"One of Saddam Hussein's lawyers was killed Wednesday after he was abducted from his home by men wearing police uniforms in Baghdad, court officials said.

Khamis al-Obeidi, who represented Saddam and his half-brother Barzan Ibrahim in their eight-month-old trial, was abducted from his house at 7 a.m., Saddam's top lawyer, Khalil al-Dulaimi said.

Chief prosecutor Jaafar al-Moussawi said that al-Obeidi had been killed, although he did not provide details."

6. Saddam lawyer killed in Baghdad

A lawyer for ousted Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein has been found dead after he was kidnapped from his Baghdad home, the third member of the defense team to be slain.

A US official close to the court said Obeidi had declined an offer to stay inside the fortress-like Green Zone, seat of the Iraqi government and home to the US diplomatic and military corps, where the trial is taking place.

Despite the massive security operation in Baghdad launched on June 21, at least 70 people have been killed in a spate of bombings and attacks including strikes against a mosque and busy clothing markets.

AMMAN, Jordan (AP) - Saddam Hussein and his seven co-defendants went on a hunger
strike Wednesday to protest the killing of an attorney on the defense team, Saddam's
chief lawyer said. Khalil al-Dulaimi told The Associated Press, "President Saddam
and other members of his leadership went on a hunger strike today to protest the
killing of Khamis al-Obeidi."

"They pledged not to end the strike until international protection is provided to the
defense team," said al-Dulaimi, who was visiting Jordan.

Talk about fukt up, accept protection and throw up a huge red flag to who you might be to anyone around, or try and go under the radar and hope someone doesn't piece it together.

The worst part i heard today on CNN (can't find a print reference) was that he supposedly demanded credentials from the 'police officers' and he, a LAWYER, still found them credible enough to accept going with them.
