RIP Mom

You fought the good fight with ovarian cancer for 5 1/2 years

Diagnosed one month before her only grandson, my son was born.

She became crippled from the chemo, eventually too weak to travel.

But she set 3 goals:

1. To live to see her 70th birthday... she did
2. To live to see her 50th wedding anniversary... she did
3. To see her only grandchild start kindergarten... she did, she died not long after the last goal was reached. She believed that if he was in kindergarten he would be old enough to have a memory of her.

My son remembers his Nana. He is 7 now, and he remembers her.

Rest in Peace Mom.

:loveya:

16. yes, i think that she surprised us all
i remember when the surgeon took one look in her abdominal cavity a month before my son was born and said basically there was nothing he or anyone could do.

then she went to a gynecological oncologist and she was awesome... then she ended up with the most compassionate oncologist she could have had. she didn't trust doctors but she trusted her.

23. I'm sorry
I also lost my mom to ovarian cancer. Diagnosed March 2004 and I lost her June 15, 2005. My youngest son was 4 when she died, and he also has memories of his "Mimi" and for that I am so thankful.

Your mom put up the good fight against an insidious disease. She lives now in the hearts of those who loved her, including your son.

32. My condolences SPK
I'm so very sorry for your loss and I know how difficult anniversaries can be:hug:

Your mother sounds like she was a wonderful, courageous and inspirational woman and she also raised a son like you and a daughter like SeattleGirl (at least I think you are siblings, no?) and that is another testament to her many achievements in life

I'm glad she lived long enough so that her grandson remembers her and I'm sure her memory will have a cherished place in his heart for the rest of his life. And I'm sure that her memory and legacy endures through the lives that she touched and in the hearts and minds of those whom she loved and who loved her
