Could Illegal Immigration be the Key?
Could Illegal Immigration be the key to turning the majority of republicans against Bush? I've listened in on several RW talk radio shows and BBs and I've come to the conclusion that:

1. Repubs HATE Illegal immigration
2. Repubs HATE Bush for Illegal immigration
3. They don't know why other than Bush is just Kissing up to President Fox

The real reason is more likely that as long as Bush keeps turning a blind eye to illegal immigration, Mexico stays in line as our #2 provider of oil (see: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=4481904&mesg_id=4482020)

Here are the top providers according to that post:

Thousand Barrels/day

1 Canada 1,616
2 Mexico 1,598
3 Saudi Arabia 1,495
4 Venezuela 1,297
5 Nigeria 1,078
6 Iraq 655
7 Angola 306
8 Kuwait 241
9 United Kingdom 238
10 Ecuador 232
11 Algeria 215
12 Russia 158
13 Norway 143
14 Colombia 142

When you think about the top 10 providers here, Iraq and Venezuela were the only two non-cooperating countries. Well, Iraq has been set straight. The covert-war drumbs are now beating against Venezuela (calling for his assassination, calling him a dictator, etc...).

Canada doesn't need to worry because the U.S. keeps strong-arming it on most key trade issues and they need us as much as we need them. Our admin has close ties with Saudi Arabia. Kuwait, Ecuador and UK are loyal.

What keeps Mexico in line? Could it be that as long as the Bush admin turns a blind eye to illegal immigration that the oil keeps flowing from our #2 provider? Explain this to a freeper and watch their head explode.

2. While you have a point, I'm not saying we agree with them
But rather, use their own political stance to open their eyes to the true motivations of the Bush administration...

ok, you just made me realize what I'm saying is impossible: "open their eyes to the truth..."..

*sigh*

3. I think Shrub really supports illegals from Mexico because his
Corp. buddies want to hire them for cheap wages and pure greed!

I don't beelieve oil has much to do with his support of Fox.

4. Mexico is at peak oil if not so close it is not even funny
they are now even talking about it

Now pubsies hate immigration, period, but it is easier to take a stance against ilegal immigration which actually has an easy solution. Yes I will sound just like one... ENFORCE existing law.

Once you maie it so expensive for corporations to hire ilegals that will dry out. They are the primary employers, but we need to go after the coprporations adn enforce current law, with the concomitant fines

6. The only position that matters is that of GOP and Dem 2008 candidates

lets say that McCain runs in 2008. Would his well known anti-immigrant rhetoric be handicapped by current Bush policies? I think not.
