That sounds totally weird! :yoiks: I'm glad you found out about his gun fetish before you got too involved!
I have two really terrible date stories. The runner-up: Not long after I broke up with my first serious boyfriend. A friend had set us up, and I wasn't too keen on it, but I said OK anyway. We were supposed to go to dinner and a movie, and we had decided before that evening that we would go to one of the nicer restaurants in town. Well, he showed up at my door in jeans and a t-shirt and tennis shoes. I was in a very nice dress and heels. He said, "Hi! I thought we'd make it a fun night and just go out for breakfast for dinner!" Strike one... We ended up going to a restaurant that was a breakfast institution in town, so that wasn't so bad. HOWEVER... my date ordered pancakes and bacon. Not a bad thing in and of itself, but watching him eat the pancakes was torture. :yoiks: He meticulously cut a square of pancakes, buttered it one little piece at a time, and then poured three dots of syrup on it. He chewed the little pancake stack twenty-five times, and then he repeated the process until the big plate of pancakes was gone. :freak: OMG, I have never known anyone that anal before or since! :hurts: It took him almost an hour to eat pancakes that way, and we nearly missed the movie (which would have been fine by me). After the movie was over, he walked me to my door, and I shook his hand. I thanked him for dinner and the movie and was really freaked out the rest of the night. He called me the next day, and I told him I appreciated it but that I didn't think things would work out. :yoiks:
The winner: I've described this one before, but there was a guy in my apt. complex (after first bf and before hubby) that I had seen in the laundry area and around, and we had talked a few times here and there. I invited him over to watch tv one night, and we had a nice time. The evening ended with a kiss. I saw him the next day, and he asked me if I would like to go to a concert with him. I said yes, and he said, "Great! We'll have a lot of fun!" The concert day rolls around, and I went to his apartment to meet him. When I walked in the front door, his girlfriend (!) greeted me, and he said, "Hey! I want you to meet my girlfriend! You two should get along great! BTW, your ticket was $20. You can pay me later tonight." I was stunned---he had not mentioned a girlfriend or purchasing my own ticket. :grr: :nuke: I didn't quite know what to do. I stuck around for a few minutes longer, then I said I wasn't feeling well and high-tailed it back to my place. The next day, I saw him in the parking lot but pretended I didn't know he was there. He waved, but I did not wave back. The following day, he knocked on my door, and he asked if anything was wrong. FUCKING MORON---yes, something was wrong! I told him it wasn't cool to ask me out on a date and have a girlfriend at the same time, and it wasn't OK to make me think it was a date when it was really not. He looked dumbstruck, and I said it was nice that he wanted to talk to me but not to bother me again. I found out he and his gf broke up shortly thereafter. (She probably figured out what a clueless dumbass he was!) :grr:
Thank goodness there haven't been any others like that. :)
