2. Nope and I'm concerned cuz people are breaking into homes.
If they broke in then maybe the kitties escaped. They'll do o.k. on their own. But I'll never see them again.

The neighbor I'm concerned about cuz we haven't heard from him so I don't know if he's o.k. I know the part of the Bywater where I lived didn't flood which means that people are breaking into the houses.

4. Local SA Update
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 08:51 AM by LeftyChristian
The Kelly USA warehouse used to house Toyota. Last night on the 10PM news, a C130 was shown landing at Kelly USA. It is a modern facility with a cafeteria that will house 1800. 1200 are expected by mid morning. A high school and middle school have opened their facilities numbers at each place not reported. SA convention center will more than likely be opened. It is in the heart of downtown and a stone's throw from the Alamodome where there are shower facilities and more restrooms.

The 433rd airwing out of Lackland has flown to the NOLA airport and is basically setting up the airport as a large triage and staging area.

In San Antonio, call 211 for a jobs hotline. At least one district has opened enrollment for refugee students with more to follow as the day goes on.

A local SA resident has opened his home to his 35 family members!

All of the above are reports from local media. The 433rd airwing report was something I heard in passing so it may not be accurate other than they have flown out yesterday in C5s.

I could not be more proud of my city, San Antonio, and the people of Houston and East Texas for doing what they can to help in the relief. The people of Houston have set up giant barbecue grills at the refugee locations so that hot meals can be served to the arriving victims.

7. HEB
A San Antonio grocery store chain is sending $100k of food and water to East Texas and Southern Louisiana. Five HEB stores in San Antonio are accepting food donations all weekend for the local refugees and to send to Houston and Louisiana.

A local TV station has raised over $150k for the red cross. The company I work for has pledged $100k and more than likely will give more in the coming months.

8. kicking again!
The refugees don't need politics right now, information on where to go to be safe and dry is paramount at this point!
