Democratic Primaries
In reply to the discussion: Nancy Pelosi, "Establishment Democrat," was elected the same year as Bernie & is the same age [View all]booley
(3,855 posts)70. He gave a long list of people and institutions who he says oppose his policies
Insurance companies, Republicans, trump, and yes the Democratic establishment
What might all of these have in common when it comes to Medicare for all, for instance?
Maybe something to do with how money trumps the public good? Not to mention a certain political status quo that many want to maintain (even as it hurts millions) Sorry I had thought the context was obvious. IF you think I got the context wrong, by all means, show me the full speech and we can parse through it together.
If you want to see activists protesting the establishment, just watch the local news.
And this isn't?
Or this?

How about this one?

I can tell you a big difference from the establishment. Sanders will actually LISTEN to protesters. He won't' condescend. He won't brush them off with "You didn't' vote for me" or "vote for trump"
I also admit I am c0nfused. IF you are genuinely against military spending, isn't Warren a bit of a problem for you? Really all the Contenders are more problematic on this issue than Sanders.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided

There is essentially one candidate who goes out of his way to marginalize what he characterizes

Sometimes I just have to wonder if it's just plain envy on the part of her haters. (nt)

That's interesting. For many, that would be "disqualifying" in any other candidate. (nt)

"Establishment" as a derogatory term is such a drawback to the Nixon era, it's funny

"Establishment" took me way back, when I was wearing an afro and bell bottom jeans.

That's actually using the term in a way that points out how "non-establishment" they really are.
