Ever come across the
http://www.examiner.com site? It's a news media site for the most part, very similar to the "about.com" sites. That is, different people handle different topics and subjects within a field of expertise, and often publish articles to which respondents can comment on.
Well, I became very interested in the whole outlook of the site, and applied to them for a television related writer position. In my application, I stressed my experience in working in the industry, but also the encyclopedic knowledge I have of the subject.
I got approved! It's not a lot of pay--$10 per 1,000 page hits, but we submit 4 separate articles a week, so combined, it could get lucrative after awhile. No contracts, I retain rights to my own work, and I can quit anytime I want.
I have been trying to shake the depression for a long time, and have tried to do some writing again, and this might be what I need--a shake-up to get going again. I often sabotage myself by getting involved in something and then simply not doing it. But I need to try in order to move on.
I'll let everyone know when my first article is up and active. It won't interfere much with all my other work online, but it will require some discipline to me to keep going with it.
