When I was on a skimmer (LSD-3) before transferring to the boats, we spent 2 days at Seal Beach onloading ammo to take to Vietnam. On deck we saw a dark cloud approaching that looked like a movie scene I saw with locust swarms darkening the sky.
It turned out to be Ladybugs! Billions of them covered us and the ship going up our noses and in our ears and for those foolish enough to open their mouths they got a mouthfull. It was the freakiest encounter I ever had with bugs.
Before heading back to Longbeach I ended up having to clean ship filters for the next 12 hours. Double-yuk...thanks for the bad memories HH :)
