I am the grumpy old man - "I am old, and I'm not happy."
I have always hated this holiday. Like Yossarian, "I will bet I can name two things to be miserable about for every one you can name to be thankful for." I call this holiday "Cursegiving". Sure, my troubles are doubtless kinda minor, and always have been - my house and belongings have not been destroyed by natural or unnatural disasters, I have not been a battered spouse, a victim of rape or violent crime (okay, once my laundromat was robbed and all my machines wrecked - but I had insurance which paid half of the repair estimate), etc., etc., etc. Yes, things could be worse, but being thankful for the fact that life has not come down on me like a foot on a bug (yet!) seems kinda odd.
Ziggy says "Learn to laugh at your troubles, everyone else does". So I am not going to mention them very much, but this thread is for those who prefer to have a "grumpy cursegiving" rather than one of those other things. Not to encourage unhappiness, but just to say to the powers that be that "I ordered a pizza over here, and I am not going to be happy with the gazpacho soup I got just because some people got rutabaga and others are starving. A lot of others are chowing down on pizza too!"
