2016 Postmortem
In reply to the discussion: "Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind." [View all]The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,922 posts)8. It's as irritating as hell. We are ultimately on the same team,
or so I thought. Divisive rhetoric and insults fired at the candidates and their supporters will not help defeat the GOP next year. I hope something changes so we can all enthusiastically promote the candidacy of whoever we prefer without tearing down the others, or the people who support them. While it's true that "politics ain't beanbag," or an endeavor for the faint-hearted or thin-skinned, there's a point at which slinging insults for the purpose, apparently, of scoring points which exist only in the mind of the slinger, becomes monumentally stupid. Thinking before posting is a good idea, as is keeping in mind the fact that nobody is ever persuaded by being insulted.
