You might be a right winger if..........
...you point to Sean Hannity and say, "See, Jesus can cure
homosexuals!"

or....

...Ann Coulter gives you a "woody".

or...

...You refuse to use any product that has directions that say it
should be used 'liberally'.

I was really getting sick and tired of being sick and tired. all most all the threads in GD and LBN have been depressing me a lot lately. So I was browsing some other sites for some upbeat stuff, I ran across this site and thought I would share it with others that may be feeling the same. So mods if you feel it would be better in the lounge go ahead lock it and move it. Here is the site that you can find more of these gems, http://www.allhatnocattle.net/contest.htm.

Can anyone come up with some good ones to add to it?

1. The first one is saying "Hannity is a cured fag"?

Not funny at all to me. Whenever anyone at DU says: " Bush* is gay," "Rush is gay," "Ann Coulter is a man," "Hitler was gay" I find it to be insulting as it is meant as an attack and not based on any real facts. It is using being "gay" as a "bad" thing--and is a right wing tactic.

It is reminiscent of high-school at best. I frequently think that the substitution of "Gay" for "fag" or "Dyke" in the above statements is not much more then cover for liberal homophobia at places like DU. It is also absolutely freeperish and not progressive (not that DU is that progressive anymore.)

If this had been in the lounge I might have passed by posting in response--since the "it was just a joke, lighten up" response/defense is used there when GLBT people are insulted (possibly unintentionally).

Edited to add: I know that the "see Jesus can cure homosexuals" is meant as a "you might be a right-winger." But it does not work as there is not a right-winger around who does not love that idiot, or who would ever think of him as having had been gay. Hence the "joke" is that "Hannity was a homo." A contextually flawed joke that is basically using the "blank is gay" insult/slur as the thrust of the "humor." So it fails in the comedic as well as progressive context.

2. Well, Hannity is in love with himself...
...and he is a man.

So does that make him a homosexual? Not that there's anything wrong with it. Not at all.

6. Being in love with one's self makes him conceited or narcissistic
Edited on Sun Feb-01-04 08:48 AM by roughsatori
Not "homosexual" as you ask. It is illustrative that you mention a character pathology of Hannity's and link it to being gay. That is a very Dr. Laura thing to do. :P

8. Sorry
Didn't mean it as a slur about gays. Not at all. Just a little humor/bad philosophy to ease the tension.

I was just wondering, since Hannity is male, and he loves himself, does that make him a homosexual?

3. "and is a right wing tactic."
Edited on Sun Feb-01-04 08:22 AM by Rebellious Republica
That was the point, it was not intended as a slur coming from this source. That is exactly what it was intended to illustrate, my BEST friend is gay. He is one of the most caring and giving people you would ever want to meet. I am straight but that has never been a problem for me. I understand your defensiveness, really, I do, it was purley intended as a sarcasism. I apologize if I have offended you

5. "My best friend is gay or black" fill in the blank
Edited on Sun Feb-01-04 08:34 AM by roughsatori
I had to laugh when I read that. Not because I take that as an insult (which many Gays and African Americans do--but that my father once said to a Black person "my best friend is Black" and the person he was saying it too said: "You are racist for saying that." My father who is White later said to me: "but my best friend is Black." "How is that racist to say?" I suppose all of us can only answer that for ourselves.

I was adding the edited part to my above post about knowing it was a joke.

But more then any of that. It is enlightening and an example to me that you apologized. I find that a hard thing to do (and notice that many of our DUers share that trait with me). :pals: :)
