What does "Seclorum" mean?
anyone?

I read somewhere that "Novus Ordo Seclorum" means "New Secular Order" however that same phrase (yes its' on the dollar) is translated in many different ways. So I looked it up in Latin to English on-line sites and I can find "Novus" and "Ordo" but no "Seclorum".

Novus = new
Ordo = Rank, class, ORDER
Seclorum = ?

High School Latin was a long time ago.

BTW, I've got a crush on W.Clark since I watched him on Chris Mathews last night. I knew I liked him, but he really spoke up last night. Good!

10. I'm Still In MD... Fort Washington (South Of Oxon Hill)
first beltway exit in Maryland after crossing the Wilson Bridge.

After looking around, we discovered that property values in VA are too bloated. So we decided to stay in MD.

You get more for your money here (as far as actualy PROPERTY is concerned) but... BUT... Prince George's county has it's own baggage as well. Definitely some culture shock going on for me. I'm getting used to it though. This isn't our retirement dream home. Our goal is to get to the Seattle area eventually.

Besides... other than the overpriced property... VA is too conservative.

13. Too conservative?
I guess you got a problem.

Alexandria and Arlington are as liberal as anything can possible be, but they're also more expensive. Fairfax is now majority Democratic, and some areas are pretty damn-near 100%. Now Loudon and Prince William might be a bit more of a problem.

But you're never going to beat PG's prices.

19. Not only that, but in 2006 we'll have Super Bowl XL
...which describes most of the fans thereof.

I can hear the Abbot and Costello routine already:

"What size do you want your Super Bowl XL shirt?"
"XL"
"That's the number alright. What size?"
"XL"
"Yep, between XXXIX and XLI. How big do you want the shirt?"

etc etc :D

16. So much for a classic education

It means "of an age", in this case, as in era, period or generation.

Novus Ordo Seclorum literally means "New Order of the Age"

17. "Seculorum" is the genitive plural of "secula,"
which means "age, era."

"In secula seculorum" (unto the age of ages) is a church Latin way of saying "forever."

How do you get "Providence has favored our untertakings" from that?

And note, fundies: "Providence", not "Jesus" - "Favored" not "blessed" :eyes:
