al JazeeraPro-Taliban fighters have fired rockets at an army base in northwestern Pakistan, killing one soldier and injuring two others, the military has said.
The attack on Wednesday came hours after Pervez Musharraf, the Pakistani president, dismissed rising attacks in the region as "pinpricks".
The attack followed fighting on Tuesday that left seven troops and 37 fighters dead in the mountainous area close to the border with Afghanistan.

Musharraf said "it doesn't mean much" that Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahri are still at large, and that 100,000 Pakistani troops deployed to the region are not focused on locating the two, believed by many to be in the border region.
