I am leaving you
for Leonard Cohen,
should he ask
out of the blue.
I'll write to you
from his apartment
nestled two floors above
a windswept street
populated by
coffee houses,
bookstores
and little corner stores
selling Miracle Whip.

I will be wearing
Marilyn Monroe sunglasses
and a scarf
when I write to you
with an address
to which you
can send
our cat
and your regrets
for being late with dinner
again.

As I understand it, gas grilling is naturally labor-intensive, so it can take hours of preparation before the meat even goes on the grill, and then the grilling process itself is a lengthy labor of love, sometimes lasting as long as two tall bottles of ice cold beer.
