(419 posts)So I kinda, and I emphasize kinda get where you are coming from but I disagree. I struggled Ive been there. Come from a middle class working family.
I took minimum wage jobs to get by. When I got serious about school, luckily in CA we have waivers for class fees at community college if you live under a certain income level, which I qualified for. I took all of my undergrad classes at a community college level for free and paid for my books by picking up extra shifts etc. When I transferred to a bigger college to complete my BSN, I took student loans cause thats what I had to do to get my license to practice. It sucks and a sacrifice but thats what I had to do.
Now I have a great paying job with great benefits that is very rewarding in all areas. My problem is with everything Bernie is proposing he, will ending up inadvertently hurting me, because it will require higher taxes on me and others like me, who worked their asses off to get to where we are. Thats not okay with me. I believe in a progressive tax code that heavily taxes the ultra rich and rich in general but based on his proposals middle class familys like mine are going to feel the cost greater.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
