(46,585 posts)DU even waited until Hillary finally conceded several days later, all this in deference to her. After March 2008, there was no mathematical chance for her to win, yet DU's rules regarding the primary election remained intact and were enforced.
Now DU is changing the rules to accommodate Hillary/supporters yet again, inferring the primary is over. The DNC front-loaded the primary with Hillary-favorable states. I have read several analyses pinpointing March 15th as the high mark in delegate advantage for her. Now that Bernie-favorable states are on deck to vote, DU is changing the rules.
Doesn't surprise me, really. The DU admin has been actively promoting her candidacy from the beginning. Resurrecting zombie posters who are constantly breaking DU rules of civility further erodes the long-held DU philosophy and rules. The coronation is in progress and the message is get the f#ck out of the way.
The Democratic Party is set to put forward the weakest candidate by far in my lifetime. The Republicans have a warehouse-full of attacks ready based on her dodgy record and inconsistencies. She has indictment hanging over her head and regardless of the cavalier dismissal of that here at DU, it is a real possibility. She is barely ahead of Trump in polling and loses badly to the other GOP contenders. And if by chance she makes it to the White House, they will move for impeachment immediately. This kind of drama will be constant as it was in the 1990s.
I will not vote for Hillary in the GE. I am appalled by her record and in particular her record at the State Department. Rather than using that opportunity to build a solid foreign policy record, she became an arms broker, the middleman between countries on the human rights watch list and the military industrial complex. The Clinton Foundation functioned as money launderer. She put her neoliberal thumb on the scale in Iraq, Libya, Honduras, Haiti, and Syria as war profiteer.
My hope is that a viable third party arises, but too late for this election cycle unfortunately. Bernie's candidacy that very likely would have soared as a third party entry is being suffocated by the Democratic Party in favor of a deeply flawed, severely compromised candidate. I will with no joy in my heart end up saying I told you so.
