Discovery rockets to space
Source: CNN.com

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida (AP) -- Space shuttle Discovery and a crew of seven rocketed away Tuesday in pursuit of the international space station, where a formidable construction job awaits them.

Discovery blasted off at 11:38 a.m., carrying up a giant Tinkertoy-type link that must be installed at the space station before European and Japanese laboratories can arrive.

Despite a forecast calling for rain right at launch time, the weather ended up cooperating.

And a chunk of ice on plumbing between the external fuel tank and Discovery -- 4 inches by 1½ inches -- was deemed too small by NASA to pose a serious launch hazard. It appeared to be melting as the countdown entered its final minutes

1. Shit, I'm so consumed by what this asshole in the W.H. is doing,
I didn't even realize another shuttle was going up so soon. Thanks for the info.

3. Just pile tax dollars in a heap and ignite.
At least it would keep someone warm. NASA is the most useless waste of tax dollars there is. Let the corporations that benifit from space exploration fund it.

4. NASA is partially broken, but far from worthless..
Please check out the recent Mars missions if you don't believe me.

Are you a Libertarian by chance?

5. BS overgeneralization.
I agree that the shuttle is a waste of money. What NASA should be concentrating on is working on space colonization and making a space telescope big enough to see Earth-like planets.
