(31,261 posts)the party convention when it was clear Hillary was the nominee, nor do they care for the lukewarm support that he provided Hillary in the General. I think those things more than anything else is hurting him now. I think that if he had busted his ass for Hillary in the General and she had still lost, Bernie would be far and away the top choice for the nomination in 2020. As things are, for better or worse, Hillary supporters have not forgotten and many former Bernie supporters have moved on.
My guess of what happens? If Senator Bernie Sanders continues to lose ground, all but his most hardcore supporters are likely to switch to Senator Warren as the best choice against the more moderate segments of the party. But Senator Warren is a classical democrat who is going to support the nominee strongly if she does not win the nomination.
