And laffing my ass off at the photos in the OP. Despite the fact that your Titanic model is clearly destined to sink, it is as realistic a reproduction of the Titanic as the models of WTC towers produced by various conspiracy fantasists here. This is great stuff, really. Simply brilliant. :)

10. Some Preliminary Observations

1. The Titanic is long and thin. Even looking at scale drawings on paper, you don't appreciate how long and thin it is until you've got it in your hands at 26.5" by 2.5". It's going to be a trick to get it up to scale speed in the tub.

2. At $9.87 the Bernz-O-Matic mini butane torch is about the MOST FUN thing I have ever bought at Home Depot.

For those of you that scoff at the idea, wire-frame modeling is a tried and tested engineering technique:

Don't forget the Froude Number in your simulation preparation - it will require a different velocity than one reached from simple geometric scaling. It appears you are using a 1:400 scale, which means that the velocity of your model needs to be 1/20th of the actual velocity of the Titanic, not 1/400th.

Good luck getting your model up to that speed in a bathtub (perhaps your bathtub is significantly larger than mine, though).
