Supreme Court Nominee John Roberts quote on women:
http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/nation/ny-uscort194389378aug19,0,3268909.story?coll=ny-nationalnews-headlines

And in a 1985 memo about a corporate scholarship program for women, Roberts said, "Some might question whether encouraging homemakers to become lawyers contributes to the common good."

:grr: :grr: :grr:

1. Love the language
"Some might ask". Trying to cover his ass even as he espoused these oppressive viewpoints.

3. Why is any Democrat being sympathetic toward this idiot
and saying we should support him.

It is the beginning of the end for women's rights as we know them if this guy gets his seat.

Why won't people open their damned eyes?

4. Sounds like he and Santorum share the same views on women...
Barefoot and pregnant, yep, that's the natural order. Although, the women (and men) studying the "unscience" of intelligent design certainly won't qualify for any ivy league schooling either.

Disgusting.

9. Why'd he have to go and use lawyers as the example?
I could think of a lot of careers that would be better than being a lawyer!

Trick question.

10. The real question is "will Roberts sitting on the SC will contribute to
the common good?" Roberts' remarks seem to have already answered that question.

12. Please note the date: 1985, not 1955 or even 1965
But our fine elected Dems can't seem to find any really good reasons to oppose him sufficiently.
