He is the nephew of columnist William F. Buckley and the son of L. Brent Bozell, Jr., who assisted Barry Goldwater with the writing of Conscience of a Conservative, which recommended resistance to the school integration ruling of 1954, repudiation of the doctrine of peaceful coexistence and the aggressive use of tactical nuclear weapons against vulnerable Communist regimes. L. Brent Bozell Jr. was William Buckley's Yale classmate and brother-in-law, who also wrote foreign policy speeches for Senator Joseph McCarthy. A close associate of the late Terry Dolan, the closeted gay founder of the National Conservative Political Action Committee, Bozell served for several years as the Dolan organization's finance chairman and president."

In other words, he's right in the thick of it.

116. Regnery family's quasi-fascist background
There was a long thread on this a few months back. Unfortunately, it seems the DU archives have just gone missing until after the election -- I guess that's better than having everything on the site slow to a crawl, but it's going to be a real pain in the butt.

As I recall, the Regnery family story starts with William H. Regnery, who was a member of the America First Committee before World War II and worked closely with General Robert E. Wood (whose daughter married William Stamps Farish Jr. and was a close friend of George H.W. and Barbara Bush.)

William's son Henry became a publisher of revisionist histories and other extreme right-wing books after the war. Alfred is Henry's son. And that thread we can't get to grew out of a story about another Regnery -- I believe Alfred's brother -- who is running a white supremacist dating service.

Alfred is also said to be a member of Opus Dei.

There's a fair amount of information on Regnery in an account of the early days of the John Birch Society at http://alexconstantine.50megs.com/the_early_days.html

And more in a page on Scaife and the anti-Clinton jihad at http://www.ajweberman.com/monica.htm

Both of these sites are slightly hysterical in tone but provide a great deal of background information on many of the people we are interested in. The CNP was only founded in 1981, but most of its original members had been active in the right-wing for years, and a large number of them came out of the John Birch Society.

8. And we have our 2nd bingo of the morning - Nathan Sproul's ties
http://www.alternet.org/election04/20194/

AlterNet has learned that Sproul, the former Arizona Republican Party and Christian Coalition director, has cozy ties to a group of consultants working on the Bush/Cheney campaign. According to a Democratic source well-placed in Arizona political circles, Sproul's firm, Sproul and Associates, operates next door to the office of Gordon C. James Public Relations (GCJPR) in Phoenix, a Republican PR company which is coordinating various Bush/Cheney campaign events nationwide and has provided PR services for the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq. Last spring, one of GCJPR's executives, who is an advisory board member of Bush's re-election campaign, served as the chair of a ballot campaign Sproul was quarterbacking, while, according to the source, Sproul collaborated with a GCJPR employee who is a White House consultant on a scheme to get independent candidate Ralph Nader on the Arizona ballot. In both instances, Sproul's company, Voter Outreach of America, was involved in gathering signatures.

snip

The cozy ties between Sproul and Bush operatives should raise a serious question: Is Sproul simply an overzealous lone wolf, or are his activities part of a concerted effort by the Bush/Cheney campaign to subvert the democratic process?

Gordon C. James, the founder and director of GCJPR, is a longtime Bush apparatchik. According to his bio on GCJPR's website, James helped handle media relations for President George H.W. Bush as the White House "lead advance representative." During George W. Bush's 2000 presidential campaign, James' firm handled PR and event management for Bush's Iowa Caucus campaign, all three debates against Al Gore, two campaign train trips and his election night festivities in Austin, Texas. Recently, GCJPR organized a Bush mega-rally in Phoenix and an appearance by Laura Bush at another campaign rally in Minneapolis. James also worked for five months as L. Paul Bremer's spinmeister in Baghdad.

James said all of his firm's activities on behalf of the Bush/Cheney campaign were performed "on a volunteer basis," though GCJPR has received funding this year from the Republican National Committee. And James maintained that though he knows Sproul, they don't work together. "Nathan works more on the political side," James stated. "We're a PR firm."

Sproul did not respond to requests for an interview.

snip

And there's a lot more good reading here.

Meanwhile, back in Arizona, Nathan Sproul's firm is in danger of dissolution.
On September 22, the state issued a "Notice of Pending Administrative

appears that the state can't get ahold of Sproul, who seems to have provided
an "undeliverable domestic address" for his company. Indeed, it's starting to
look like Sproul may not intend his company to last beyond this election cycle.
More to come...."

This page at daily KOS has lots of info including:

"Sproul is connected with the Republican National Committee-funded voter
registration organization, Voter Outreach, Inc., a group that used paid
registrars to register voters in a number of states including Nevada,
Oregon, Arizona and perhaps more, including Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maine
and Missouri. (Others states pending, particularly swing states.)
Sproul's organization also recruited registrars by fraudulently telling
recruits that they would be working for America Votes, a legitimate
nonpartisan GOTV operation!

But Nathan Sproul may have made one fatal mistake in his efforts...
He got greedy. Yes, he failed to pay many workers and he didn't pay
his rent. He pissed some people off. And he raised suspicions.
There is a good chance that this may be fraud on a MASSIVE scale..."

10. Bush knows President Kerry will want to dig into this
And that is why Bush is so desperate.

"The House leadership will try to undermine Kerry. I’m sure they’ll try to impeach him almost immediately. On anything." - Krugman.

http://www.mollyivins.com/showArticle.asp?ArticleID=1777

Some have asked what we can do after Kerry wins. Maybe our best efforts will be to continue this on a state by state basis, helping each other dig into the states. The same corruption and deception must be happening on the state level by the "House leadership." The DeLay investigation is only the tip of the black iceberg.

http://www.mikehersh.com/Tom_DeLays_Ethics_Violations.shtml

If we don't bring down the House this election, then the goal should be to bring it down in the next. That means concentrating on the states.

55. No doubt george, we have to continue this regardless of the outcome
As our investigation becomes more and more coherent to people besides ourselves, I hope we'll get more and more volunteers in here to join us. I've spent a good deal of time doing PR work, and it slowly seems to be working...I hope :)

No doubt Kerry remembers Jarmin from past congressional hearings. No doubt he knows all about the CNP. I bet they really fear him, more than they ever feared Clinton, and bad people with power seldom voluntarily give it up, so we could be in for a rough road.

Salvorhardin is working on something right now that, if successful, will help us out a lot. I'm sure he will brief the board if it works out - the sneak preview he allowed me to see has great potential.

Should get to bed lol

11. Lot's of connections - but possibly one crime - Federal Election Fraud
Lot's of troubling connections of important figures - Moon and the CNP being two of the worst. But even as bad as those are, I'm not sure they are a crime. But the information we are seeing in regards to the alleged Voter fraud from the big three voting machine companies would be a *Federal* crime and lot's of people could be in deep sh*t if it gets investigated.

Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 01:16 AM by Sophree
I don't know if you guys have covered this yet, but I did a search on the Scaife-funded Western Journalism Center.

http://www.mediatransparency.org/search_results/info_on_any_recipient.php?recipientID=2400

mediatransparency.org lists donations to the Western Journalism Center from the William H. Donner Foundation, the Roe Foundation (anti-abortion?) and the Castle Rock Foundation, which has "focused on the investigation into Vincent Foster's death."

******

http://www.publiceye.org/conspire/clinton/Clintonculwar8-06.html

Western Journalism Center - Joseph Farah

The Western Journalism Center, (WSJ) is a project of Joseph Farah, former publisher of the ultra-conservative Sacramento Union-once owned by Scaife.47 The Carthage Foundation, controlled by Scaife, is one of the largest funders of the WSJ

Founded in 1991, for several years the major product of WJC was a small newsletter, Dispatches, once billed as "From the front lines of the culture war." According to Lieberman, Farah has assembled for the Western Journalism Center:

a high-profile board of advisers to help with fund-raising, including such conservative luminaries as Sally Pipes, president of the Pacific Research Institute, Marvin Olasky, a professor of journalism at the University of Texas, and Arianna Huffington. Both Olasky and Huffington are senior fellows at Newt Gingrich's Progress & Freedom Foundation.

Scaife also funds the Pacific Research Institute and GOPAC

The Center placed some 50 ads reprinting Ruddy's Tribune-Review stories in the Washington Times, then repackaged the articles as a packet titled "The Ruddy Investigation," which sold for $12. Farah also bought full page ads publicizing Christopher Ruddy's allegations that appeared in papers including The New York Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, and Los Angeles Times. The ad campaign brought in over $500,000, half from individual donors-many of whom bought Foster conspiracy materials-and half from foundations, including $100,000 from Carthage...

NTU's research arm receives funds from Scaife. Davidson is a large financial contributor to Farah's Western Journalism Center, which gave its first "Courage in Journalism Awards" to Ruddy, reporter David Brock of the Scaife-funded American Spectator, and ABC correspondent John Stossel, whose reports often repackage themes from conservative and libertarian think tanks.

David Brock- I wonder if he can add any insight.

http://www.seekgod.ca/cnp.f.htm

The Heritage Foundation received $2.2 million from the Federation of Korean Industries in the early 1980s. Initially it was believed this donation came from the Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA) (which would make the Heritage Foundation a foreign agent of Korea), but the Federation later stated that the donation came at the encouragement of the KCIA.. 28

Feulner was recruited in 1977 by Richard Scaife, heir of the Mellon fortune, to become Heritage president, a position he holds today. In 1975, Feulner was introduced to KCIA station chief Kim Yung Hwan by Neil Salonen and Dan Feffernan of the Freedom Leadership foundation.' Salonen was head of Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church in the United States. The Freedom Leadership Foundation (FLF), a political arm of Moon's Unification network was linked to the World Anti-Communist League (WACL). The FLF was described as 'an organization to be used to achieve KCIA objectives,' by the Congressional report, which was based on a KCIA document that discussed FLF."

The Freedom Leadership Foundation- the political arm of the Unification Church and a front for the KCIA. And the Unification Church itself- the fundraiser/money launderer for the entire operation?

Also, Scaife seems to be in charge of disseminating neocon/neo-fascist propaganda, including that which is intended to destroy fascism's real or perceived enemies. It may also be personal with him, but this seems like his official duty in the extreme right's own intelligence community.

99. Western Journalism Center and Castle Rock Foundation (Coors)
Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 06:25 PM by Bozos for Bush
http://www.mediatransparency.org/funders/castle_rock.htm

(some of this was already posted by Sophree)

Western Journalism Center - Joseph Farah, Exec. Director (WORLDNETDAILY, buddy of Rush Limbaugh), heavily funded by Richard Scaife, reeived almost $100,000 from Castle Rock Foundation.

Castle Rock Foundation - created with $36 million from Adolph Coors estate, investigated Vince Foster's death...(lots of snipping)

The foundation (also) pays membership fees to the Council for National Policy, where seven Coors family members, including Holly, Jeffrey, Carin and Darden, all "attend meetings or are members," according to Jerry Sloan.

In 1973, Joseph Coors backed Paul Weyrich, a champion of right-wing causes and later co-creator of the Moral Majority, when he decided to create a conservative think tank in Washington, D.C., that eventually became the Heritage Foundation. Joseph Coors provided $250,000 in start-up funds.

Later, when Weyrich left Heritage, Joseph Coors worked with him to create the Committee for the Survival of a Free Congress, a PAC supporting conservative candidates that later developed into the Free Congress Foundation (FCF). The Adolph Coors Foundation heavily funded the Heritage Foundation from its inception through the 1980s. The Castle Rock Foundation continues to provide substantial funding to the Heritage Foundation and the Free Congress Foundation

...free flow of cash to the establishment and maintenance of the Heritage Foundation, the Free Congress Foundation, the Council for National Policy

In fact, many argue that the establishment of the Castle Rock Foundation and its subsequent responsibility for the primary grantmaking to conservative organizations like Heritage and FCF, while the Coors Foundation (blatantly affiliated with the family) began funding less controversial projects, indicates a clear facade being created by the family.

Conservative academic institutes and educational organizations funded include the Legal organizations that receive funding include the Institute for Justice, the Federalist Society and the Center for Individual Rights.

The foundation also provides financial assistance to the Mountain States Legal Foundation, the Pacific Legal Foundation and the Landmark Legal Foundation, Independence Institute, the Political Economy Research Center, the Institute for American Values and Defenders of Property Rights.

45. Scaife/OSS
http://members.tripod.com/~american_almanac/scaife.htm

But this is nothing new for Scaife. What he is now doing to President Clinton, and what he did to Lyndon LaRouche, is what he was trained and deployed to do. Scaife is not simply a ``multimillionaire supporter of conservative groups,'' as he is portrayed in the news media; nor is he simply an eccentric rich man who has an obsession against President Clinton.

To understand what is being done to President Clinton today, and to understand what lies behind the campaigns of defamation run by the news media against figures such as Clinton or LaRouche, it is necessary to know who and what, someone like Richard Mellon Scaife actually is...

Dickie Scaife is what one might call a second-generation ``OSS brat.'' During World War II, Dickie's father, as well as a number of his father's close business and familial associates, occupied high positions in the Office of Strategic Services (OSS)--America's wartime intelligence service. Alan Scaife, his father, was a lieutenant colonel in the OSS. A number of cousins of Dickie's mother, Sarah Mellon Scaife, also had very high positions in the OSS.

It is reliably reported that these Anglophilic OSS circles around Scaife's father were the crucial influence on steering Dickie into intelligence-related ``philanthropy''--i.e., the private funding of joint British-U.S. intelligence projects which were commonly mis-identified as ``CIA'' projects or fronts.

It is more accurate to describe the CIA as a ``front'' for these Anglo-American banking families. But even that would be too simple. The CIA is an agency of government, and is thus subject to the institutional and bureaucratic pressures to which any agency of government must respond. The ``families'' attempt to control the CIA, as they do with the State Department and other agencies. The principal means of control is through the private financing of think-tanks, conferences, publications, etc., which attempt to train the personnel, and set the agenda, for the institutions of government. This is precisely what Dickie Scaife and his family money did when the Reagan-Bush administration came into office in 1981.

48. A "Secret Government"
From the same link:

Since Dickie Scaife was allowed to take over the Scaife family foundations and trusts in 1973, he has been a principal funder of that network of nominally ``conservative'' foreign policy think-tanks which operates as a training ground and as the agenda-setter for the foreign service and intelligence communities. During the Reagan-Bush administrations, this cluster of conservative think-tanks virtually became the government.

In reality there were two governments in the Reagan-Bush administration--the official, public government, and the ``secret government'' run by Vice President George Bush. The official government, particularly the National Security Council, the State Department, and the intelligence community, were riddled with Scaife's grantees and beneficiaries. But behind the official government lay what became known as the ``secret government''--and Scaife's network of think-tanks and foundations provided the intellectual rationalization which justified its creation, including the infamous Executive Order 12333. As far as is known, most of Scaife's hirelings didn't dirty their hands with actual drug-running or assassinations, but they did provide key funding and staff for the entire so-called ``Project Democracy'' apparatus, and also for the semi-official ``public diplomacy'' propaganda machine which ran cover for Bush's Contra drug-runners and Afghansi terrorists...

As the Iran-Contra scandals played out in televised Congressional hearings in 1987, many Americans began to get a glimpse of what some Congressmen called the ``parallel'' government, and others simply called the ``secret government.'' What most Americans didn't know, is the intellectual foundations were developed by Richard Mellon Scaife's hirelings.

So, during the Clinton years, you have a group of people who, having formed a secret and separate government during the eighties, suddenly find themselves out of power, or in the passenger seat, so to speak.

What is the relevance of the exposure of the B*sh II "secret government" post-9/11? Is it the same "secret government?"

51. Well I continue to believe our bogeyman is the CNP
They've got the money, control of the media and major corporations, Rehnquist, Scalia, and Thomas in their pockets, and we haven't even begin to look at their infiltration on the state level. When they also control the executive branch like right now, we see the result of all this power - a nation slipping into fascism.

Sometimes I wanna barf.

61. More on the CNP
http://www.seekgod.ca/cnp.htm

Many Evangelical, Pentecostal, Charismatic, Catholic, Mormon and other ecumenically-minded leaders are members of the Council for National Policy, the 500+ member organization which plans the strategy of the Religious Right in the United States.

The CNP, according to their 1996 Telephone Directory, was founded in 1981. While those involved are from the United States, their organizations and influence cover the globe, both religiously and politically. Members include corporate executives, television evangelists, legislators, former military or high ranking government officers, leaders of 'think tanks' dedicated to molding society and those who many view as Christian leadership. Members in many cases are owners or leaders from industry such as lumber, oil, mining, commodities, real estate, the media, including owners of radio, television and print, with all aspects of life covered. Many are involved in education, determining to influence society's direction by direct input with children and youth.

While this information includes members of the CNP, this is not to say that liberal political figures are excluded from the assessment of having "a heart of desperately wicked and deceitful above all things." No one is precluded. However, the CNP members are overtly "Christian" which is used as a cover to deceive the gullible. They have the "form of godliness" and are somewhat "ministers of righteousness", but deny the true power thereof by a carefully contrived doctrine which assiduously avoids the Scriptures which would expose their works that they are evil. Through their propaganda, they provoke visceral reactions from Christians to fight, become angry, to get involved in the political arena, to join and support their organizations through many monetary contributions which makes "merchandise of the saints."

The elites of the fascist right are using the CNP to tie disparate religious and right wing groups together around a common message/common goals which will result in the attainment of a fascistic one world government/New World Order. (Which is also the entire message, basically, of the Unification Church.) I always figured that this is what they're doing. But now I understand the HOW a little better.

70. CNP Action and some CNP projects of the 90's
I've been casting doubt on the idea that the CNP itself could be behind this stuff -- mainly because it's so large (over 500 members) and includes people from so many diverse right-wing groups. But I was Googling yesterday on "CNP Action" (a group run by Gary Aldrich of anti-Clinton smear fame) and found some stuff that suggests far more concerted action by a small group within the organization -- at least in the 1994-96 period. (My money is on CNP executive director Morton Blackwell as perhaps the chief honcho.) I didn't go beyond a page or two of links, so clearly there's a lot more to be found, but here's what I've got so far:

http://www.buildingequality.us/ifas/fw/9601/cnp.html

Council for National Policy instrumental in government shutdown

On September 19, 1995, the influential Council for National Policy (CNP) sent its members a confidential memo featuring a "for your eyes only" interview with Congressman Mark Souder (R-IN), who, according to the memo, is "one of the conservative stars in the new Congress." Souder, a conservative Christian who interprets the Bible literally, has said that his theological views will shape his public policy. He was one of the signers of the "Contract with America." The confidential report sheds light on the recent government shutdown and the battle over the federal budget.

"We'll let the government shut down," Souder told CNP's interviewer, Alex Mooney. "This is not a game over whether the government is going to shut down. This is our maximum point of leverage to insist that parts of the revolution are executed. Because if they are not attached to money bills, they will never get through."

<snip>

"What can the CNP members do to support you to ensure there is no compromise on the key social and economic issues?" the CNP interviewer asked Congressman Souder.

"The big thing that CNP members can do is to bolster up individual members and tell them to hold firm and do what you said you would do," Souder responded. "Tell them if you get heavy pressure, know that we are with you. CNP members can tell the members with whom they have influence, 'if you have to vote against a continuing resolution in order to get our points of the agenda, we understand. Hold firm. This is our big chance.

(This article also has a lot of good info on CNP in general.)

The Right's Secret Plans for Dole

With Bob Dole's <1996> Republican presidential candidacy sewn-up, the Council for National Policy, a right-wing conservative organization, moves to control Dole's positions in the upcoming election

http://victorian.fortunecity.com/brambles/499/CNP/PaulaJones/paulajones.html

Council for National Policy tied to Paula Jones

In 1994, the secretive Council for National Policy (CNP) launched an effort to expose "the evil which infests the Clinton administration" by exposing the President's alleged illegal and immoral activities.

CNP Action Inc, the Council for National Policy's political arm, sent copies of the video, "The Clinton Chronicles," to its members. The video allegedly documents Bill Clinton's sexual encounters with numerous women. An enclosed memorandum said: "Enclosed is a copy of the newly revised and updated 'Clinton Chronicles.' This videotape documents the many illegal and immoral activities of Bill Clinton as both Governor and President. After viewing this tape, pass it on to a friend, relative, business associate, public official, or member of the media. As many Americans as possible should become informed about the evil which infests the Clinton Administration. Bill Clinton must be held accountable for his actions."

The private September 12, 1994 memorandum, obtained by the Freedom Writer, also instructed CNP members to "contact Senators and Congressmen with whom you have influence."

68. More on Scaife's background
I don't complete trust either what you posted or the link I give below, because they seem to include a lot of traditional right-wing conspiracy theory (mostly funneled through Lyndon LaRouche), with sinister innuendos about the Rothschilds and the Federal Reserve. But there is certainly strange stuff in Richard Scaife's history:

http://www.umsl.edu/~skthoma/mah7.htm

"After the war, certain influential members of the Mellon family maintained close ties with the CIA. The Mellon family foundations have been used repeatedly as conduits for Agency funds. Furthermore, Richard Helms was a frequent weekend guest of the Mellon patriarchs in Pittsburgh during his tenure as CIA director (1966-1973).

<snip>

"Another member of the CIA-allied Mellon family was WILLIAM MELLON HITCHCOCK, Timothy Leary's "Godfather" and "the Daddy Warbucks of the Counterculture." In the early 60s, Billy Mellon-Hitchock almost singlehandedly bankrolled mass-production and distribution of LSD (which, hardly by coincidence, was at the time the subject of testing by the CIA's secret MK- ULTRA program) -- financing this effort through known CIA fronts like Castle Bank in the Bahamas , the Meyer Lansky syndicate's bank of choice for its money-laundering. Its special clientele also included Miami mob ally Bebe Rebozo, President Richard M. Nixon, Nixon campaign contributor and Golden Triangle heroin druglord Robert Vesco, the CIA's George Bush, and certain anti-Castro Cubans ..."

William Mellon Hitchcock's father also seems to have been closely connected with the Harriman/Gerry clan, and thus tied to the BFEE:

http://www.newsmakingnews.com/archives/archive8,6,00,8,13,00.htm

"In 1928 W. Averill Harriman had played polo with Major Louis A. Beard, Walter A. Goodwin, William Ziegler, Elbert T. Gerry III, Robert Gerry, R. Penn Smith, and Marshall Field at Saratoga. In 1932 other players included John Hay "Jock" Whitney, C.V. "Sonny" Whitney, Robert Gerry, Edward Gerry and Henry Gerry. It was at Saratoga also that the family of Billy Mellon Hitchcock played polo, including Billy's father, Tommy Hitchcock who was on Averill Harriman's team for a time."

I'm perusing their IRS forms and the donors on them. I'm also checking into the companies they have had working for them. So far what I've found which may lead back is Creative Response Concepts and Spaeth Communciations. Someone who used to work for CRC has been appointed, by B*sh, as the Spokewoman for the Dept. of Labor. I'll post everything when I'm done.

I'm pretty certain though that CRC will lead back to this somehow.

Good lord, they've donated a lot. I see they were the main donors ($20K) for the Zimmer Recount Fund (Recount committee for former Rep. Dick Zimmer, R-N.J.)

I wonder what's up with their contributions to "Committee for Honest Politics" (Republican Florida recount committee)

They donated $40K, and received $30K from the same organization?

American Seniors, Inc. aka American Taxpayers Alliance was Scott Reed's financial support system. It looks like American Seniors, Inc. might have been disbanded, but it was the same thing as "the Alliance" so it makes no difference really...(all scum to us LOL)

They ran ads against Gray Davis around 2000-2001, there was a court suit and supposedly they had to release their financials showing who their backers were. But the Court of Appeals ruled they didn't have to.

They also refuse to honor give.org's requests for financials.

I would love to find out where they get their money from.

91. What is Red Sea LLC?

Doing a search on Red Sea as a recipient in 'Search by Company or Group:' shows that they are a major recipient from e.g. 'Club for Growth'.

101. So Red Sea gets money from Club for Growth (Harlan Crow)
(best finds at the end of this post)

From an explanation about the IRS's new website, from:

http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:3vr2nn2rk1AJ:www.pewtrusts.com/news/news_subpage.cfm%3Fcontent_item_id%3D1873%26content_type_id%3D7%26page%3Dnr1++%22Red+Sea+LLC%22&hl=en

Another search will provide important insights into what 527 groups actually do with their receipts. For example, perusing one of the lengthy paper filings of the Club for Growth, which supports limited government and lower taxes, one finds it paid a total of $19,000 to Red Sea, LLC in Washington, DC during April 2003. In the near future, one will be able to search “Red Sea LLC” to see all of the Club for Growth’s expenditures on that vendor, what other 527s paid Red Sea, and what the purposes of these expenditures were.

Red Sea performs polling and media stuff:

121. According to Daily Kos . . .
Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 11:20 PM by starroute
Jonathan Baron may be a name to remember because he is one of the founders of Red Sea LLC, and media, polling, and consulting firm in Washington DC. He is the former Director of Communications for DeLay, and previously worked for Dan Quayle and Paul Coverdell.

http://www.dailykos.com/comments/2004/10/23/142644/28/37#37

They also do tasteless commercials:

Not since March has the Bush campaign managed to anger Americans with inappropriate advertising tactics.

The advertisements, produced by Red Sea, LLC., were released by a conservative group called the Club for Growth Wednesday, despite being considered in poor taste.

They feature a comparison between the late President Ronald Reagan and President George Bush, displaying old footage of Reagan's infamous line "Mr. Gorbachev tear down this wall", and scenes of Bush overlooking the devastation at ground-zero after the 9/11 attacks.

The advertisements give the impression that Reagan, who suffered from Alzheimer's prior to his recent death, endorsed Bush for re-election.

"It's pretty sad that less than a week after America said farewell to President Reagan, George W. Bush's supporters are politicising it," Kerry campaign spokesman Chad Clanton said.

122. Ad for Grover Norquist's "Americans for Tax Reform"
It seems like "always in poor taste" might be Red Sea's slogan.

http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/news/breaking_news/8714672.htm?1c

Gov. Mark Sanford said an ad critical of the House's top budget writer prompted him to call the taxpayer group's leader <Grover Norquist> and his own political consultant <Jon Lerner>.

The ads "were in poor taste," Sanford said Thursday, a day after the ads begin airing.

<snip>

Americans for Tax Reform used Red Sea, a political consultant firm run by Jon Lerner, in the ads. Sanford also uses the company.

"One of the first guys I called yesterday afternoon was Jon Lerner, saying 'What is the story with this,' " Sanford said. "His point was 'I ain't working for you. I'm working for Americans for Tax Reform. ... I work for a lot of different people.' "

123. And here's another time Red Sea put their foot in it
http://www.hillnews.com/campaign/093003_toomey.aspx

September 30, 2003

A conservative pro-voucher group has launched a radio campaign in Pennsylvania promoting school reform that threatens to break a tenuous media cease-fire between Sen. Arlen Specter and Rep. Pat Toomey. Specter and Toomey, opponents in April’s Republican Senate primary, have agreed not to run ads before the Nov. 4 state elections this year.

<snip>

The group behind the ads, the Legislative Education Action Drive (LEAD), is not officially connected to the Toomey campaign, but he and the group promote the same pro-voucher, pro-school-choice message. ... Specter campaign spokesman Bill Reynolds said the connection between LEAD and the Toomey campaign is closer than Sterns suggested. Reynolds said there is a link between the consulting groups working for LEAD and the Toomey campaign.

<snip>

The group behind LEAD’s ads is Capitol Consulting Inc. Red Sea Media handles the Toomey campaign. The media buyer at Red Sea Media who runs the Toomey account also works at another consulting group, Jamestown Associates, Matt Wahl, a Jamestown Associates employee, said. Jamestown Associates, based in Princeton, N.J., calls Capitol Consulting, which is headquartered in Baton Rouge, La., a “partner firm” on its website.

But there is no apparent, direct connection between Capitol Consulting and Red Sea Media. No one from Capitol Consulting, nor Jon Lerner, president of Red Sea Media, returned phone calls.

15. 2 more scam letters today! Two new scammers to investigate.
Just got back from my mom's. She's 83, still mentally sharp, but I shop for her each weekend and sometimes we go out to eat.

She had two more scam letters - one from the Seniors Coalition, and one from the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare. Both 4 page things, both dressed up a little differently, but I smell Response Dynamics. Gonna start researching them in a few minutes.

Perhaps we'll also have some new names :)

73. Was it scary?
Did it mention a Presidential candidate? Because that's the problem, you've got to have a law broken. There's money connections between John Birch Society, Heritage Foundation & AEI too. Knowing that a handful of people are connected to fill the airwaves with propaganda is not the same thing as the Bush's knowingly participating in illegal activities. Look at the two letters closely and see if there's distinct differences in the approach.

There is also a new group, the American College of Pediatricians, which was put together in 2002 specifically to fight abortion and gay marriage. It's name is intentionally to confuse people who are accustomed to the respected American Academy of Pediatricians or the American College of Pediatrics. I don't know who is behind it, but I bet it's a name on your list. Is it illegal?? Not unless they start engaging in illegal activities.

We need to get the crimes committed by these groups and start connecting those dots. Show a pattern. Otherwise, you've got a terrific book or NYT 10 page article, but not quite yet a crime ring, so to speak. (Although we know they are)

We know they are, but no we don't have proof that would convict Bush himself. We do have proof of immoral, unethical behavior by a great many scumbags, and it would be one heck of a NY Times article, as you say...so let's keep chipping away and see what we can find.

36. I'm not sure it's a conspiracy
That would imply attempts at secrecy and a guiding force.

However, here we have groups and individuals (essentially) operating in the wide open, nor does their seem to be a single actor orchestrating the whole thing.

I think perhaps what we are seeing instead is some form of complex chaotic behavior. We have many different groups and individuals with seemingly disparate goals acting together to bring each closer to their own goals, yet the ultimate goal towards which the system is evolving is global fascism.

For instance, if you consider the three primary groups that seem to be involved -- the BFEE, the neo-con PNAC crowd and the religious fundies -- I don't think any one of them desires global fascism. The BFEE's goal primarily seems to be making money and perpetuating their class. The PNAC crowd seems genuinely concerned with preserving American empiricism; I think they truly believe that's the best way to preserve the peace and advance progress. The religious fundies seem to be sincere about their concern for the decay of moral values; they see society as being threatened.

Yet, they all play together and overlap to some degree. Some of the individual actors are corrupt and are in it solely to advance their own agendas and thus function as parasites (Gary Jarmin strikes me this way), but overall each group pretty much tends to stay true to their cause.

Moon and his true believers are the only thing that gives me pause though. Moon's origins are shrouded in secrecy; he is perhaps the creation of our own CIA. I wonder if Moon himself truly believes himself to be "the true parent" or if it's all a game. I'm not even sure if there are any true Moonies left -- those who truly believe in Moon's cult. At best, I'd say that Moon acts as a strange attractor introducing chaotic behavior into the system and at worst I'd say that Moon acts as a point attractor driving the system to global fascism.

The one thing we do know about all these groups is that they take full advantage of modern media, of which I include the internet and world wide web. In fact, with the advent of ubiquitous web access we've seen greatly accelerated growth in these groups schemes. It is also what will bring them down.

93. Or else it is a conspiracy...
I am not a conspiracy lunatic-type person by any stretch...

I know we went to the moon, there is no face on Mars, etc.

But my gut tells me that the CNP IS our monster. I believe the the CNP has nearly succeeded in turning this nation into a fascist state. I believe we are running out of time to change this, and I believe this election is the most important election in our lifetimes.

What is fascism? It is a system where there are two classes - "citizens" and others. Corporations work for the good of the government. Can anyone look at CNN these days and not wonder what the hell has happened to it? NBC? ABC? Only CBS seems to have not yet gone to the dark side.

There are more reports of voting problems already than in all the elections previous to this one, I bet.

I have already posted strong evidence of direct ties between the CNP and voting machine companies.

There is no way this is a bunch of bad guys achieving their own ends, helping each other out to achieve them. They have a common goal - fascism.

That is my belief.

140. I see you found the smilies lookup table
Novak having ties to CNP illustrates:

1) Why he outed Plame and
2) Why he won't reveal his source to the Plame GJ.

Out of pure curiosity I googled for Larry Silverstein(he signed a 99 year lease for the WTC 3 months before 9/11) and CNP. I couldn't find anything interesting.

I think the best analogy for the CNP is that it's a political/crime family. Unfortunately, sometimes people fall for wolves in sheepsclothing. I think people who vote for Gee Dubya because of wedge issues are being used. If Bush or another RW prez were to actually ban abortion or pass a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, then those voters most influenced by that specific wedge issue might cast their vote based issues that favor the Democratic party.

When I wrote this last night, I copied and pasted links 1-39 from our previous thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1108892

For some reason, some of them didn't copy and paste very well. LOL

72. Links that get shortened in the visible text don't copy and paste in full
Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 01:33 PM by starroute
For example, your post has a link to the previous thread that
reads as
"http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph..."

If you just copy and paste the whole post, you get only what
is visible as text, and that's not a valid link. It's a pain,
but you have to go through and do a separate "copy link
location" on all the links that end in "..."
(The shorter ones that aren't truncated paste fine as is.)

If you do it that way, you get the full link, which is

It's not meant to cut off discussion on this thread, but to supplement it. What I've done is a summary of what was learned in the investigation that began with Gary Jarmin, together with material from the "Stolen Honor" and CBS memo investigations of the last month. Amazingly, it all ties together -- and I've posted a chart of all the connections, together with guides to the major players. Please have a look.

Conservative and Evangelical Mailing Lists from Response Unlimited
http://www.responseunlimited.com/clients.html

The page this link goes to is a list of organizations that have used their services -- mostly all the usual suspects, plus a few oddballs, like Encyclopedia Brittanica, National Geographic, and the Special Olympics.

The Seniors Coalition is there, and the Rutherford Institute, and the Liberty Alliance. So is the College Republican National Committee.

The list itself doesn't tell us much, but the firm is probably worth finding out more about. At any rate, I'm going to have a look.

On edit: I looked around a little, and its director, Philip Zodhiates, seems to be an extreme evangelical Christian, who is fanatically anti-Moslem and not too fond of Hindus either. But I don't see any connection to the sort of Republican dirty tricks we've been finding with the other direct-mail firms.

is listed as one of their clients. I'm pretty sure they're the fundie cult that completely destroyed my second-year college room-mate. I watched as over a series of weeks these wackos fucked with his head and he turned from a fun, normal, outgoing 18/19 year old kid into some kind of zombie cultist who pissed everone on our floor off by constantly proselytizing and expressing ingenous horror that we were all going to burn in hell. One night I came home and his girl friend was sitting on the stairs outside our room (ours was at the end of a hallway) crying uncontrollaby. He'd been convince to dump her by his fellow zombies because she had endangered his mortal soul by having sex with him and that she was probably an agent of the devil. I think it wasn't more than a couple of weeks later he dropped out of school.

Have I said how terribly much I hate these people?

119. Campus Crusade for Christ -- lots of CNP connections
Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 10:45 PM by starroute
Founded in 1951 by Dr. William R. Bright, who died just last year. A former salesman who applied his sales techniques to religion. Billy Graham was one of the original board members. Nelson Bunker Hunt provided start-up funding. Joseph Coors has also been a contributor and Richard Viguerie has had the Campus Crusade as clients. (All of these but Graham are or were CNP.)

Nelson Bunker Hunt is a story in himself, and one we're going to have to deal with at some point -- massive oil wealth, funder of many right-wing causes, racist connections, John Birch Society, CNP. Associated by rumor with the Kennedy assassination.

One of the things I see as an eventual goal of this research is to link the respectable post-1980 right (including the CNP) back to the semi-respectable right of the 1960's and 1970's (including the Birch Society and Young Americans for Freedom), then that back to the McCarthyite right of the late 40's and 50's, and that to the fascist right of the 1930's.

It can be done. The links have been deliberately obscured, but they can't be hidden completely. And one of the keys is to focus on the people involved, rather than on the organizations.

105. PMA Group - item of interest for later research
http://www.publicintegrity.org/pns/report.aspx?aid=388

WASHINGTON, September 29, 2004 — With scores of revolving door connections, more than $1 million in campaign contributions and clients that receive most of their contracts from the Pentagon without competition, only one defense lobbying firm can claim to give its clients "an inside track to business opportunities with the federal government."

The PMA Group, a lobbying firm that specializes in defense contracting, has reported receiving $21.7 million in lobbying fees since 1998 from large defense companies—the most paid to any defense lobbying firm, according to a study by the Center for Public Integrity.

109. Hey, John ...
a little more dumpster-diving on Google brought up this link:

http://newsletters.cephasministry.com/ncp8.html

I searched on 'CNP' and 'Scientology' -- there was a link on Co$ over in the Lounge, and I posted something to the effect that they own large chunks of Clearwater, Florida downtown real estate, and I wondered if there weren't connections to the GOP or Jebbie somehow. Looks like the CNP has deliberately affiliated itself with these groups.

I don't know what kind of legitimacy Cephas Ministry has, but they're Christians who aren't happy about the affiliations of the religious right with the GOP, Unification Church and other organizations they consider to be 'shady' or unChristian. I'd say they had no dog in this race -- most evangelical Christians are conservative voters -- and if they've found some stuff linking the CNP with such organizations, it wasn't something they wanted to find out, and they wouldn't tout the connections except with a certain resignation.

If it looks like an interesting avenue, I could continue to 'poke around' on Cehpas' research site.

but in the meantime, I thought I'd throw this in the mix, too, if nobody else has seen it yet:

http://www.alecwatch.org/

This group is tracking the connections between corporation and government (and unhappy about it). The reason the link appeared on the newsgroup was that the Co$ apparently has underwritten/provided funding for ALEC (a group that, essentially, appears to hand out access to government officials from corporations and other special interests).

This site may be a good ally in your investigations, or in publishing the information -- they appear to have some legitimacy, and the site appears to have been around a while.

The link came up on an 'alt.religion.scientology' thread about similar stuff. I'm fairly familiar with Arnie Lerma and Xenu (www.xenu.org), another place where any relevant research or information from the 'a.r.s' newsgroup is often archived. Xenu is an anti-Co$ site, I don't think it's run by Lerma, but (I believe) by another former Scientologist who lives in Europe.

Think I'll continue checking links on a.r.s for now. Will add to the thread if I find anything of any apparent interest.

The American vote-count is controlled by three major corporate players--Diebold, ES&S, and Sequoia--with a fourth, Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), coming on strong. These companies--all of them hardwired into the Bushist Party power grid--have been given billions of dollars by the Bush Regime to complete a sweeping computerization of voting machines nation-wide by the 2004 election.

120. That gets you into the whole military-industrial complex thing
The voting machine companies, the homeland security companies, the military contractors (like the guys in Iraq), and the defense industry are all basically the same people. They connect up with the general right-wing in a few areas (like support for missile defense), but there isn't a lot of overlap.

So we can touch on the BBV stuff where it involves people like Howard Ahmanson, but most of it is a whole other kettle of fish. And if we have any hopes of keeping our sanity, we should probably stick to one problem at a time.

(I hope, by the way, that nobody thinks this is merely about the election. It isn't. It's really about what happens after the election, when we start the real work of taking back our country. Compared to that, what's happening now is going to look easy.)

131. John Fluharty -- another of Charlie Gerow's mysterious donors
Edited on Mon Oct-25-04 12:43 PM by starroute
Besides Lehrman, Abramoff, Robinson, and Donatelli, there are a couple of other out-of-state donors on Charlie Gerow's 2000 contributors list I've been meaning to Google. One of them is John Fluharty -- and when I put his name in, what immediately came up was a Village Voice story about Roger Stone and Indian casino gambling.

That's a very interesting context. Roger Stone is the long-time Republican dirty trickster who was rumored to be the source of the CBS memos. (There were several threads last month on him and his bizarre sex life.) And Jack Abramoff is also deeply involved in Indian casinos.

The story is pretty confusing, but it seems that Stone has been using the Bureau of Indian Affairs to hand out gambling concessions to Republican loyalists, that he brought his friend Scott Reed in to help, and that Reed's partner John Fluharty has also been involved. The most relevant paragraphs are quoted below.

http://www.villagevoice.com/issues/0416/barrett.php

Roger Stone, the dirty-tricks hobgoblin of Republican politics, has exploited his Bush connections to become an influence-peddling force in the $13 billion Indian gaming industry. ... The longtime GOP consultant's reward for fomenting the "Brooks Brothers mob" that shut down the Miami-Dade recount in 2000 was an invitation within days of Bush's election to serve on the Department of Interior transition working group—helping, in his own words, to staff its Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). Stone has since used this unannounced perch to market himself to tribes and developers from Louisiana to California, earning fat fees and contingent percentages of future casino revenue.

<snip>

Hiding himself from the burden of public disclosure, Stone has brought an old lobbyist friend, Scott Reed, who already represented Connecticut tribes, into the incestuous world of California gaming. ... Stone and Reed pushed other top Bush gaming appointments. "If you are lucky," says Stone, suggesting he was, "a transition team will sift through a thousand résumés for mid- to low-level positions." Stone acknowledges a role in eventually installing Chuck Choney on the three-member National Indian Gaming Commission, while Reed and partner John Fluharty urged the hiring of Aurene Martin, who got the No. 3 job at BIA.

<snip>

BIA's Smith claims that McCaleb told him when he started in September 2001 that Reed was "very important to the White House." McCaleb gave Smith a short list of insiders and lobbyists, including Reed, that he said Smith should "talk to and make sure they don't get upset with you." Smith wound up doing a half-dozen lunches with Reed, who pressed him on behalf of Buena Vista. Smith said his top aide, Aurene Martin, "always dealt with Reed's partner, Fluharty" and "urged me to be helpful to him." So did Jennifer Farley, who oversaw BIA matters in the White House and knew Reed and Fluharty from the Dole campaign, where she worked as a press aide. Smith says Farley and Martin openly championed the same position as Reed on Buena Vista. Martin even met at BIA with Fluharty, Pratt, and the Buena Vista tribal leader, Donna Marie Potts, to hear their case, a morning meeting that followed a strategy session the night before in Stone's Washington office.

132. More on the Indian casino connections
Edited on Mon Oct-25-04 12:54 PM by starroute
John Fluharty and Scott Reed's company is Chesapeake Enterprises. I found it mentioned in a story from last March about Jack Abramoff's problems:

http://www.law.com/jsp/article.jsp?id=1078368959883

In the wake of top lobbyist Jack Abramoff's abrupt departure from Greenberg Traurig last week, some advocates for Native American tribes are wondering whether the controversy could damage their image and that of the tribes they represent.

Fallout is already being seen on the business side. One major Abramoff-Greenberg Traurig client, the Michigan-based Saginaw Chippewa tribe, has moved its work to D.C.-based lobbying firm Chesapeake Enterprises and Ietan Consulting, a lobby shop linked with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.

<snip>

On March 2, Greenberg Traurig announced that Abramoff had resigned, following articles in The Washington Post that described Abramoff's huge fees and complex financial dealings with Indian clients. The Post linked Abramoff to Michael Scanlon, a public relations expert and former Greenberg Traurig employee who had allegedly received tens of millions of dollars from the tribes.

<snip>

Ietan Consulting specializes in federal Indian law and lobbying. In the first half of 2003, 11 tribes paid approximately $520,000 to the firm, according to Senate filings. Chesapeake Enterprises registered to lobby for five new Indian tribe clients in 2003. Ietan Consulting and Chesapeake Enterprises did not respond to requests for comment. Ietan works closely with Akin Gump -- perhaps the second-biggest player in Indian tribal lobbying behind Greenberg Traurig.

Akin, Gump seems to come up a lot. I know one of the people I was Googling on last night was connected with them -- I'll try to find the link.

On edit: It was Frank Donatelli. He used to be a partner there.

133. Chesapeake Enterprises and the Republican Leadership Coalition
The Republican Leadership Coalition has paid at least $175,000 to Chespeake Enterprises

http://www.publicintegrity.org/527/search.aspx?act=com&orgid=480

The Council for Better Government (CBG) has been running controversial campaign ads in a dozen states and is funded almost exclusively by the Republican Leadership Coalition (RLC), not be confused with the moderate Republican Leadership Council. The CBG raised $556,354 in the last two weeks of September, with all but $5,000 coming from the RLC. In the third quarter of 2002, Woodland Group Indiana gave the RLC $625,000. The RLC’s other major funder is J. Patrick Rooney ($82,500) CEO of Golden Rule Insurance. Golden Rule and Woodland Group are located at the same address: 7740 Woodland Drive, Indianapolis, Ind. Scott Reed, Bob Dole’s presidential campaign manager, created the RLC, which is based out of Reed’s Chesapeake Enterprises consulting firm.

The group began running radio and television advertisements in a dozen states in October 2002, targeting African American and Hispanic stations in an attempt to woo minorities to the Republican Party. John Altevogt, a former associate vice-chairman of the Kansas Republican Party, is listed as the group’s president. Altevogt has said the group will spend $1.5 million in Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina and North Dakota. The ads, which have focused on issues such as privatizing Social Security, education and taxes, have drawn criticism for race baiting. In one ad, the ad’s narrator complains, "Every year, some white Democratic politician says he’s going to make black schools work … he’s going to Washington to set high standards; he’s going to Washington to teach our kids to read…and year by year the test score gap between the black and white students remains."

134. More on Scott Reed
http://www.workingforchange.com/article.cfm?ItemID=11880

September 7, 2001

If you live in or have been to California during the past few months, you may have seen or heard Governor Gray Davis blasted for his handling of California's energy crisis. "Grayouts from Gray Davis," is the tag line of one of the television ads being run by the American Taxpayers Alliance. ... The American Taxpayers Alliance (ATA) is one of three so-called citizens groups currently going after Davis. What is the ATA and why is it saying such nasty things about Gov. Davis?

Scott Reed is a Republican campaign consultant and former campaign manager for Bob Dole's 1996 presidential campaign who runs ATA. He told The New York Times that his organization "is on a political mission; to shield vulnerable Congressional Republicans from any blame for how Washington responds to California's energy crisis and to put the focus on Mr. Davis." Thus far, they have spent more than $2 million making life miserable for the governor.

<snip>

Scott Reed is not your run of the mill political operative. Like his surnamesake Ralph Reed, Scott began his career with Pat Robertson's Christian Coalition. In addition to his service to Dole, a 1996 USA Today profile noted that Reed was deputy regional political director for Ronald Reagan's presidential campaign in 1984; the next year, he became the youngest regional political director for Republican National Committee (RNC); he then helped run Jack Kemp's Republican presidential campaign in 1988; and from 1989-92, he served as chief of staff to HUD Secretary Jack Kemp. In 1993, Reed was chief of staff for the RNC.

The Secret Money Chase
By Michael Isikoff
Newsweek, June 5, 2000

During last winter's contentious Republican-presidential-primary battle, another group, calling itself Republicans for Clean Air, ran $2.5 million in TV ads attacking John McCain's environmental record. The group, it was later reported, was created by two Dallas financiers, Sam and Charles Wyly -two major George W. Bush fund-raisers. Another "527," the Republican Leadership Coalition, was set up by veteran GOP operative Scott Reed to steer Hispanic voters to the party by emphasizing health care. Reed confirmed to NEWSWEEK that the group has been largely bankrolled by former Golden Rule Insurance Co. chief Patrick Rooney, who has promoted health-care savings accounts, a favorite GOP issue. And last week a group called the Coalition to Protect Americans Now, funded primarily by millionaire heiress Helen Krieble, began running ads blasting Clinton and Gore for failing to build a national missile-defense system. The spots came a few days before Bush's announcement that he would vigorously promote missile defense. A coalition official insisted the timing was coincidental.

I don't know why Isikoff combined these three groups in one paragraph -- but it's a fascinating line-up. The Republicans for Clean Air campaign was mentioned frequently last summer as involving many of the same people as were involved with the Swiftboat liars. Helen Krieble (could she be the daughter of CNP member Robert Krieble who died in 1997?) has also been a stealth Bush activist. And sandwiched between them is Scott Reed's group.

http://www.tylwythteg.com/enemies/Bush/bush17.html

At crucial moments in the presidential campaign, George W. Bush has also benefited from millions of dollars in advertising paid for by mysterious groups and secret donors.

It's a new form of political warfare that's quickly becoming the tool of choice for people looking to influence Election 2000, made possible by a once-obscure provision in the tax code that lets anyone form a group and spend money on campaign-style ads without saying who's paying for them.

<snip>

"There is no connection between us and the Bush campaign -- none, zero, nada," said Diana Banister, a spokeswoman for the Coalition to Protect Americans Now, which is funded by a wealthy conservative activist, Helen Krieble.

Banister said it was a coincidence that a day before Bush gave a major speech promoting a missile defense system her group began running $200,000 worth of ads with the same message and criticizing Gore for not supporting the program.

Friends, I've been taking the night off from all this - needed the rest. But my thoughts keep coming back to Jarmin and Response Dynamics...not sure why. Where does Jarmin spend his money? Where does Response Dynamics spend theirs? Tomorrow I will be working thse two questions first.

139. starroute, are you thinking what I am thinking?
(damn I wish I could take this week off from work and do this fulltime - but mornings, lunchtime and after work will have to do - starroute, you're incredible!)

Right now, I am thinking...can we find a link between Response Dynamics and/or Regency Communications, Inc. (Houston) to the people mentioned in you latest expose'.

Or can we find a link between the scams they run, and our newest bad guys.

Starroute, perhaps a time out is in order - I am also thinking right now that it would be nice if you could update your roadmap from hell with all the names we have uncovered since Saturday morning...that way newcomers to our threads can see the total picture (even though it is incomplete) - besides it will help keep track of names. If there is a way I can help update, just let me know. I will be back from work around 5:30 PST.

You are the best...and I am proud to be working at your side on all this.

John

141. More on Fluharty -- what is it about Republicans' sex lives?
This story goes back to last July, between when Jack Ryan dropped out of the Illinois Senate race over the sex club scandal and when Alan Keyes got dragged in. One of the names briefly being floated was that of Andrea Grubb Barthwell:

The deputy director of President Bush's drug-control office resigned Friday to explore a run for the Senate in place of Jack Ryan, the Republican nominee who dropped out over sex-club allegations, The Associated Press has learned.

Dr. Andrea Grubb Barthwell, a physician from Chicago, had been deputy director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy in Washington since 2002, focusing on reducing demand for drugs.

The drug-control office announced her resignation in a statement. Supporters Michael Barnes, a Virginia lawyer, and John Fluharty, a Washington lobbyist and adviser to Barthwell, said she was leaving to explore a run for the Senate from Illinois.

http://www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com/archives/002102.html

But within a couple of days, Barthwell was in trouble as well:

A potential Republican candidate for the Senate seat from Illinois – where the party's nominee withdrew over sex club allegations – engaged in "lewd and abusive behavior" while she served as a top official in the White House drug policy office, an internal inquiry found last year.

In front of her staff, Andrea Grubb Barthwell made repeated comments about the sexual orientation of a staff member and used a kaleidoscope to make sexually offensive gestures, according to the findings of a March 19, 2003, "hostile workplace memorandum" prepared by drug policy office staff.

<snip>

"Dr. Barthwell suggested that the staff member would want to cut the cake available for the gathering because the knife was 'long and hard' and he might 'enjoy handling it.' When the cake was cut, Dr. Barthwell referred to the pieces as 'moist' or 'beefy' and she said to the staff member, 'I know you like it big and meaty.' "

<snip>

John Fluharty, a gay Republican serving as an adviser to Barthwell, rejected any suggestion that she is insensitive. "She is a decent, honorable woman who would be an asset in the United States Senate," he said.

I really don't know *what* to make of this -- especially not in connection with Fluharty's connection with Roger Stone, who is a fan of orgies and threesomes, and Stone's childhood friendship with Terry Dolan, the Republican dirty trickster who died of AIDS in 1986. Is there some little pocket of, um, flamboyant Republican behavior hemmed in by the walls of Moral Majority-ness? And what, if anything, does it has to do with Indian gambling casinos?

Inquiring minds would probably just as soon not know -- but fool that I am, I thought I'd raise the question anyway.

137. Eliot Spitzer for Atty. General!!!!!
If Kerry DOES manage to win this election, in spite of the fascist take-over of the voting machine companies, I hope like hell he picks Eliot Spitzer for Atty. General....and then turns him loose on all of these crooks.

Keep digging, researchers! You're doing a great job, and eventually we're going to find a criminal conspiracy in there!!

Perry) whose primary concern is tort reform.

168. Emails from Bush Campaigners to wrong address
Intended for GWbush.com, hit gwbush.org instead.

http://www.georgewbush.org/deadletteroffice/

There's lots of info in there. Dunno if there's anything juicy. A PDF from Newt outlining whats important in this election. An XLS marked "Church list". Rove is mentioned tangentially.

I saved all the documents except the photos and the first two, which were offline when I clicked them. If it goes offline anytime soon I have that much backed up.

All researchers should flip through this to see if any names, events, etc. pop out at you.

Subject: Pineworks- Auburn

Hello All,

Rod Wilson, owner of Pineworks (a furniture maker) in Auburn
called us this week. His daughter (who works for him) also contacted
SMC via e-mail.

They advertise with the Sinclair group and are very upset/worried about the boycott being organized against them. They won't pull their ads because they say the time slot they're in
during the Oprah show) is very successful and they would lose thousands of dollars by pulling out.

They have received numerous phone calls threatening the business
but nothing actionable from what I understand.

I am at a loss as to what I can do for them. Obviously,
consumers are free to organize boycotts and I'm sure SMC wants to stay out of this. However, I feel for the company, which is a small family owned business that uses all Maine products in their production.

Any thoughts on what I could do for them?

Thanks,
Sarah

175. You can relax now. It's a satire site.
It's from the same folks who gave us Betty Bowers and the Landover Baptist Church.

Surf some of the links. It's all tongue-in-cheek. Painful-but-true stuff about the Bush Putsch.

Mind you, not that reality has occasionally surpassed satire in these past four years ...

E-MAIL FROM THE GEORGEWBUSH.ORG "CATCH-ALL" MAILBOX

OCTOBER, 2004: Recently, we at GeorgeWBush.org happened to notice that our mail server had a default "catch-all" mailbox, which for the past several months had been quietly gathering any and all e-mails addressed to @georgewbush.org. We felt the need to share.

Normally they would have written it as if it were actually part of a B/C website. If this is tongue in cheek, they've poked all the way through. Why would they include something like this?

Subject: Younger

Sean,

The best case I've found so far is New Orleans Pub. Serv., Inc. v. Council of New Orleans, 491 U.S. 350, 359 (1989). In this case, the Court found that Younger abstention did not apply to a state court's review of city council's decision. The Court reasoned that Younger principles did not weigh as heavily in cases that do not implicate the state courts' ability to perform their judicial functions ("t has never been suggested that Younger requires abstention in deference to a state judicial proceeding reviewing legislative or executive action. Such a broad abstention requirement would make a mockery of the rule that only exceptional circumstances justify a federal court's refusal to decide a case in deference to the States."). Depending on the posture of our case, this could be a slam-dunk argument: for instance, in the event that the state court was reviewing a decision by the Secretary of State to leave Nader off the ballot. I do not know if this is in fact the posture of the case, but from your brief description I suspect that it was not.

Nonetheless, New Orleans does have some favorable language that could be used to argue that abstention is the "exception, not the rule," and that the Younger should therefore not apply in this instance:

here are some classes of cases in which the withholding of authorized equitable relief because of undue interference with state proceedings is "the normal thing to do," Younger v. Harris, 401 U.S., at 45. We have carefully defined, however, the areas in which such "abstention" is permissible, and it remains "'the exception, not the rule.'" Hawaii Housing Authority v. Midkiff, 467 U.S. 229, 236 (1984), quoting Colorado River Water Conservation Dist. v. United States, 424 U.S. 800, 813 (1976). As recently as last Term we described the federal courts' obligation to adjudicate claims within their jurisdiction as "'virtually unflagging.'" Deakins v. Monaghan, 484 U.S. 193, 203 (1988) (citation omitted).

I just spoke with Katie Wheelbarger, and I explained to her that there are two ways to attack Younger. First, we could argue that the constitutional interests outweigh the state interests. I think this is our strongest argument and I am looking for any cases that have so held. I've already looked at Supreme Court and 10th Circuit cases on this point and haven't found anything helpful, but I am going to broaden my search and try again. Second, we could argue that the state court does not provide us an adequate opportunity to raise the constitutional challenge because of the time sensitivity involved. It will be difficult to prevail on this argument if we did not bother to raise these issues in the state court. There are several cases which suggest that the plaintiff's failure to raise a claim in the state court prevents it from later claiming that it has not had an adequate opportunity to challenge the constitutionality of the statute. This seems to me to make sense. Therefore, I will continue to focus on the first argument unless I hear otherwise from you. Even if we do not find a case on point, we can still make the argument on the basis of Younger and Pennzoil themselves that abstention should not be applied because the constitutional interest at stake vastly outweighs any state interest in this case.

If you have any questions or wish me to pursue a new direction, you can reach me at 202-544-6338. If I do not answer at that number please try 202-641-7532.

This endorsement is based on the following:

1. The War on Terrorism: We support the Campaign against al Qaida and the other Jihadist Terrorist groups, including Hizbollah, and consider this war as a historic confrontation with an evil ideology which must be uprooted and denounced worldwide. The War on Terrorism is not only about arresting and killing Terrorists, but is also about creating changes in the region producing this ideology of mass death. We support the Bush doctrine which considers any regime which protects the Terrorists and support them as a Terror regime which should be removed.

2. The War in Iraq: We thank the US Congress for authorizing this campaign, and we thank President Bush for taking the risk of conflict so that more than 24 million Iraqis are now freed from one of the most genocidal dictators in modern History. The removal of Saddam Hussein is a central part of the War against Terrorism. We denounce those who opposed the liberation of Iraq as indirect associates of the mass murderer. We support the democratic process in Iraq and feel that the re-election of President Bush would bring hope to the Iraqi democratic forces and ensure international support to the emergence of Iraqi democracy

3. Democracy and Human Rights: We thank President Bush for declaring a campaign to spread Democracy and freedom in the Broader Middle East. We as Americans from Middle Eastern and North African descent reject the notion that our mother societies do not deserve democracy. We praise the President's agenda of supporting Human Rights, especially the rights of Women, youth and minorities in the Middle East. We feel that with President Bush's policies and principles we will be able to assist our mother civil societies in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Algeria and elsewhere to move towards Democracy.

4. Syria's occupation of Lebanon: We thank the President for signing the Syria Accountability Act of 2003 and for instructing our US delegation for introducing, and passing the UNSCR 1559 calling for the end of Syrian occupation of Lebanon. Lebanese-Americans are particularly appreciative of these initiatives and resents the previous policies of allowing Syria to crush the Lebanese people.

5. Syria's reforms: We thank the President for pressing Syria to end its alliance with Terrorism, including with Hezbollah, the foreign Fighters in Iraq and Hamas and Islamic Jihad. And also for pressuring the Baathist regime in Syria to conduct democratic reforms.

6. Sudan and Mauritania: We thank the President and his Secretary of State Colin Powell for declaring the crisis in Darfur as a Genocide and for extending help to the people of Southern Sudan, who must enjoy their rights as Black Africans. We thank the President who repetitively called for an end to Slavery in Sudan and Mauritania. The North African Americans, urge their brothers and sisters of the African American community to vote for President Bush as a way to free more slaves in Africa and defend our common African heritage from oppression.

7. Minorities: We thank the President for insisting on the rights of minorities, particularly the endangered ones such as the ChaldoAssyrians in Iraq and Syria and the Copts in Egypt. We believe that under a Bush second term, more autonomy would be extended to these minorities so that they would survive the threat of Terror and discrimination.

8. Libya: We thank and congratulate the President for succeeding in the process of disarming the Libyan regime of Muaamar Qadhafi and feel that a second term of the Bush Presidency will press the Libyan regime to reform, and release the political prisoners.

9. Afghanistan: We praise the President for his leadership in removing the Taliban and helping in establishing a democratic Government in Afghanistan

10. Israel-Palestine Conflict: We value President's Bush call for a two states solution with a secure Israel and a Democratic Palestinian state living side by side.

10. Homeland Security: We thank the President for introducing and Congress for passing the Patriot Act. We stand by the President in his policies of developing counter Terrorism and furthering diversity, and tolerance. We praise President Bush for his stand during and since the barbaric attacks of September 11. We feel he expressed not only the sentiments of the majority of Americans but also the majority of Middle East Americans. †

Based on these 10 principles of policy, we hereby call on more than 5 million Americans from Middle East and North African descent to vote for George W Bush as President of the United States for four more years

184. I take offense to what you just said
Just because someone is fairly new at DU, doesn't mean they are a "new person."

The CNP is well known to anyone who spent time investigating. The problem in the past has always been determining whether the CNP is merely a club where neo-cons and religious freaks get together, or a well-coordinated effort to take over the country. Although we have differences of opinion here as well, everyone agrees that the CNP is nothing less than "the water that all these fish swim in," to sort-of-quote starroute.

Since you've been down this road before yourself, perhaps you can contribute to our efforts.

The people who own the microphones and newspaper ink, are not interested in bringing down the Bushies:(

The fact that they don't even bother to purge a lot of the damning information that's out here, pretty much says that they know they are immune..
