The Christian Lending Network: "Money lending based on

Christian Principles."

Are you getting this spam?

A better example of how sticking the word "Christian" in front of any enterprise is just promo, I've never seen.

If I were a Christian, I'd be feeling pretty betrayed by now.

1. So, they give folks double what they ask for and charge no interest?
After all, that's the "Christian Principles" I read in the New Testament.

2. Is this unreal or is it just me?
Christian dating services, I get it. But lending, mortgages and foreclosure services?

What the hell?! How transparent can you be without being invisible?

:wtf:

12. That was the subject of our sermon this very week!
I remember that Christians weren't ALLOWED to charge interest, and that's why the earliest banking houses were Jewish. (which of course led to a whole shitload of unfortunate stereotyping)

8. I'm pretty sure Jesus wasn't a banker
I'm also pretty sure he wasn't the kind who put heavy importance in money. I think one's promise that one would look out for the other was enough of a compensation for Jesus, no?

Didn't he also tip over the tables of some corporate types at one point?

Or am I thinking of some one else?

16. Jesus discouraged borrowing
The person that borrows becomes a servant to the lender.

14. I'm not surprised in the least. Have been cruising hundreds of
Christian sites to get the word out on the Scanlon memo, and there is some serious money being made off marketing Jesus these days.

Scanlon memo:
Consider one memo highlighted in a Capitol Hill hearing Wednesday that Scanlon, a former aide to Rep. Tom DeLay, R-Tx., sent the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana to describe his strategy for protecting the tribe's gambling business. In plain terms, Scanlon confessed the source code of recent Republican electoral victories: target religious conservatives, distract everyone else, and then railroad through complex initiatives:

Mobilization

We plan to use three forms of communications to mobilize and win these battles. Phones, mail and Christian radio. We believe that if you are on TV you are generally losing battles like this. Our mission is to get specifically selected groups of individuals to the polls to speak out AGAINST something.

To that end, your money is best spent finding them and communicating with them on using the modes that they are most likely to respond to. Simply put we want to bring out the wackos to vote against something and make sure the rest of the public lets the whole thing slip past them. The wackos get their information from the Christian right, Christian radio, mail, the internet and telephone trees. (Oct. 2001)

17. Sites kinda light on what those Christian Lending Principles are
Maybe everyone already knows exactly what they mean, but beyond getting the right loan for your circumstances, it doesn't say. Maybe the difference is that they MEAN it.

like some of the freakish righties claim the bible allows . . . of course, the banks don't see it as good for them . . .

22. Christian credit cards, retirement funds and insurance companies
-- it's about the money.

I don't think we'll see Christian natural foods, beauty shops or dog walkers.
