God damn...I've got the open road...!
Edited on Mon Sep-22-03 10:04 PM by WilliamPitt
Many have I loved - Many times been bitten
Many times I've gazed along the open road.

Many times I've lied - Many times I've listened
Many times I've wondered how much there is to know.

Many dreams come true and some have silver linings
I live for my dream and a pocketful of gold.

Mellow is the man who knows what he's been missing
Many many men can't see the open road.

- Zep, 'Over The Hills And Far Away'

SO cheesy...but I've been having a Zep revival ever since that goddam box set came out. I was a Zep head through all of high school...could have told you the song, length and meaning of EVERY Zep song on any album.

...got older...got more refined...got into the Grateful Dead...got older...etc...

Now, I'm staring down the barrel of 32 years old and the book tour has taken me to Nantucket ---> Boston ---> Philly ---> Delaware ---> Philly ---> Boston ---> New Hampshire ---> Boston ---> Phoenix ---> Denver ---> Boston ---> San Diego ---> Boston ---> San Francisco ---> Boston ---> Montana ---> Seattle ---> Boston ---> New York ---> Austin TX ---> Houston TX ---> Austin TX ---> and on Thursday I leave for Greensboro NC ---> Chapel Hill NC ---> Boone NC ---> Asheville NC ---> and home for a few days before ---> Amsterdam ---> London ---> Oxford ---> Paris ---> Tolouse...

I'm sitting here, old-ass, realizing that I'm in the middle of the Zeppelin fantasy I rambled through 17 years ago. I have the open road. It's mine.

Insane.

Ignore this.

I've reverted to all the 80's and 90's alternative, when alternative was an alternative. But love my zeppelin!

8. Ignore what??
Did you say something???

Led zep rocks. Try some temps if you're driving or the Isleys, their summer breeze kicks seals and crofts 10 ways to Sunday. Did these 30 years ago, firing up as the late shift drive to lauderdale from chi. seventh sojourn by the moodys is a great road album as well.

Hell, Will, you ain't so damn old and you ain't the only one whose youth seems like yesterday. Age is NOT chronological!!!

Enjoy, and open some eyes!!

14. There's something about Zepplin
I never appreciated them in high school, but when I met my husband he loved them (still does). When they released an earlier boxed set in 1990 and I gave it to him for our first Christmas together, he (years later) said he knew at that moment that I was "the one".
So, staring down the barrel of 32, huh? When's the big day? I have 5 more months until 32.

19. What's old
My husband's turning 41 in November. What was once a hot older guy when I was 19 and he was 28 is now bifocals and back problems!

In case you're reading this Dear, I hope you appreciate my sarcasm as much as I've appreciated yours over the years. :loveya:
(He reads this at work occasionally at night, but won't post. If this won't bring him out, nothing will.)

21. Will, here's my favorite Led Zeppelin
Edited on Tue Sep-23-03 12:35 AM by JulieRB
Well, "Rock and Roll" is my favorite. (I've almost forgiven Cadillac for the ads.)

This runs a close second. DH likes it as well, seeing as how we were married ten years as of September 18th.

Ten Years Gone
(Page/Plant)

Then as it was, then again it will be
An' though the course may change sometimes
Rivers always reach the sea
Blind stars of fortune, each have several rays
On the wings of maybe, down in birds of prey
Kind of makes me feel sometimes, didn't have to grow
But as the eagle leaves the nest, it's got so far to go

Changes fill my time, baby, that's alright with me
In the midst I think of you, and how it used to be

Did you ever really need somebody, And really need 'em bad
Did you ever really want somebody, The best love you ever had
Do you ever remember me, baby, did it feel so good
'Cause it was just the first time, And you knew you would

Through the eyes an' I sparkle, Senses growing keen
Taste your love along the way, See your feathers preen
Kind of makes makes me feel sometimes, Didn't have to grow
We are eagles of one nest, The nest is in our soul

Vixen in my dreams, with great surprise to me
Never thought I'd see your face the way it used to be
Oh darlin', oh darlin'

I'm never gonna leave you. I never gonna leave
Holdin' on, ten years gone
Ten years gone, holdin' on, ten years gone

You're a Scorpio? I'm a Leo -- with Scorpio rising, which either makes me the Most Evil Woman in the World, or capable of almost anything ;-). I'm also over the dreaded 4-0, which means that stuff I used to obsess over now just makes me laugh.

Think of all the exciting things the next ten years will bring to you.

Julie

Pfffttt! You're in your prime...enjoy it while you can. :D

Led Zeppelin is probably one of my all time favorites as well. I listened to it in high school (and I'm considerably older than you) plus my sons listened to it throughout their high school years as well. Some music is just ageless.
