Is Randi Rhodes Entertaining?
In Boston we get Ed Schultz in the 3-6PM slot. When I listen to Randi Rhodes later, she is not half as fun.

108. I love Randi Rhodes and find her to be very professional.
But I think we all have our personal fav's. We are all diverse and we should appreciate the diversity. If we don't then we make any and all of the attempts to have progressive media fail.

How about we bash O'liely instead?

3. I am a huge Mike Malloy fan. When I'm not listening to Malloy
I'm listening to Randi. Randi has a great show and she tells it like it is.

I get a little upset with some of her callers when they won't shut up. She'll try to overtalk them without muting them.

6. Ed Schultz sucks big time
he sounds like a higher pitch Rush Limbaugh and really doesn't get into depth with anything political.

Franken sucks except for when David Brock and Joe Conason are on.
Without Randi in the early afternoon I have no reason to tune into AA.

63. I completely agree...Ed sucks
I listened to him for quite a while to get a good sense of who he is. I don't mind that he is a former republican, but it seems he doesn't understand liberal thinking at all. Also, he gives air time to LIEberman without questioning his decisions, in fact he backs him up. It would be okay that he is moderate IF he understood liberalism and respected it.

I adore Randi, she knows the issues, is always well researched, AND I find her entertaining.

15. For Funny you listen to Limbaugh or O'Reilly
Each one Franken, Schultz, Rhodes, etc., have something different to offer. Each one is extremely well informed and quite capable of dealing with the radical con-caller. I have learned something or have had my own opinions confirmed by each one of them.

This is what is so refreshing about them all. They are not spewing the same tired garbage that the mediawhores have been dishing out for the past 15-years.

I don't need media whores, my TV doesn't go there unless a good Oberman is on. I love AAR, I just cant take her, that's all.

9. I tune out the riffs about her personal life mostly.
But once she gets down to business, whether it's
9/11 or like today, the airline pension story, she's
incomparable at framing the issue so it's easy to
understand.

Also, I will be forever grateful to her for the way
she ripped up Nader when she first came on the air.

Not going to re-fight the fact that Ralph wouldn't cop

Bush criminals to steal 2000.

Let's just say that she was totally speaking for me.

So did the House Democrats.

Ralph made himself irrelevant when his ego got in the
way of doing the right thing for the country, and I was
glad Randi gave him hell about it. He deserves that
and more.

i hope your daily hate sessions for 4 years made you feel better but the problem with our appeasing, corrupt and big biz Dem's (third way) remains.

46. Hope you're being sarcastic.
Because if you're not the chip on your shoulder
must really be making your back ache.

Ralph is a loser, a nobody now. He gifted the
WH to Bush by splitting the progressive vote and
helped start this nightmare.

And you say I'm the hateful one. That's a laugh.

Like I said, I'm not going to have this old, tired
argument with you.

Randi Rhodes ripped Ralph Nader a new one and made
him so mad he stormed off the air like the spoiled
brat that he his.

For that, she is my hero. 'Nuff said.

You're the one who tried to pick that same old, lame,

So quit projecting your own weaknesses onto me.
I made my feelings very plain about how I feel about
Ralph and Randi.

You're the one who started analyzing me and telling

and you keep responding with foaming at the mouth hate against another progressive.

it's a terrible affliction that effects many who are looking for someone to blame except our own leaders for their own shortcomings especially their abandonment of weTHEpeople and their embrace of corp America (third way) which has led to our current very serious problems.

maybe if the Dem leaders gave an ear to informed progressives instead of the door we may be in a stronger united position to fight the right instead of letting this imbalance grow.

united we stand divided we fall.

good night

You tried to start a fight that I said I wouldn't want
to have.

You're the one who is doing their best to try to
offend me.

So I guess you're sick of yourself then, aren't you?

Of course, that would be logical, and there's no
logic in your posts whatsoever. They're filled with
non-sequiturs and nonsense.

Randi Rhodes ripped Ralph Nader a new one because
she was mad at him. I was mad at him too. I'm allowed
to be mad at him for what he did.

I'm sorry if you don't like it, but that's just too
goddamn bad.

This does remind me though... Where is St. Ralph now? Disappeared? Off the radar? Thrown out of the party he crahsed? At Gitmo for speaking truth to power?

Just like 2001-2003, where that corporate whore, Al Gore tore Bush a new asshole at every event he was in, where was St. Ralph? Nowhere to be found, has nothing to say, and does no work for change. But in 2004...WATCH OUT, our savior has arrived! Expect him to be released from some strange exile on Jan 15-31, 2008, to save us all again. Nooo...he's not an egotistical whore at all.:eyes:

At first, I had all sorts of middling feelings about her. I came to understand that she is probably the most ethical, intelligent person on the planet. She's brave, deep, and damned cool. Of all liberal hosts, I get the most hard information and solid opinion from her. The front is just a front. She's it. She and Barbara Boxer. And Mike Malloy. I love these people.

45. My feeling exactly!
I love Morning Sedition quite frankly....Mark and Mark absolutlely crack me up and MS has totally replaced NPR as my morning show. I used to be a loyal NPR junkie, but they have lost me (except for the weekend shows). Something about Randi (sp) and Al Franken just turn me off....
Therefore, I tend to turn them off, when they're on. I do like the rest of the AAR line-up though.

Just a personal opinion....

47. Whenever I listen to her, she is extremely abrupt and rude
It annoys me that she shouts over the callers. The average caller gets in about 10 words and then its the Randi show. I really hate this.

I also cannot stand her whining nasal voice. It is very annoying.

But I do like the content of what she says.

I've been listening to her since before the war. She was the only voice out there I heard that talked about the things I was thinking. When even a lot of the Dems seemed to be on board with the Iraq war plan, she was against it. She kept me from insanity. Although I do get mad at her from time to time for not letting people talk, I still find her very entertaining, so I listen regularly.

I stream him instead of Al Franken when I'm at work. I like him because he spends a lot of time on economic and class issues, and he kind of sounds like a college professor. He's also good with his callers and manages to argue without having a screaming match.

Randi is my #1 favorite even tho' I wince when she rips a strip off of a caller that didn't really deserve it. She has so much information about everything, and makes me laugh.

My third favorite is Rachael Maddow, even tho' I can't listen to her new show because it's too early. ;_;

Sometimes I find her extremely engaging and interesting, other times she annoys me, primarily because she tends to talk over her callers, including those that disagree. 67. agree
She does talk over opposing callers, it's not always a clean back and forth argument. She doesn't cut them off right away like rush but she effectively shuts them up by talking over them.

Sure she may be right but she's not making a structured back and forth argument. Sometimes she's yelling then she repeats some long spiel she just got through saying.

She's intelligent and very informed she just doesn't always argue cleanly.

I still like her 100 percent better than any of the hate talkers.

Edited on Wed May-11-05 11:48 PM by Kalun D
I guess I sort of thought she didn't buy the bush 911 conspiracy theory, but then today she interviewed the military/CIA? guy that went to afghanistan to get bin ladens head and send it back in a box.

She's promoting the bin laden did 911 line. She asked the guy if bin laden ever worked for the US (of course he did) and when he said no, she just accepted it without saying anything.

Mike Malloy is more true to the truth, 911 was a scam. Rhandi can't be that uniformed with all the 911 facts running around NYC, she has to be taking the governments stance for whatever reason I know not.

Randi has lots of questions about 9/11. She's done some great shows on the subject. She's said before that she won't talk about something unless she has the facts and can prove it. She has great links and resources at her site to help with research. She also says not to believe everything you hear, and do your own research.

Personally, I tend to think 9/11 was an inside job -- selected to be the next Pearl Harbor...

right-wingers. Now I listen to all AAR streaming if I'm at home, and XM Radio America Left when I'm in the car, which includes Ed.

If you like screamers (which I do most of the time) then you really like RR and Malloy. Of those 2, I really like Malloy the best. I really think Janeane and Sam belong in this group. I really enjoy them, too.

If you like comedy, then Al and Morning Sedition will appeal to you. I happen to really like both of these shows.

Ed is a newbie to the Democratic Party. I think he does well now and will only get more outraged as he learns more about the liberal causes and how our democracy is going down the toilet. He gets going pretty good sometimes, but is too nice to moderate guests and doesn't hold their feet to the fire. He is good for conversions in red areas. He likes guns, read meat, etc., all of which goes against the "liberal elite" label.

As you can see, I'm just damn happy not to have to listen to the right's hate radio anymore. I think all the above mentioned have their place in the saving of our America.

Edit for speling

75. I think Randi is pretty good, not great
I've heard her several times with Freeper callers, though, and she often completely misses their point while she is yelling at them. Maybe it's just because I have a different perspective while driving in my car, but it seems to be fairly regular when I'm listening to her that it happens. Their original points are easy enough to respond to usually, it's just that I think she hears a few key words and just starts firing back.

One thing I do like about her is that she always has her facts straight and she will tell you where she got them.

77. Randi is good but Stephanie Miller is great
Steph just tops the list, IMHO. She's smart and does funny stuff with her Voice Guy (who is phenomenal). Her skits are fast paced and witty, where Al Franken's can get slow and the humor labored and Katherine Lampher is sometimes just disagreeable.

I guess it's good that we have Ed Schultz as he might attract the young white males to at least hear part of our side of the story. But I just turn off all the stuff he puts out there about his son's golf game, football, etc.

Morning Sedition's two guys are infantile a lot of the time and not very bright.

Randi is good because she's fierce.
