Stein was just on Sunday Morning talking about how Craig's actions in the bathroom were misconstrued by an over-eager police officer. How Craig was railroaded by law enforcement. How he can understand how Craig would have tried to make the situation go away by pleading guilty. All NONSENSE of course (although maybe this will help hardcore GOP idiots understand that sometimes people do get railroaded by cops and that we do need the Bill of Rights to protect citizens from corrupt or incompetent cops).

Stein also went on to complain that poor Sen. Craig was screwed over by the GOP. How Craig wasn't even gay. How he was thrown overboard by them. Man, where the hell has Stein been? Of course they tossed Craig. He's GAY. They hate gays. They hate anyone that COULD be gay. They hate anyone who supports gays. They hate themselves when they're gay. They hate gay marriage...gay movies...gay flags...gay everything. Craig is just reaping what he's sown and Stein is "shocked". How naive.

I saw it, too, and could hardly believe my eyes. While I appreciate different viewpoints, he is way off on this. For one thing, he ridiculed the police officer. The police were asked to be there by the public--that's us! The people!

So Klein thinks that the police should shrug off complaints by the people who are paying their salaries?

5. The cops were luring guys into the rest room via internet hook-up sites and then busting them

Warning FYI: Men on other sites have reported entrapment by police officers at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul airport using CL (Craigslist) M4M (Men 4 Men), posing as online cruisers to arrange sex meets/hook-ups and then arresting the dude(s) who show up, typically at the shoe-shine T-room (men's room) in the main terminal.

Be very careful about hooking up with people who run ads for layovers or "fun at the airport." Not every man who posts on here looking for MSP action is a cop, but familiarize yourselves with your rights if arrested, and use common sense. Google "Lambda Black Book" for legal info on cruising and arrest.

The social consequences are increasingly severe. Men arrested for cruising are sometimes now charged, amazingly, with "sexual assault" and/or have to report, if convicted, as sexual predators for the rest of their lives. Ridiculous, reactionary, anti-sex, and homophobic, yes. But also now more and more a reality, even with the best attorneys (and even in a "progressive" state like MN).

6. My conclusion drawn from Craig's history.

The guy has too many incidents in his past that say he's gay. This doesn't necessarily mean he's going to cruise bathrooms for sex. It's his standing in the GOP and their hatred of gays is what makes me believe that he needs to have anonymous sex in order to keep his secret from his former brethren. And even though I don't trust cops one bit I find this particular officer's story credible and Craig's version (coupled with his guilty plea) highly suspect.

The media hasn't covered it, either--not that I've paid much attention to them as I always turn it off when they start beating a story to death.


It would be pretty boring sitting in a toilet stall just waiting for something to happen. Maybe the officers get bored and want to rev up the action?

In the Craig case, though, the foot tapping began with Craig so at least that much of it was instigated by him. I wonder if--assuming Craig does try to get this back into court--if more will come to light.

What if the officer solicited Craig over the Internet--said he'd in the second stall down or some such thing at a certain time. Then Craig would think he was following up rather than making a solicitation.

8. Get a room, then. Or a bar. Or a private party. Or a bathhouse. NOT a public bathroom.

Even if it was legal, cruising in public bathrooms is unsanitary, inconsiderate, and potentially life-threatening (both physically and medically) because you just don't know who you're dealing with. And that goes for heteros, too.
