Looting in NO
I just wrote to NPR after hearing the intro to their story on looting in NO on All Things Considered....

"In his intro to this piece Robert Siegel made a very distressing comment. He said the piece would discuss one of the most disturbing sights in the aftermath of Katrina. I fully expected him to report on the corpses that are floating in the flood water. Or perhaps about the people who are still unable to locate missing family members. Instead, the report was about material objects that are being stolen. Please, get some perspective. At a time when so many people are losing their lives, the looting of some possessions is not the most disturbing thing that is happening. Keep in mind that the former owners of those objects can get reimbursed for their losses by their insurance carriers. People have lost family members - there is no compensation for that loss"

Thanks for letting me vent

1. Why NPR is no longer on my listening list.
It is just as bad as the rest of them.

4. I've always enjoyed the indepth reporting
and the fact that I can listen while I am on-line. Lately, though, I find I'm yelling at the radio.

6. I started yelling at NPR when they got Coke-y Roberts on there
And it fell silent on my dial the day Juan Williams got on the mike and did his little Shrub election cheerleading report on why Kerry might as well not be in the race. I should have done it when folks on here last year were presenting evidence that the number of conservative organizations from which NPR was gleaning its information was way out of kilter.

5. Go to their website
www.npr.org

The story is on there too - not sure if his disgusting intro is part of it
