Is Futurama The Best Animated Series Ever?
You can make a good argument for it being so.

3. Well, the animation is secondary to the humor and dialog
all of which are great.

I love the show; hate to lump it into the animation genre; it's more of a satire than animation.

:hi:

4. There was something on in the mid 90s till 99 called Animaniacs..
Edited on Wed Jan-02-08 10:36 PM by Stuart G
Anyone who has ever seen this one will rave. The satire on it was incredible, and the music,... there was an orchestra, was outstanding. Further, the animation was very good.
Produced by Spielberg with great writing, they did take offs on everything from Gilbert and Sullivan, to West Side Story, to the Birds,
to Queen Elizabeth and lastly, the weren't afraid put down on themselves.

..One of their favorites was Star Trek, but they went after Star Wars and Shakespeare too

..But the musical parodies were the best. West Side Story had the same music with different words. They did several on Disney films like Snow White and Pinocchio ..
..Richard Stoner did the music and the words. There were just so many great eps that it is hard to know. Because of the music and songs I would say it was the greatest.

23.  Ah yes,,,,,,,,,Pinky and the Brain...
Edited on Mon Jan-07-08 01:09 PM by Stuart G
There was a satire on Pinky and the Brain...a take off on the Nutcracker Suite that I can picture in my brain this moment. Some of those stories were terrific. Of course, the music and the words were done by a little known fellow, Richard Stoner, and he was great.
He put together the songs for Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, and Histeria. .....These satires were absolutely great..
Once he did a satire on people who do satires..Gilbert and Sullivan...How many Animaniac viewers, 7 - 12, years old would have a knowledge of Gilbert and Sullivan??......

. .Please...if you get a chance... watch these shows, they are well worth your time, and you will have a lot of fun doing so

..............Stuart G...animation fan...

6. No.
It's funny but not that funny. South Park, Family Guy and Beavis and Butthead are/were all funnier. This newer one I've been watching on Adult Swim called "Metalocalypse" is fucking hilarious as well.

10. I like Futurama very much, but I love the Simpsons...
Fittingly, both shows are produced by the same people.

15. They are releasing 4 feature-length films first. One's out already. "Bender's Big Score".

16. 1 feature-length film, and 3 'miniseries' to air on Comedy Central.
Bender's Big Score is the only "real movie" of the bunch. Basically, they took a season's worth of episodes, made a movie out of 3 or 4 of them, and are making 'miniseries' out of the rest. Big Score rocked - I have high hopes for the rest of it.

17. What do you mean by lately?
Because apart from Bender's Big Score, Futurama hasn't had new episodes in years.

Do you mean the repeats are better than the new Simpsons?

19. For the most part, ANYTHING is better than recent Simpsons episodes
No sure precisely when they jumped the shark, but so many of the recent ones suck... maybe it was the death of Phil Hartman (RIP) that broke their spirit. Losing Lionel Hutz and Troy McClure made Springfield a lot less entertaining.

Duckman is the best animated series ever. The second best is The Completely Misadventures of Ed Grimley.

20. I'd say South Park is better...
I especially love how South Park can be responsive to current events within a couple weeks sometimes, rather than referring to it six or eight months after the fact.
