Democratic Primaries
In reply to the discussion: Why I voted Sanders [View all]W_HAMILTON
(7,909 posts)I'm a millennial and I probably am faced with many of the same problems you have; however, it is foolish to put your faith in a politician (Sanders) that has been in office for the past three decades, watching it all happen, all the while he has accomplished nothing for us and done nothing to prevent it. He is not the savior you are looking for. And I hope his divisive message does not discourage you (and other young people) from seeing progress made in your life by refusing to vote for the eventual Democratic nominee. The biggest progressive setbacks in the past couple of decades was when people thought Gore as the same as Bush and wasted their vote on Nader and then when people thought Hillary was as bad as Trump and either didn't vote or wasted their vote on Stein. One of the biggest reasons for your current plight are boneheaded, shortsighted decisions like those.
You wanting to improve the lives of your fellow citizens is admirable. Talking down to """Boomers""" as if all of them have wonderful lives is somewhat troublesome, but that seems to be the message propagated by many in the Sanders crowd. Don't let them corrupt you like they have so many other young people, forcing them to turn against their brothers and sisters and only believing that "Sanders alone" can cure all that ails us. He can't and he hasn't. The only way we can turn this around is through progress together and the only way we achieve progress together is by voting Trump and his Republican enablers out of office this November.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
