Can wearing glasses make dents in your skull? |
|
I have some dents in my skull right behind my ears that were never there before. I just started wearing eyeglasses in the last year and have noticed the dents in the past month. The glasses don't feel too tight.
I know lots of people who wear glasses and have never heard them complain about dents. Is this one of those embarrassing things that no one talks about?
Do your glasses give you skull dents?

2. I don't have them behind my ears but I do get nose dents |
|
but then it's only at certain times. I think my face swells some from sinus problems. I had one pair that the earpieces were closer to my face and I'd get temple dents.

The pressure from the frames can make temporary impressions in your skin/fat/muscle.

5. The dents are in the soft tissue, not the skull. Get the glasses adjusted. |

6. It really feels like space between bone where the dents are |
|
but maybe it's always been soft in that area and I didn't notice before because it wasn't dented.
I bought the glasses at a drugstore so I probably should get a loose pair.

7. Unless you have a severe and dire medical condition, there are |
|
no spaces between the bones of your skull.

8. No but I'd get temporary oily , shiny, nose dents |
|
Contacts really are better. I'm glad I got over my sticking-things-in my-eye fear.

11. Yep, I have one of those too. I assumed it was temporary. |
|
I only need glasses for reading, I can't wear them when I walk or drive so I don't think contacts will work for me.

9. I have them too, but I don't think that's a dent in the skull |
|
just in the head and the fleshy tissue behind the ears. I don't think bone is involved.

10. Well I feel better that I am not the only one. It just doesn't feel like |
|
there are fleshy parts on my head, feels like bone and a thin layer of skin.
I am now wearing the earpieces pointing towards the top of my head so I can even out the dents.

mind you the heavy framed kind like Vuarnet or Raybans. I have major dents behind both ears, I think that is cartilage back there?
Now my reading glasses have something to rest upon. LOL
No worries!

15. You can get nerve compression injuries around the ears |
|
Lots of nerve traffic there. Glasses that make dents above or behind your ears could well be crushing fat, skin, muscle, blood vessels and nerves in those areas. Get 'em adjusted post haste.
