Weather Channel
Why is it that the weather channel is the only reliable news source on Katrina and New Orleans and other parts of the gulf coast. Sheesh.. get home and watch MSNBC and CNN and they are talking about the stock market, they are talking as if this was no big deal. I turn on the Weather Channel and its a completely different story.

What the hell is happening???

4. But CNN said they're the Hurricane Headquarters?
I guess when the hurricane turns back into a tropical storm that title no longer applies.

7. It's a 24 hour NEWS channel (at least that's the description); they do
have other news to cover — even if it's just missing teens. If you want wall-to-wall hurricane coverage, the Weather Channel is best.

6. I didn't phrase that right..
I know they specialize in weather but it would seem since Katrina wasn't what they thought she was, the loss of life and property don't really matter anymore. I am shocked by this. I have been watching all three channels since yesterday and for them to suddenly drop off from reporting the facts was a little shocking.

It wasn't until I came on to DU and saw the reports from the local station that I realized it was worse than reported.

I apologize for not being clear. Tired and not thinking clearly.
:hi:

8. No problem. But when you want that kind of in-depth reporting, you
have to count on the specialist.

3. I shun the froth channels during weather disasters
and rely on The Weather Channel.

They outclass all others by miles and miles.

5. The Weather Channel has also proven itself willing...
to utter the phrases "global warming" and "climate change". Another valuable public service.

10. Doncha know
that only the people for whom the stock market is the #1 concern matter to the advertisers that pay the bills to keep those "news" stations on the air?

The rest of us, not so much.

11. Which probably explains why they kept cutting in and out all morning here.
MSNBC, CNN, etc., all worked fine.

Thanks, Comcast!

I'm addicted to them, as they are very reliabe and always interesting. Their stories on The Growing Climate Changes are always a must see.
