Arrogance is essential to Bush's success
Bolton's U.N. ambassadorship serves as the latest example

President Bush circumvented the Senate and made John Bolton U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. No surprise in that.

Bolton's Senate confirmation had long ago proved problematic. The former undersecretary for arms control and international security had considerable baggage - a notorious intolerance for underlings who differed with any of his policies and a comparable dislike for the U.N. itself. Democrats and a few Republicans opposed Bolton.

Given the impasse, Bush's recess appointment of Bolton was all but guaranteed. Moreover, the president's refusal to back down from Bolton's opposition further ensured the appointment. Above all, his arrogance in this and other critical matters made it a done deal.

1. America has put all its eggs in the arrogant stewardship of one man
and almost surely will reap all that has sown.

some very good friends have recently relocated to the hearth of texas and still stay in touch.
they were lucky enough to find some fellow artists and literate types outside of San Antonio, and have made some good friends. But overall, the majority seem to revel in their ignorance, as though it is something worthwhile. It is as though a percentage off the population turns off their brains on certain topics:

football
Bush
Iraq
football

in that order. And they refuse to even take a look at contrary facts which fly in the face of their predetermined opinions.

11. I best not tell you that I love soccer, huh?
Unpatriotic and all that?

i always suspected that my friends' tales are part hyperbole, part entertainment, and part based in factual events. But they do say that a small core of Texans really think that Bush walks on water.

3. There's political success, and then there's actual 'success'
While Bush has had political success, almost nothing else he's tried to do (other than the tax giveaways and regulation liftings) has worked.

His economic plan? Crap. Catching bin Laden? Nope. Iraq? A mess and getting worse.

So ironically, while his arrogance (and his cheating) has given him political power, it has also caused him to squander that power on egotistical misadventure.

5. I don't know was it ignorance that led the Bush junta to pretend
that Bolton's nomination was stalled by only Democrats while ignoring the dissent from Republicans like Voinovich?

aren't we supposed to be "moving forward" and stuff?

after attacking Clinton for years, its almost cute the way the Bushies are quick to use him to defend their asanine actions. I thought he was a horrid stain on America and some dress or something.

And you want to EMULATE that? Shouldn't they be BETTER than Clinton?

Do you really want Bush associated with CLINTONIAN tactics? My god, what has modern conservatism come to! Citing Clinton in defense of their policies!
