Educate me.Why doesn't Mr.bush simply meet with Cindy for 1 hour?
I really truly don't understand why he won't.

I heard his drivel on the news tonight(smirk smirk makes me want to slap him) about "this is america and I respect her right to her opinion, I've heard this same opinion from other people and we're not going to withdraw from Iraq blah blah blah blah blah" but he NEVER said anything about just meeting with her.

I can understand that he won't change his Iraq position, but still, why the hell doesn't he simply meet with her like she is asking? Just meet with her.

Besides his basic evil controlling arrogance I mean. Anyone?

Coward In Crawford!

Seriously, he would have to answer questions and he can't do that. He would have to be polite and he can't do that. He would have to appear concerned and humane and he can't do that. He would have to act like he thinks the common folk have any relevance, and he can't do that.

He won't meet with he because he knows his limits and knows she has him so outclassed there is no way in hell he could bluff his way through a real discussion with her. He's a fucking fraud and he knows it.

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=514&u=/ap/20050812/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_64

"I sympathize with Mrs. Sheehan," Bush said. "She feels strongly about her position. She has every right in the world to say what she believes. This is America. She has a right to her position. And I've thought long and hard about her position. I've heard her position from others, which is, `Get out of Iraq now.'"

"And it would be a mistake for the security of this country and the ability to lay the foundations for peace in the long run if we were to do so," the president said.

21. Exactly.Since he gave this speech today, why not just meet with her?
I mean, he can just meet with her. He doesn't have to hug her, or change his foreign policy, but JUST MEET WITH HER. All I can come up with is his overwhelming arrogance. I know the longer it goes on, the more stupid and arrogant he looks and the more people might understand how arrogant her actually is. But why don't they see it.

I must be simple minded. If your hand, which is in the flame of a candle, hurts, simply take your hand out.

but, do have to say that if Bush meets with her...he invites more of the same down the road. The less of this kind of stuff the better, politically, for him.

He hopes that after his vacation, this will all die out...just a blip on the radar screen. It is up to us to make sure that doesn't happen....we need to support Cindy in dogging his every step---she goes where he goes....IMHO.

20. I think it is because he is afraid to.
She wants to ask him a simple question that he does not want to answer. It would a most uncomfortable thing for him to do, we've all seen how testy he gets when somebody actually gets up the nerve to question him on something.
So he tells his handlers to deal with it, and now we see the familiar slime tactics oozing out...They're trying to rally their ever-shrinking base and it is fascinating to watch...

weak and it would open the door to other mothers or relatives to demand answers as well.
If he doesn't, he looks like the uncaring dolt that he is, holed up in his compound afraid to come out. They're trying to head that image off with him jetting all over the country signing bills and staging that weird press conf. surrounded by his henchmen.

A real man would have met with her first day and taken his licks to get her off the front page. But they're all idiots. Cheating and lying in this situation isn't going to help them, and that's what they know how to do best.

37. It also helps with that "working vacation" illusion they like to tout.
I don't think this was *'s decision. Rove or somebody planned the strategy about what to do with Cindy. Somebody wrongly thought that if they ignored her she would be forgotten after a day or two.

If he had invited her in on day 1 for a private, not taped, talk there would have been a little in the press and then probably forgotten. They could have invited the astronauts over for a BBQ or something and that would have been that.

Now it's too late. This thing has put them in a real bind.

Even the RW hate-radio morans are spinning like crazy.

24. Fundamental rules in bfee
Never, ever, ever admit to having any doubts about the revealed truth of your convictions, there's no way you may be smarter tomorrow than today.
Never even consider the opinions of anyone outside your immediate cheer leading circle.
Smearing anyone with a differing opinion is not only smart politics, but highly ethical as long as it can be blamed on someone else.
God was, after all, made in your image and smiles in benevolent admiration on all your wonderful work to save the world, since it's his will you are where you are.

There are more, but you get the picture.

29. she represents everything
he does not want to face about this war. And he knows very well that she represents countless other military families and objectors to the war. Better to marginalize her.

Someone else said in another thread that in Bushworld, the more he does NOT pay any attention to her the stronger he appears to his base. So he actually gets a surge of support the longer he keeps her at bay. Also he figures if he stonewalls, she'll just fade away. The usual 'us vs them' mentality. Big misunderestimation.

In the mentality of this type of power abuser, there is no diplomacy, no compromise position. There is no guilt.

evidence of his own wrongdoing to be acknowledged by his conscious self. Sheehan isn't some hand-picked supporter. She isn't even under any social pressure to avoid criticising him. In fact, she openly *blames* him. He's responsible for her loss, and she'll tell him so.

He probably has a whole list of fake "reasons" for not meeting with her- and I'll bet he almost believes they're true. Not quite, but almost.

Remember when Bush was asked to name his worst mistake, and he couldn't even think of *one*? I tell you, he is incapable of acknowledging his own faults. He cannot do it.

She is a gold mine for * and company and they will milk this for all it's worth. He doesn't care one iota about soldiers dying. All he cares about is money, money, money and what it takes to get away with what he and his evil cabal have been doing for the past 4 1/2 years.
