Destiny announces plans for solar parking
Destiny USA announced Monday plans for a sort of solar parking garage to cover 20 acres, making it the largest solar installation in NY. It's part of the company's initiative to go green with Carousel Center.

Destiny USA announced Monday a partnership with Hereford Capital Advisors to develop and build up to 3.2 megawatts of solar generating capacity within the Destiny USA site. The photovoltaic (PV) array will be in the form of covered parking located on either side of Solar Street covering over 20 acres, making it the largest solar installation in New York State and the fifth largest installation in the country. The installation will represent over 25% of New York's current solar deployment.

The solar carports will provide 12% of the electrical needs for the 1.3 million square foot expansion to Carousel Center. According to EnergyStar, utilizing solar as a renewable source for 3.4 million kwhs of electricity, Destiny will reduce carbon emission by over 2,635 tons per year which is the equivalent of eliminating co2 emission from of 455 cars annually.
