For some, the hour of desperation is here.
Did you read about the gas attendant who was mowed down by a man who stole $52.00 of gas? Read it here:

http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Driver_runs_over_gas_station_owner_for_52__0821.html

In another, seemingly unrelated incident, there is an e-mail going around the net. Here, read a part of it for yourself:

"Congressman Hobson. I am not so young nor so naive as to think that "the government" can waive a magic wand and takegasoline prices back to $1.25/gal. However, many of us in your district drive 80-200 miles a day tofind work. With gas prices at current levels, it amounts to serious pay cuts because the amount ofspendable income left for food/mortgage-rent/bills is diminished markedly at these levels. And if notfor the human factor, the political hammer this gives to the liberals who will swear that they can fix itis terribly dangerous. Something must be done and soon. I wish that I had an intelligent solution to offer.signed,Bill..."

Think about the person who wrote this letter and others like him. These people probably live check to check, and their jobs are probably day to day. These are the people who are getting hit first with the gasoline prices.

I would be a little more than concerned because I don't think W has a plan. The writer is obviously holding back no punches because he pulled the "L" card. Basically, he said, fix the gasoline problem or the liberals will have YOUR job.

8. You've succombed to the rightist meme.
Democrats have plenty of ideas. But, for the sake of argument, "no ideas" would be far better than the parade of lousy ideas recycled from the trash heap of dead conservative thought that we've been treated to over the past 5 years or so.

13. Short Term Ideas - List One - Long Term Ideas
The Party should have supported Jimmy Carter when it had a chance.

History tells the tale.

14. Oust the crooks. The people who bought the country ...
... via the Republican party are doing just fine thank you. If you have a room full of pickpockets with big "I'm a pickpocket" signs on them and your wallet goes missing, there is no need for a "plan." Just kick out the pickpockets and the wallets will stay where they belong again.

Plan? The best plan is to put a stop to the current Republican "plan." Look where we are now thanks to Republican rule. If we were back in power, we Dems could just do what we did in the 90's. It's more like restoring sanity than charting out a plan.

Plans are bull at this point.

2. Bush has a plan.
He's planning on letting Big Oil companies fix prices and gouge us for even more record profits.

3. He did not say he would ever vote for a Liberal though
He is just a typical Republican who is trying to intimidate his representative by threat. I have absolutely no sympathy for him what-so-ever. Liberals will fix the problem and any stupid Republican who feels it is not Bush*'s fault deserves exactly what they get.

4. Imagine a person "on call" as I am.... let's say I get perhaps 15
miles from my office/place of work. I get called in to do "something" that only lasts 1 to 1.5 hours. 40 miles divided by 15 equals 2.6. That's 2.6 gallons of gas at 2.60/gallon. That's 7 dollars in gas.

Let's say I make minimum wage or even 10$ per hour. I come in, work for 1.5 hours... make somewhere between 9 to 15 dollars... and give back 7 in fuel expense. Add to that tires and wear and tear and you lose.

It will soon begin costing people to go to work... especially in the sort of scenario just laid out.

5. My Mom was reminding me last night...
..of the 70's gas crisis and people siphoning gas tanks at night. It won't be long until we're all back to locking gas caps. I don't think those new state laws in which the theft of gas from pumps resulting in a loss of driver licenses will be much of a deterrent. Desperate people do desperate things.

11. There was a report on the
local news just last week about a woman who had her gas siphoned and how the locking gas caps are selling out. Here we can get gas then pay and many are taking off and not paying.

12. Locks keep honest people honest
Locking caps last about ten seconds, they're not that big of an obstacle to get around, a burglar alert system would do better if it doesn't go off ten times a night.

6. reduce demand
Much of the competition for oil supplies comes from China that uses the oil to make those TV sets, DVD players and other consumer goods that Joe Sixpack is soon going to not be able to afford to buy. I can see the economic death spiral coming soon.

Tax cuts for the rich, the rest of us paying for Bush's war at the pumps.
