3. Actually, the coverage is pretty good.
The reporter said, flat out, that the pick up truck ran over "crosses, American flags and flowers."

That SHOULD make any God-fearing 'Murikan bust a gut, but, of course, the fundie Freeper neo-cons will still think it's OK because they desecrated an anti-Iraqi-War Mom's vigil.

4. Good video of crushed crosses- man being charged- criminal mischief
Very good long video shot along the row of crosses. Kelly O'donnel said pickup truck has flags and crosses caught underneath. He has been arrested and will be charged with criminal mischief.

15. He's excellent at making people stay on point during interviews, but
as I understand, yesterday on Imus, someone posted this discourse between Imus and Gregory. I am not too happy about him with this at all.

Imus supports Cindy on morning show.

Imus to David Gregory: "Why hasn't bush talked to this lady?"
Gregory: "Why? Do you think he should?"
Imus: "Yes."
Gregory: "He already talked to her once."
Imus: "So What? We have you on all the time."

I liked that answer. The wingnut's standard reply is, "He already talked to her."
Finally someone gave the obvious answer: SO WHAT?

Half a truth is often a great lie. Benjamin Franklin

25. I think you misunderstood David Gregory and his relationship with Imus
They do a back-and-forth thing where one is always interviewing the other. It's like two people trying to be top dog and control the discussion--they do it with snarky good fun, they actually get along fairly well. It reminds me of the Ackroyd-Curtin (Jane, you ignorant slut) bits on SNL from years gone by.

David Gregory has been one of the sharpest critics of this administration from the git-go. He regularly sinks his teeth into Scotty McClellan's ass, and it makes for great tv, if you watch the WH briefs on CSPAN.

To characterize him as a wingnut is totally wrong.

35. I am so happy to have your take on this, as I have recently become
a fan of David Gregory, and especially his tenaciousness. Something I have not seen in a reporter in way too long of a period of time. I was just reading someone else's account, and very possibly, if heard in person, would have a different "take" on it.

Thank you!

38. See, one thing about Imus as well
is that even though he is an ass at times, he has very good interviewing skills. He has that unique ability to get people to blurt shit out that they did not want to say. David Gregory has the same talent. Short questions, direct questions, yes or no, no bullshitting allowed. So, whenever they have a conversation, they are both doing the "interviewing" mode. It's kind of an 'Inside Baseball' type deal, but they do it deliberately, and try to outdo each other. The conversations can get pretty interesting, especially since Gregory is very, very circumspect about tipping his hand, being a member of the 4th Estate, while Imus, as a commentator on world events, has more wiggle room.

Thanks for bringing me back to reality - he has flaws just like anyone else (i.e., like Imus).

23. I think he is GREAT
He does not let people get away with not answering a question. He is not longwinded, he asks simple, direct questions and pushes for real responses. He lets people finish and does not step on their line UNLESS they are bullshitting and trying to waste time.

And, he is Jewish. I'm not Jewish, but there don't seem to be many non-Christians in the talking head business--we could use a little more variety and perspective from other faiths as well as cultures.

Lastly, he speaks perfect French. When he was in Europe on a Bushtour, he asked Chirac a question in French. Chimpy pitched a fit and threw some spanglish at him (along the lines of "Ewww, Kay Bew-ah-no...see, I speak a foreign language TOO, heh heh heh."). Chimpy looked like a petulant asshole...a fine sight to see, and one that is all too common whenever the putz appears in public....

22. Good. Yesterday the Today Show was gushing over Laura's new chef
with some utterly stupid segment on how Laura made history by selecting the first female chef for the white house and how she's also a minority. Wonder of wonders, a lady doing the cooking. Now that's big news.

In the North, sturdy immigrant girls were preferred.

Nowadays, the cook probably speaks Spanish.

MSNBC needs to include it in their hourly news updates.

David Gregory needs his own show. MSNBC should ditch one of their recycled puke stars and give David a show. :loveya:

39. They need to dump Timmy "Plame Grand Jury" Russert
AKA Mr. Potato(e) Head. I saw Andrea Mitchell doing Meet the Press, and GUESS WHAT--she actually had THE PRESS on the program!!!!!!! That used to be the concept of the show--a couple to four or so reporters would be interviewed by the moderator on aspects of news stories, and then there would be a special guest, a rep, a senator, or whomever was in the news during that week.

Nowadays, the show is "Meet Chunky Republican, who shills books about his dear old Paw" and it bears no relationship to the quality program it used to be. Old Timmy has jumped the shark, and he needs to be eaten by one (that would be a meal and a half).

Questions also exist about vice presidential aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby. He has indicated that he did not know Plame's identity until he heard it from journalists, but one of Libby's suspected sources, reporter Tim Russert of NBC, has denied giving it to him. Libby's lawyer has declined to comment.
