Democratic Primaries
In reply to the discussion: Exercise: Can I assume EVERY Poster here, and I mean EVERY FUCKING POSTER HERE [View all]PandoraAwakened
(905 posts)Eliot, first, please note that I have read many, many of your posts and agree with much of what you typically say. So, please bear with as I attempt to sort out my stupidity at not being able to infer different and sometimes completely opposite meanings to English phrases as they are written. Also, yes, I will admit that, like most people, I too definitely have trouble understanding run-on sentences.
So, if you could just clarify your answers to the questions below, maybe everyone can actually understand what you are saying.
And, no, "Everybody knows what I mean...sigh" is not an appropriate answer; that's just another version of tRump-talk meaning, "Everyone in my mind knows what I mean except for you, you stupid idiot...sad." Yes, that is how I interpret what you just said to me.
Fine, I accept the fact that you think I'm a stupid idiot for taking words at face value and for not being able to decipher word salads. So please, enlighten this stupid idiot and clarify the following:
1.) You said in your original post, "EVERY Poster here, and I mean EVERY FUCKING POSTER HERE."
Question: Where is "here"? Did you mean:
a.) "Here" is the DU site?
b.) "Here" is the Democratic Primaries forum where you originally posted this?
c.) "Here" is the Greatest Threads forum where this post will sit for 24 hours?
d.) "Here" is the Comments section of just this single post?
e.) "Here" is the list of members on the Rec tally for just this single post?
2.) You said in your original post, "I would love to see EVERY poster on this site answer this."
Question: How do you define "this site"? Is it:
a.) Site = DU site (technically the only thing "here" that qualifies as a site)?
b.) Site = Greatest Threads forum?
c.) Site = Democratic Primaries forum?
d.) Site = Your own individual post?
3.) You said in your edit to the original post that the persons who need to be demonized are "the posters who did NOT respond."
Question: Who, as a group, are these "non-responding posters"? Are they:
a.) People who post to the DU site but did NOT submit Comments &/or Recs to your individual post?
b.) People who post in the Democratic Primaries forum but did NOT submit Comments &/or Recs to your individual post?
c.) People who gave Recs to your individual post but did NOT also submit Comments?
d.) People who submitted Comments to your individual post but did NOT also Recommend it?
e.) People who submitted Comments to your individual post but who DISAGREED with the notion that Dems should ever have to submit to any kind of Nazi-like litmus test, no matter how well-intentioned?
[In other words, answer "e.)" above means that the definitive statement "posters who did NOT respond" is actually one of those pesky, incomplete "fill-in-the-unidentified-blanks" type of phrases, which when properly translated, means: "posters who DID respond but did NOT respond in the precise manner demanded of them."]
f.) People (like me) who submitted Comments to your individual post and who AGREED they are voting for whoever the Democratic nominee is, but who had the audacity to say anything beyond that, such as disapproving of the demonization of fellow Dems for superfluous reasons?
[In other words, answer "f.)" above means that the definitive statement "people who did NOT respond" is actually a "deep, multi-leveled, opposite-meaning" kind of phrase that stupid people can't possibly figure out on their own---one whose actual meaning is: "posters who said anything beyond what I asked for, even if they agreed, but particularly those idiotic enough to think that 'posters who did NOT respond' literally means 'posters who did NOT respond'...wow, some kind of extra stupid...sigh."]
4. In your edit to the original post you suggested a ban on whoever these non-responding posters are (see Question 3) in the form of a "rule" that says "you CANT BE HERE..."
Question: What does "CANT BE HERE" mean, and how does that "rule" work? Is it:
a.) Can't be a DU member unless one signs a formal statement with admin saying they will definitely vote in 2020 for whoever the Democratic nominee ends up being?
b.) Can't be a DU member unless one swears a loyalty oath in the Comments section of your individual post (for which DU is going to write a special rule outlining how to properly and precisely word said oath, with no additional commentary allowed)?
c.) Can't post in the Democratic Primaries forum unless one first clicks a checkbox saying they will definitely vote in 2020 for whoever the Democratic nominee ends up being?
d.) Can't post in the Democratic Primaries forum unless one swears a loyalty oath in the Comments section of your individual post (for which the forum host is going to write a special rule outlining how to properly and precisely word said oath, with no other additional commentary allowed)?
e.) Can't comment to this specific OP (for which somebody somewhere is going to write a rule) if you can't just answer the question with a 'yes' and then shut the fuck up about anything else?
Eliot, for Questions 1 to 4 above, no need to answer with word jumbles. If you would please just answer with the Question # and its appropriate corresponding multiple choice answer, that would go a long way in helping me and fellow slow people to understand what you really meant.
Here's an example: If someone asked me what I thought you meant by each of these phrases in your post at the time that I replied to it, I would answer: 1--a &/or b. 2--a. 3--a &/or b. 4--b &/or d.
But, I'm just a simple-minded fool & I guess that's all incorrect. So, please correct my answers so that I too will know what "everyone" knows.
5.) The crux of my own response to your post was that, of course, we're probably all going to vote for whoever the Democratic nominee is, regardless of preferences. However, I thought it was a tad crazy to suggest punishing fellow Dems who didn't happen across your post where everyone was required to submit loyalty oaths.
To that you replied, "Actually, we are starting to hear from a few now, anger is their commonality and like I said the LAST thing I would feel to reading what I wrote if someone else did would be anger."
Okay, you got me. Given certain mental challenges, I'll admit that I definitely have no idea what you're trying to say in this singular run-on sentence, let alone of whom you speak or to whom you're speaking. Perhaps you could break that down into just a few simple subject-verb-object sentences by answering the following:
Who are the "few" you're referring to?Did someone actually say they would not vote for the Democratic nominee if she/he is not their pick? If so, who and where did they say this? (Admittedly, I did not read every single Comment to your post---but that's just because I'm stupid like that.)
You threw in the phrase "like I said." Where did you previously say "the last thing I would feel to reading what I wrote if someone else did would be anger"? Dude, please don't take this personally, but that is a quintessential word salad. What does that even mean? I have read and re-read your original post and edit; can't find the above string of words anywhere. If you said anything vaguely akin to this in a Comment, could you please tell me the # so that I can go there and maybe decode what you're trying to say. Also, can you please tell me what sentence in my own post prompted such a word mash-up?
Here's what I do understand about your reply to me: Someone is angry, maybe even very angry. But who? Who do you think is angry? Yourself? Me? Someone else who posted a Comment that you perhaps also misunderstood? Someone who shouted in all caps by calling fellow DUers "EVERY FUCKING POSTER HERE"? Who? Who is angry? Maybe, just maybe, you're equating others' confusion/misinterpretaton of your wording as somehow constituting "anger"? I don't know, you tell me. I'm not smart enough to read someone's mind, nor do I have the brainpower to redefine the English language.
I patiently await your multiple choice answers to Questions 1 - 4 and a clearly worded, understandable (at least to my own feeble mind) explanation for Point 5.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
