Dec 5, 12:07 PM EST New Ads Target Dean Over Documents, Guns By LIZ SIDOTI Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democratic front-runner Howard Dean is the prime target in two new commercials, one by Joe Lieberman who criticizes his rival for sealing some of his records as governor, the other an independent group that assails Dean's record on gun ownership.<snip>

2. Calling for Dean to unseal his records is another act of desperation
by Lieberman and the other Dems calling for it.

Your campaign, Joe, sits on a political sinkhole -- your lead in Florida has finally been taken by Dean. Face reality, Joe, you suffer delusions of grandeur and are disgracing yourself with your petty attacks on other Dems.

3. saw that
The Ad against Dean can be found at:

http://www.progressivevalues.com/default.asp?ID=2

Just click on the Click Here part. I haven't seen the Lieberman Ad yet though. I don't know much about this Progressive values group, but the guy sounds close to Harkin??? Dean is now taking it from both sides in Independent Expenditures, Club for Growth is attacking him from the right and Progressive Values from the left. Personally, I take that to mean the guy must be doing something right!

4. I hope they...
will play the APV ad everywhere in the south and southwest, esp. AZ, and CO. On top of that how about NH and WV. If people understand Dean will not take their guns away they will be more inclined to vote for him.

5. Missouri, too
Nothing would speak to his ability to win this race like taking the state away from Gep over guns. Missouri is a state Dean can win. He can appeal to farmers and gun owners to get the rural voters. Gun owners and union members mobilized for Dean does not bode well for Gep- OR Bush!

6. if Dean were to win Missouri…
God only knows what kinda retribution state workers would face at the behest of Gephardt's national director.

8. Now that that story is out
Nothing could happen to them without some serious consequences to Gep and the entire Democratic party in MO. I really doubt he wants to take the blame for that. The only people who will support him now are old friends and trial lawyers. It's not like Missouri is full of them. A larger percentage of the general population is working class. Without the Unions, he can't win.
I'm sure he knows that this probably damaged Holden's campaign too. With more animoscity toward him, it puts the governorship at greater risk than it was before. I REALLY resent that!! If he's not going to help us in state politics, he and his staff should stay the hell away from it! Not firing that woman was a mistake. She sounds hardcore. He must be afraid of what she would do to him or something. Screwing up politics in his own state in contrast with Dean going to Illinois to try to help boost congressional candidates. OUCH!!

9. small correction:
the Congressman Dean helped out, Leonard Boswell, is an Iowa Rep… not Illinois.

7. This is where some Democrats are so dumb
They try to make an issue over something the majority of voters don't give a crap about, like sealed records or draft dodging and combine that with attacking positions that actually do matter to a vast number of voters, but take the WRONG side, like with guns. THIS is why the GOP does so well in the south and other parts of the country. Too many Democrats make an issue over shit that no once cares about and then goes against things that many people in those states do care about. Dean understands this and he doesn't try to create issues out of thin air. He focuses on what matters to people and has the common sense not to take an unfair position on the typical divisive issues. That's part of why he has such a broad appeal. Common sense is a great tactic.
