Poll question: $300 for Photoshop 7, is it a good deal?
Original package, not a download or anything. Seller's got an excellent record.

And I only just realized how dirty that sounds...

3. A bit high for 7
I got mine (same condition) for $150. Since there have been at least 2 upgrades since, I'd say look for a better price.

(Kudos for not succumbing to pirated software.)

4. Thanks - I'll keep the price in mind,
though $300 may be viable as it's the last version that lacks the activation big brother shit.

And compared to other retailers, the one listed seems credible (I asked him some questions).

5. I just found out that
Adobe will not allow the software to be re-registered.

"Adobe will not allow tranfering of ownership, you can buy it and use it normally, but they will not let you update it or register it in your name. It works fine as it is, you just can't get updates from Adobe."

It's a bit of a pisser. :(

6. If it's still in the shrink wrapped box, it's
never been registered, so you should be ok (unless the 'new' label on it is a crock)

But that must be something new. I bought Illustrator from a person who migrated to Corel Draw and Adobe let us transfer the registration with faxed statements that it had been removed from the original computer and that it was being transferred with all supporting materials. I re-registered it in my name with no problem. Of course, that was about 3 years ago.

7. I did just see Photoshop 6 for $80, new in shrinkwrap. Albeit from Germany
After shipping, $100 isn't bad - then $150 for the CS2 upgrade.

(the ebay seller's record looks pretty good too.)

11. Be careful
PS 6 is pirated extremely often. It was sold as OEM with microtek scanners and today all pirates claim to have such oem CDs. Reviews have shown: almost 100% of all German PS 6 offers are pirated software.

On the other hand: the limitations on re-registration you have mentioned would be totally illegal in Germany - adobe would have to re-register legally obtained software. The whole shit with re-sale limitations imposed by license agreements is illegal over here (the software companies try it anyway, but it's BS - they respect the law as much as the usual pirate).
