Congressman Demands Rove Resignation over Leakgate
http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=03/10/09/1548214

Rep. John Conyers wrote a letter to Bush’s closest aide Karl Rove calling on him to step down. He also said the Bush administration is engaged in what he called an "orchestrated campaign to smear and intimidate truth-telling critics." We speak with Rep. Conyers and hear an excerpt of his speech on the floor of the U.S. Congress.

The Bush administration announced earlier this week that it would not be handing over the documents requested by the Justice Department as part of its investigation into who outted a covert CIA operative.
Press Secretary Scott McClellan said the White House may need up to 2 weeks to vet the material before handing it over to Justice Department investigators. This comes as the House Judiciary Committee's top Democrat is calling on President Bush’s chief political adviser Karl Rove to resign.

Representative John Conyers, ranking member of the Judiciary Committee wrote a letter to Rove yesterday calling on him bluntly to step down. He also said the Bush administration is engaged in what he called an "orchestrated campaign to smear and intimidate truth-telling critics."

1. Wait to Go Rep. Conyers!
Joining the likes of Teddy Kennedy in kicking some Neo-Con ass. I love it!

7. But they don't end up on the unemployment line. They go underground
and pop up where you least expect it. Just look at Newt. They are the puppetmasters and are always behind the scenes controlling the outcome.

4. I'd love to see Rove go...
...but I must have missed the part where there was any proof of his involvement.

Sure, we all know he's evil enough to do such a thing.
Clearly Plame was an undercover agent, whose life was treasonously and deliberately put in danger by some high official who wanted to threaten others who might dissent.
It's so obvious.

But all the same, I'd still like to see some sort of proof, just to ensure that Rove get's what's coming.

Can someone provide some, other that Wilson's hunches?

9. Okay...
...but how about just a hint of proof?

12. The hint of proof ?
Rove was fired by Bush, Sr. for similar dirty tricks. He is well known for being an underhanded convolutor of the truth. A danger to the security of the US and the world would be a better place without him. Heh!

13. Yes, but...
...look at where you've ended up.

"Who needs proof?"

"....He is well known for being an underhanded convolutor of the truth. A danger to the security of the US and the world would be a better place without him. Heh!"

You use the same type of "reasoning" to eliminate Rove, that you claim PNAC used to justify Iraq.

No justice no peace, brother.

10. The White House is holding back anything that might show this
Given Rove's level of involvementin everything White House, the better question might be how could he NOT be involved in this?

If there is nothing to hide, why not hand over the sacrificial lamb (a la Tenet?)

Wilson's sources (not his hunches) told him Rove at the very least approved the leak.

There was a link in the past with Rove/Novak and leaks - http://www.dailytrojan.com/article.do?issue=/V150/N29&id=03-leak.29v.html

If you really, really want some evidence - join us in demanding an indpendent investigation (other than the stooge of Rove's former associate (Ashcroft) letting the White House Lawyers withhold evidence prior to his pronouncement that case is closed.)

14. I'd like to see Rove's ass out of there, too, but..,
if he goes, he won't go far. He can run bush's operations "off-site" if he has to. Any "dismissal" or resignation of his would be sheer cosmetics. That rat will still be lurking around VERY close by, believe me. But it would be lovely, and so very just, to see him frogmarched out of there in handcuffs, and sent to prison where he has NO access to phones or the internet. He'd be best - muzzled - so he can't do any more damage to anybody or anything.

8. Resignation? That won't do it - whoever
did this needs to be in jail and there's probably more than one traitor there.

11. 2 weeks to "vet" the material?
Is "vet" now a synonym for "shred"?
